I am a relatively newcomer to most of those who frequent these boards. HOwver I am now getting to a point where my template and my RR are close to allow me to start moving into the Emain chaos.

I know the Uthgard rules. However, I want to ensure I understand the full Uthgard etiquette . Greyganking is easy to understand why some are upset and others say 'hey, rvr in rvr zones ..no biggie'. My problem is with 'adding'...

It seems to me that there are a lot of people upset about adding. Ive had times where I see one of my realmmates solo or groups...engage/get jumped and I start shooting the enemy down ...sometimes I get 'thanks', others I get 'F off'. Many times this seems to be based on whether your realmmate(s) think they will win...however often you cannot make that assesment quickly enough for you to really help.

So, right now I am in the 'red means dead' mode. I shoot anything that attacks me or my side. I am no breaking mez, I understand the fight...but I will take out the free-casting theurg, or interupt the healer, etc ...So long as our side wins. I know Uthgard rules say its fine..my issue is with the etiquette rules

How much of a pariah will this make me on Uthgard?

You're not going to please everyone. They (GM's) actually created a rule to protect you from being harassed by people trying to tell you how to rvr.

Basic rule of thumb though is..... If you add, you will be added. If you don't add, you will probably still be added, but not by as many people. Uthgard is a small community. Your reputation will get around and many play multiple realms, so expect the attitude to follow regardless of what realm you are playing for/against. The reason i try to avoid adding is that it kills what little bit of action there is during the time i play (US EST). I have been on during EU primetime though, when there are over 1k people on and adding doesnt appear to affect things as much at this time..

^^

As previously stated, it depends on what you want to get out of this server.

If you are only interested with gaining RP's as fast as possible with no regard for earning the respect of other players then add everything.

If you do choose to respect the 1v1, 2v2 fights etc - you WILL be remembered by lots of players that abide by the same mindset. HOWEVER, just remember that adders will always be around - don't get it in your head that because you don't add, everyone should play like that. Just make a little mental note of their name, and add the crap out of them next time you see them.

I am not a 100% solo player as some here claim to be. Every now and then i'll join a keep-taking group, or a little guild group and participate in "less than fair" fights... However, 99% of the time I am soloing, and do my best to avoid adding on fights with people that I frequently see around AMG that enjoy soloing (e.g. Intimid, Zack, Sleepwel, etc..)

As with anything, just treat others the way you want to be treated. Just remember that you won't ever be able to please everyone. It's better to pick a side and stick with it, rather than constantly trying to please everyone and flipping between a soloer and adder, and having everyone hate you.

Oh and give people time to remember your name, etc... It takes people a while to figure out your playstyle.
Cheers,
Sailor

won't work neither in 1v1 or smallmen or 8v8...why?

if you add their fights, their oponents will be ******...imagine u are alb and add a ranger you know adds himself...however, the mid he fights with is a non-adder...so the mid will note YOUR name as being an adder and add your fight next time...and then you'll note the mids name and while 2 of 3 players involved here were no adders they'll end up add on another...

the only way around this, is not to add at all....it's hard especially for low RR as you'll let go on a lot of "free" rps, but that's imho the only way to avoid this add-snowball-system...

Don't add, ever. And you will get chance for fair fight in future.

just add everything at low rr until ~RR7 then make a QQ post here about adders and put yourself in the light of the fairest non adder and from there on farm the new low rr 4 player in "fair" 1vs1 fights, like everyone here does.

There is no etiquette. Red is dead.
Want "fair" fights without adding/zerging/counterzerging/greyganking? You picked wrong game then.

just add everything from the start and never stop doing it and then try to make it look like u are doing a good thing for the server while blaming the nicefighters to all be hypocrites

There's no chaos in Emain, not a chaos like i have seen on official servers. Some groups are trying to use Emain as an arena for group vs group combat, with no interference allowed, even by the third realm (reducing the variety of gameplay :? ), even against team that don't let you a single chance to win.
You do what you want, of course. But if don't respect this :
- the "hater" part of this players will try everything to make you leave the zones.
- a part of this players will put you on a black list, even i you want to try this arena mode
- you will be KoS, this players doing the same thing against you (i mean add)

Of course, as a random PuG, you have not a single chance to win agains team. But it doesn't matter : feed them, leave the zone or become a black sheep.
Emain = Arena, i think everyone should be able to play with that. You can have "chaos" action on others frontier zones.

Just follow Holstens advice, add till u r around rr7+. before u ll loose 95% of 1v1s anyway.
then u start beeing fair and you ll get your fair fights. did it several times, workes always since the 1v1 players dont ve any choice.
if there is one more fair player they ve to be happy and stop killing you :)
which works best to get ur reputation back is getting a duo partner and let the solos alive and hug them. then it takes 1-2 days doing it to be accepted as a fair player 8O
if they still kill u, u just come back with ur duo partner kill them once and let them live again afterwards.

i startet a few weeks ago in Emain.. Soloing my SB.. i dont add anything (only if i see its a stealther grp zerging everyone, than i help other stealther to clear them, too) And i dont loose 95% of my fights.. sure i get sometimes destroyed hard, but i can say my dead or killrate is more positiv then negativ. The point is ofc.. i dont zerg my rr fast, but i like to have it slower but with interessting fights. I dont need lwrps from 100k.. i am happy if i have 3-5 really good fights .. every person have his own game style..

and like before already said: some player will notice you as a fair player and dont zerg you. but some ****** on all and hit was is red, add, zerg or whatever. You will never ever please everyone, so just play like you feel good, and see what comes back. Maybe its good, maybe its bad..

I would not play like other want me to.. do your thing by yourself, and stand behind it, so you will have fun.

(btw. i get tells like "why did you not help me" too..) but what will you do?

one person want help.. next person will get mad about that..

so at the end : you play - your choice - rest is open
