why is it, in all these videos, the "winners" all seem to be fighting players with no skill whatsoever.

no reactions in a stick zerg or 2fgs vs 1g and they cant even coordinate an attack?

IMO the best fights are where you have two equally skilled teams fighting in a 20 minute battle (like some Uthgard guild groups do) an not these inept players videos.

Even the winners in these videos look to me like they would struggle against your average Uthgard Pug.

the level is very high here compared to live server, and increased a lot. As we started here 4 years ago the best grps out would be considered bad pug grps nowadays.
Especially taken into account there are no real sgs but most of the grps here are poolgrps.
How many roxxor SGs from live started here, told uthgard that they will "rule da server", and vanished soon after they hit emain and wiped over and over again in the last years? At least a dozen.

The setting is totally different on uthgard. Mostly Harmless and Free Rps were two really hard guilds to fight, and you can see them fighting each other in both of their videos (the MH fight in Frp3 is the one from goldenrod the druid's perspective where he is immediately zephyred, and the Frps fight in the MH video is the one where the shaman immediately dies), though I think the fights they have in these videos would be unusually long, because in the meta game of old frontiers it was more common to simply rape the other group quickly, even if you are evenly matched.

The zergs on live were extra-terrible yes, but the meta game differences still come into play.

tldr; uthgard's meta promoted longer fights, the people here aren't any better.

But it is not because of how people play and such. It is what it shows.
The period is late 1.6x and they fight close to the mmg lake in emain.
What is interesting compared to Uthgard is that you do not see any mobs around in the fight.
