Soooo,

after the huge and well organized zerg event , the stealther-zergevent and, lets not forget, the smaller-everyday-zergevents

what about a planned 8v8 event :)?

we chose 1 zone which should only be used for the 8v8 event during the specific time.

rules could be:
Code: Select all
1-8 players per sitcked grp allowed,
external grps are not allowed to add into an ongoing 8v8,
stealthers are not allowed to add into an ongoing 8v8,
no keepraiding in the chosen zone,
no camping (sitting, staying, running circles) next to fighting grps until fight is over to immediatly force another 8v8

insulting this rules during the event causes a 30min ban for the grp(s).

im not sure if gms are willing to organize or even support such an event with flying through zone, swinging ban-hammer if needed and adding uthalis for kills.

therefore i'd like to appeal everyone to stick to the rules and enjoy a successful (sunday?) evening :)

you know my motto -
manners, please

its not about beeing serious - its about sending a message ...

but yeah, im serious. i know - an 8v8-event may sound strange to some people here (which is pretty sad to my mind...), but i bet if we get like 2-3 grps per realm, it will be awesome :)

considering there has never been a single event involving 8v8, I would say GMs sponsoring this is highly unlikely

8v8 is the devil and dies the server!

well tbh everyone is free to call out such events, basically u dont need support of the gms for that, just punish rule violators yourself. However in my opinion there is no need for such an event as emain is known as the 8v8 zone and if people would want 8v8 they could come and fight there. Most unlikely you will see more than the usual groups out on such an event.

8v8 is the most usual group size so rather call an event for some 2v2 3v3 4v4 or 5v5 imo

Well, it would at least be a nice way to get people out of Emain for a change and designate Odins Gate as the 8vs8 zone of the evening. But yeah, doesn't need to be an event, just some flexibility would be nice sometimes^^. Stupid go-to Emain..

unfortunately - disagree. since i came back to uth 2 weeks ago, I see 16slots+ running through emain nearly every evening and everyone is adding in every [im a rabbit bla bla] fight. but i dont want to discuss this topic here.

more important is...
well tbh everyone is free to call out such events, basically u dont need support of the gms for that

totally agree. but you need to find some people for that and convincing them to follow the rules isnt too easy. thats why id like to discuss things here :)

We went Odins with four groups a few days ago because DG was being their epic self in Emain. Refreshing not having to worry about adds but if there's not enough groups it can get stale.

Anyway like Griselda said this would just be the usual suspects and the 2v2,3v3,4v4 events two years ago were a lot of fun and had a big turnout.

we had a 8v8 event here, if i remember correct killer tomatoes could have been declared the overall winners. DG performed quite OK as well as some hib grps, but killer tomatoes won at least 80% of theyr fights (we had a video here somewhere), at least i still have it on hard disk.

we also had 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, 6v6 Events (i think the series stopped there and we missed the 7v7 event).

But all these events, as for example my UFC 2vs2 events (look in my signature for video of the last one), are player events and GMs did not interfere at all. You can't ban people for adding or not following the rules in such events, you have to find an own way to ensure fair play or just trust the players... so far all these events were quite fair.

good idea, but...

... honestly I think most of the so called 8men groups that are runing arround arrange their fights anyway on a dayly basis over IRC or even whorse over TS. So in my opinion this event we have allready every day.

So in my opinion this event we have allready every day.

imo - nop.
what we do have is people trying to do 8v8. but others start sticking and run 16 slot. what people like me do is easy -log off or try bgs. but again - that is the topic and neither i want to discuss my behaviour nor i want to discuss this sticking and adding here.

the topic is an 8v8 event, which to my mind, IS an event and id like to know if we can find like 2-3 grps per realm for this

and please also consider the rules i suggested, espacially...
external grps are not allowed to add into an ongoing 8v8,
stealthers are not allowed to add into an ongoing 8v8,
no camping (sitting, staying, running circles) next to fighting grps until fight is over to immediatly force another 8v8

because only by following the realms in the specific zone/timespan this intention becomes a successful event 8)
