Un-delete a deleted, un-ban a ban. I don't envy a GM's job at all.

Heart Warming:

Glad Comet is back :D

Reality check:

While i was disheartened to see a long timer like Comet have his account derailed, i think i was snowballed more by the restore. I like Comet , and i am glad to see that he will get his character back... i think the server is better with players like him on it.

I've never shared nor will i ever share account info with ANYONE. My wife doesn't even get my account info, why? Because it "was" a hard set rule that you are responsible for your account.

I used to fight people on this subject, but now more than ever I think some people receive special treatment/favors or a blind eye is turned if they are friends with a GM. I have personally seen multiple screenshots of a severe rule violation that was sent in (recently), and appears to have been ignored. I am trying to be understanding and hope that this is a timing issue, but if it goes on w/o recourse, then i will assume that the individual was a friend of someone high enough, and accept it for what it is ( freeshard with people who run it, set the rules, enforce them as they see fit, and at the same time choose not to enforce them when they decide not to).

Bottom Line:

I'm fine with accepting all of the above. Beats 13.99 a month.

Majority of people on this server are decent and fair, even the ones that qq a lot are ok and you can trust them. The fact that your wife does not get your account info shows only what you think of her and how much you love her xD. I agree that the world is full of ****** people, but how do you expect to develop a healthy community without trust? Sure, there's a bad apple here and there, but most people on this server are decent. That kind of paranoid behavior is not normal. You sleep with a woman, probably have kids with her, you want to spend the rest of your life with her and some server rule is more important to you than showing her some trust and faith xD? This is precisely why world is what it is, because people get screwed ower by 1-2 idiots out of 100 other good and honest people they know, and they still develop fear and paranoia because of those few. Word of advice, if you do not trust someone with your life, don't marry that person xD. Or maybe you trust her with your life, but not with your account XD? Bottom line, why even bother trying to develop a community of any kind if you can't trust someone not to scam you for a guild crafter account or even give your friend/wife/sibling your acc data so he or she can pay your rent or what not? Let's all seclude ourselves in small rooms, grab a shotgun and live in fear.

Bloodshed and violence and savagery were the natural elements of the life Conan knew; he could not, and would never, understand the little things that are so dear to civilized men and women."

Undelete a char deleted by Someone other than the owner, i understand it. He will be naked, he lost all, but at least have his char back, what is totally normal i think, the guy deleted the house and all items, he lost for a LOT of plat. Unban a perma ban, like some ppl was shouldnt have been done, i dont understand why its called a perma ban if the char is unbanned.
2012:<@[Uth]Abydos> If we don't have SI by the end of the year, Im fairly certain I wont be a GM anymore :-p

Yeah, perma bans that are not perma bans make no sense xD. Well, I know how it is. Anyone who wants to make an example, needs a sacrificial lamb. Few people do bad things, and for example GM's in good intention turn a blind eye and say well, it's just a game, let's restore them and hopefully they've learned the lesson. Then a good guy like Comet gets screwed over and hmmm, they make an example out of him cause all others failed. It's normal, and I don't blame GM's, but I am glad Blue restored him, good decision on his part. I think most of the community knows there is a big difference between restoring some random guy that trades/scams accounts and breaks rules and Comet. Has nothing to do with Comet's realm rank. If you are on the server for 5-6 years, known by 99% community as a fair player and a normal guy that does not cause problems, I think exception should be made.

You guys are going radical on me. I'm just saying it is a dangerous path to go down.

I wasn't being literal Raggnar. My wife doesnt play DAoC

Lets try it this way:

Shared account info with someone who traded the account for real money and got caught = permaban

Shared account info with their best friend who got ****** at (person) for running over his dog accidentally and deleted all toons and sold off all the gear = DAMN!

Shared account with a friend who used it to craft his gear, he used a macro tool and got caught = permaban

Shared account info with a friend, who shared it with 4 more friends, and those 4 friends had 20 more friends... One of those 28 friends pretend to be a GM = permaban

As a GM now i have to decide which ONE of those 4 people i want to restore, and tell the other 3 tough luck. Those 4 examples could easily turn into 50 examples, then choose 1/50 to restore.

Yes, I got your point the first time, but the stuff you are talking about is paranoia. I mean, everyone knows Harjis is a retard, Comet made a big mistake when trusting him...sadly :(. Some people on this server know Harjis for almost 10 years and they never gave him info, cause they knew he bought his account on live anyway and is in general a tard...sadly, Comet did not know him that well. But not all people are bastards, there are decent people you can trust. Ofc, in the end it's your call and your risk.

No discussion needed on this. Staff gets to decide, as stated in the rules.

§5.2 Restoration of lost characters, items and other data
There is no claim on the restoration of lost characters, items and other data. The decision whether to restore data or not lies in the sole discretion of the staff. Deliberately and accidently deleted characters will not be restored. There is no claim on an account recovery if the account was stolen because of insecure accountnames and/or passwords.

Players are responsible for the security of their account. Uthgard Staff urges all players to take precautions to safeguard their account against unauthorized use.

* Register a valid e-mail address. Keep this account secure. The owner of the e-mail is the owner of the account, and the only method of account recovery with a registered e-mail is by accessing this account.
* Do not share your account details with anyone, even trusted guild mates or family. Account details should be kept private.
* Account trades are not allowed, even for in-game items or gold.
* If a rule violation occurs, all accounts linked to the violator will be punished.

You may change your in-game password by using the /password command or set your e-mail address by using the /email command.

See you on the battlefield,

Your Uthgard Staff
