Well Zack, as much as I hate to admit it, you are right. Yes, I was upset about the change in Barrels, I made alot of gold and didn't have to go do Taj2 or orther raids tomake money and could craft when I had little time to play, and yes, I wish I had a heads up before, my merchant prices would have gone way up. Barrles are now selling on Hib for anywhere between 1p-50p.

I also had considered quitting, and I think they only reason I would have is as Anae said, the GM's not allowing players to state their views before locking or totally deleting a post. I get it, the GM's have said why, after the fact, maybe not in the most politically correct manner, and the number of posts about this were numerous, but maybe allow one thread? Locking or deleting a thread because someone doesn't agree with you IS immature. Ignore them. People need to vent frustrations, and some of us, me included do not have the time or energy to read EVERY thread here. An update on the main page with a short statement of why changes were made will go a long way in helping your player base understand whats going on.

It is just like raising children, "No, because I said so" doesn't cut it. They will rebel at some point.

With that said, I love this game. RvR here is the best of any game I have ever played, and I have played alot of different games, but keep coming back to Classic DAoC. So thanks to the GM's for this server, but please, be a bit more open with information and changes?

I agree with most of Zack's post too, Adi. I guess without working on the project as a whole, its tough for me to see how they prioritize things. I won't delete my toons because i get aggrovated, but i have been playing less and less, and i think the community as a whole is doing the same. it could be environmental (summer.. new games.. etc.) or it could be a combination of that along with recent changes. Either way, its game changing.

What comes next so the population can make plans around it?

Taj removed?.. and if so will Taj items be removed?
Epic mobs with true 1.69 loot tables?... if you are shooting for true 1.69.. (or do we call it 1.69c (custom)).. and if thats the case, will those who already have the drops lose them?

I'm not suggesting it.. just wondering if that is on the horizon.

They've said Tajendi will stay for now, as is. I think Abydos just posted it yesterday.
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> that's what I learnt
[3:11pm] <Frosty_> then why does austerim suck
lordgriffon wrote:Oh by the way... ever seen a group of 8 smite clerics? Or play against a group like that? I have. Absolute devastation. The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

I saw that Austerim. Just wondering what model of 1.69 they are shooting for, and if they decide to remove custom (x) a little warning goes a long way.

It is unlikely items would be simply removed outright. We need item degrade to properly remove items like that, so there will be some warning and time for replacement (item degrade takes a long, long time).

Yah Adi, as I told you last night on TS, I think the one person who has a right to be upset over the barrell change is alchemists that made money off barrells. That sucks that the change came so sudden and people scraped your consignment merchant clean before you could raise prices. I dont remember if you were on when me and Grendle were talking about it, but we did realise why it was a sudden change or at least we think we did. If they had said "In 24 hours barrels will no longer be able to be made on this server..." you would see the alchemists tables at every major city in Hib/Alb/Mid stuffed full of people filling up their vaults w/ barrells. I think the suddenness of the change was because of that, but I could be wrong.

Also, I want to point out that not all the changes I am in favor of, but its not my server, so I will give my reasons why I dont like a change and then move on. If it bothers me that much then i will be talking a break till I can calm down then come back. So far this has only happened once, and that was over the raising in Uthalis prices.

I don't think that it is just about the barrel fix, and there would have been better ways to solve the problem, the thing I grief about is implementing or taking away alot of stuff that has nothing to do with imbalances just because it was not livelike with 1.69, like hasteners in pve zones - I totally agree with the rvr zone fix but I can't see any reason for this in pve areas. This is just an example

But where do such customizations stop Nef? That is the key point. Do we continue non-RVR customization until we have insta teleports to Lyonesse from Sauvage and we turn into i50?

Nope, i'm talking about things that you once gave to players, and take them now without any serious reasons. I could understand no further customizations, but taking people what they were used to that influenced their game experience in a positive way sucks.

Such is life - it is easy to add features but incredibly difficult to remove them. Unfortunately, sometimes we must take uncomfortable choices.

All this become ridiculous, i know some changes are stupid, but why keep try to make them change ? You should know GMs wont change their mind, so just start to deal with it, like most of ppl already do
2012:<@[Uth]Abydos> If we don't have SI by the end of the year, Im fairly certain I wont be a GM anymore :-p
