Hi,
i would like to introduce an idea how to make uthgard more attractive. Tajendi 1 and Tajendi 2 are good, but at the moment its just a place to farm items while you are stoned |drunk. The thing that i miss on uthgard are battlegrounds, where players can compare their skills by numbers, not only wins | loses. Ive seen such a thing at warhammer online or wrath of heroes.

My idea is to implement a NPC that would every half hour| hour port 3 full groups or 5v5v5 or 15 people solo from each realm to fight against others in a zone like thidranki, braemar, arena etc. There might be more different game types like CTF, DEATH MATCH, SEARCH&DESTROY etc... Each fight would last max 15 minutes or less. There would be maximum points that could each team reach to win. After each fight there would be a table with numbers containing values reached of each player like healed points, dealth damage, deaths during fight. That would encourage others to improve themself.

What do you think about this?

Total stupid and senseless?

Did you come up with this idea while farming items in Tajendi?

Did I already mention that I don't like arena type artificial arranged fights? Its far away of what Uthgard stands for. This is more an idea for another i50 shard out there and I bet they already have some system of this type.

Do you mean joust events or battle grounds, which are nearly the same, just without statistics?

if you want arena fights join any other mmo.....
the good thing about daoc is, that there is open pvp all the time and no retarded insta pvp where ppl can compare scores....

Open pvp without players is not that open i would say... If you run emain every evening is the same, all you meet is Requiem, DG and RJ...

I agree that DAoC's open PvP is a little too open. It lacks strategy.

Jousts and battlegrounds are not close to what is described by topic starter.

Jousts are events, and battlegrounds were on live at patch 1.69 too

And who's fault is that? There are simply not very many PvP players on Uthgard, most seem to be perfectly happy twinking and running around in the BGs from time to time. An Arena woulnd't change that and wouldn't fit with the setting anyway. But I do believe that something could be done to improve RvR (RvR GM + events, porter-chain to minimize travel times and give additional incentives to raid keeps, etc). But none of that will ever happen either... especially now that Uthgard is bleeding players.

My idea also represents a posibility to get a group for unknown people without guild. So everybody could have an action. Could bring more non stealther class in emain. And get players out of battle ground circles.

May I ask what an RvR GM is?

Events do happen, however events are just that, events. Not daily occurrences.

People enjoy events because they have a special objective. In normal RvR finding inc is the only objective. Back in the NF days, towers along with the war map made sieges a real secondary objective that the realm often coordinated for. Since OF keep sieges are universally despised (for many reasons), this RvR alternative has vanished from the server.
