Looking to join the underdog realm (so I'll always have enemies).

Lemme know which realm you think has the fewest players.
And maybe what class would be best for there too :P

The most "underdog" realm is a tad tricky to answer. Based upon what I see in emain day in, day out, the most underdog thing is a non-stealth Hib group. There are really just a handful (2 maybe) of non-stealth Hib groups that consistently roam emain. By contrast, there are probably 4 groups of visible albs and 5 groups of visible Mids that roam emain.

It really comes down to the fact that Mid has the easiest time making PUG groups with their classes, Alb is the hardest to form a PUG but has the most powerful groups when combined right and probably the most overpowered solo classes in the game in my opinion, and Hib is somewhere in between. Melee is more powerful than casters in the current set-up here on Uthgard, so Mid has the advantage. All that applies to the visible classes; Hibernia has a decent advantage in the stealth game, with albs ranking second and mids ranking third in stealth warfare.

On the other hand, Hibernia has had more relics than the other realms over the last six months. Not sure I'd judge this as "underdog" or "overpowered", but simply that Hibernia has classes that are good at defending keeps (animist + rangers + PBAOE casters). Ironically, Hibernia has Darkness Falls probably the least amount of time. So, if you use relics as a sole basis for who is overpowered, then Hibernia would be (currently) overpowered. Next month you might find Alb overpowered on this basis. Mids probalby hold relics the least on this server, yet steamroll emain on a regular basis and control Darkness Falls the most of the 3 realms. Go figure.

If you look at the statistics page of the herald (http://uthgard.net/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=55&lang=en) you will see that it is pretty even with Hibernia having a slight advantage (mostly because of the stealth game). Albs have good balance on visible and stealth and Mids do it primarily with their visible groups steamrolling folks.

But, overall the realms are remarkably balanced but my experience is that playing a non-stealth Hibernian is generally a more underdog status than anything. Bards, druids, blademasters are the core of a visible Hibernian RvR group. From a stealth game, underdog would be Midgard, and a shadowblade would probably be the better choice over a hunter. Can't really comment on Alb since it seems harder to get the right group mix (so which particular class is needed is tricky and more situation based on who is online), but when you do get the right mix they are very powerful groups.

I know you were expecting "Please play XXX realm, they need help!!!" reply, but that isn't the case on this server.

Despite the fact that I hate almost all hib stealthers i must say Moondragon pretty much got it spot on. Just pick what you want.

Just play whichever realm you prefer, there really isn't a dramatic unbalance in population. Endgame RvR is fought out between a small handfull of groups from each realm. You will rarely see 'random' players in the frontiers, apart from doing guard tasks at undefended keeps.

Should I change my answer just because the question gets asked more than once? :D I think most realms enjoy having a good flow of enemies.. and yes I do feel like Alb has too many players already :)

Retracted.

Play what you want. Opinions vary as to what is the underdog realm, each realm thinks it has it tough apparently.

lordgriffon wrote:Oh by the way... ever seen a group of 8 smite clerics? Or play against a group like that? I have. Absolute devastation. The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

Well, unsure what to do.

Was kinda leveling my friar, but as you said... Mid groups steam roll everything. And you said there's no soloers, so nothing to fight against if I did play a friar (since groups really don't invite friars).

So far I got a SM and Shaman around level 20 (same account, calm down no botting).
I got a theurg, inf, and friar around 20. Cabalist at 30. And Paladin at 40.
And I got an animist, ment, and chanter between 15 and 25 lvls.

So I'm spread out all over. Just can't decide which realm to play. From what I've seen, alb has TONS of grouping. A lot of cooperation. Hib falls in next. And mids never group for leveling. So that makes SB a very difficult option.
Hib isn't really familiar territory to me. And the classes aren't the most appealing, neither the races (I think I mainly don't like the races).
Alb,well I got a lot of characters there, and some leveled decently. But paladin is getting terribly slow. Cabalist is fast and all, but only thing I'd use him for in RvR is AoE DoT and I hear you really only get to do that on keep defense (in BGs mostly).

I'd really like to play my friar... Are they stealther killers here like they used to be long ago? Or are friars pretty much outdated fossils of DAoC?

Greetings ladies and gents,

I am new here but have become VERY interested in this server after I first stumbled upon a blog mentioning the server. Anyway, I too am wondering the same thing. Are Friars valid in this incarnation of the game, or are they still Fossil status? I'd really love to roll one again...will my fellow Albs accept me? Thanks!

Coming from a ranger, I can say that friars are very formidable foes for stealthers, especially hib stealthers. You will be very tough in 1 vs 1 fights against stealther and you will win most fights, however, you will also notice that it is hard to get consistant 1 vs 1 fights around AMG.
