Hello everybody,
since there are a whole lot of QQ-threads about OF and/or stealthers I decided to make my own review of the current situation. What do we have here =) I am playing an Infiltrator currently 5l8 and this is a short story of my experiences gained in both NF and OF. Playing Infiltrator in NF: Other then OF, you are not FORCED to cross one single Milegate in Emain to get to some action. I had a choice of paths which lead me to my destination... the enemie. Since I had that choice I was not forced to run into an enemie stealthzerg and was able to solo appropiate=). Waiting on a Bridge in either Emain or Odin or just waiting inside a beautyfull, giant keep, for enemies porting in. If i wanted to group I did so with my Buddy Fortyseven (Scout). What we would do is he stealthed outside, made groundassist macro on me and sent me inside the keep. When we found inc inside which I wasn't able to kill single handed he would assist me via volley. It was great fun for us and we made a whole lot of rp =). If that wasnt going well due to too much inc inside the keep or outside, we would just stealth inside a tower and defend it for king and country. (with his volley we made a constant amount of rp defending and when the gates finally fell the enemy was able to kill us and get rp's aswell.) In my opinion a very userfriendly and fair system. Playin Infi in a big keep fight was fun aswell. While your army stood outside the keep you sneaked in like the assassin that you are and pick you'r target. (Either a healer or caster usually =)) aslong as you remind yourself to jump outside when poped out of stealth so your comerades will be able to rezz you. In that matter the Infiltrator was both... a solo char AND extremly usefull in combined attacks with other groups. Playing Infiltrator in OF: Now you have 3 options instead of a whole lot more: 1. Go Hadrians Wall and bore yourself to death 2. Go Odins Gate and bore yourself to death 3. Go Emain Macha and get Ranger-zerged to death in the ONLY Milegate existing. Now you dont have many options left... you could do Guard-Missions but... you know how boring they get after a little while. Since there is only one single way throu Emain Macha you WILL have to encounter that superior stealthforce. So common sense dictates : Group up with other stealthers... fight fire with fire... which ends up in extensive discussions in both broadcast chat and IRC about "How stealthers are supposed to play solo" (which is retarded =P). The change to OF cost me my Duo-Partner Fortyseven, who went to the Dark Side of the Force (EVE-Online). Playing OF as Stealthgroup: Again you first will have to survive the massive Ranger encounter at the Milegate and sometimes even right infront of the Keep. What makes you frustraded playing solo is now giving you satisfaction on one hand.... because you get to kill who ever killed you 3 to 5 times in a row, but on the other side he will most likely leave and logg some other char afterwards. So what do we do now? We keep going towards the Milegate... there you actually find one or two solo stealthers and kill them with your stealthed group... making them leave aswell since they have no other option then go to Emain. It's not just not satisfactory to kill solo's / duo's with a bigger group, it ends in extensive arguments via broadcast chat aswell. Playing stealther in Keepraids: Basicly you don't! All I do as stealther in a Keep is either killing guards for a mission (because I cannot get throu Emain without getting killed and never earn a single rp) or kill other Groupmission stealthers who attack you'r keep. So all in all I will have to say that the RvR-experience in NF was way better then it is now. I can see that it was a whole lot of work for the staff to implement OF and I personally was more then looking forward towards it. For the work the Staff did I personally am very gratefull and I believe that allmost everybody is. But now I have to admit that I would rather take NF back =). This is not supposed to be a QQ-thread about NF/OF but a simple review of my experience in todays RvR. Feel free to submit your review aswell. Sincerly your's, Evilknievel (originally named Leeeeeet) |

This is the largest issue with OF as we know it and will most likely become a whole lot better with the coming changes. In defense of truth-to-experience.

Volley needed a nerf, but I do miss being a major player in keep sieges. Back when keep sieges were fun.
Archers aren't particularly good at keep sieges anymore. Stun+DD-spam is more effective than any crit-shot.

I'd like to know how this is even possible without changing the map... I am assuming direct control.

Yeah nf is superior in every aspect, everyone with a shred of common sense knows that.
More imbalanced realm abilities and nerftastic patch limit sounds like a decent fix imo. Not. (edit by artefact) The Bird of the Hermes is my name

Welcome to uthgard friend.
The only difference is that assassins are actually implemented correctly here.

Okay we got a few comments going now.
Maybe anyone wanna write his own review of NF/OF? Dont want this thread closed for QQ ![]() |

You forgot say tnx to Black Adders and Shangri LA.

Some of the issues being addressed here is something we have discussed internally.
That is all I can say at the moment. ![]() |

Now this is a story all about how
my uthgard experience got flipped-turned upside down and I'd like to take a minute and sit right thar I'll tell you how it became that OF destroyed rvr. In west lough derg born and raised in dungeons is where I spent most of my days chillin' out maxin' exp all bored and killing some mobs like a f***ing pro when a couple of mids they were upto to something bad started making trouble with a relic raid, I got into one little zerg and my friend got scared he said "you'll join my guild for some proper eightveight". I powned some noobs until OF came near couldn't have a decent fight with adders everywhere if anything inc was becoming more and more rare so I thought to myself "man forget it, I'mma quit this server". In short: populate the other zones so players would actually go there. When there's a decent amount of players to be found there, you won't bore yourself to death anymore there. When people know it's most likely worth taking a look there, there will be a lot more action than instead of when people don't even bother because they know it's going to be waste of time. I've said it before etc. @Das_HirN: http://uthgard.net/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=53&lang=en&jfile=viewtopic.php&f=32&t=16402 In defense of truth-to-experience.

Sir, I salute you. <removes hat> |

Unfortunately people forget that this isn't game only for stealthers yes?
On your own words you say you were overpowered of what you COULD do in NF. Kill an unlimited amount of enemies, while the others got only 2 kills when they doors were down. hmmmm Also there is a complain about rangers grps. Hold on, I have seeing more Inf/scout/minstrel groups camping the gates than Ranger groups. And worst, you stuck one on top of the other, hitting all 4-5 the same target like bots. And multiple groups like these roam around lately. So to counter attack more people will make Rangers. And I know 5 in the making atm not including mine. It's like the Cold War. Each side is trying to counteract to what the other side fields. And seriously an fg stealthers with minstrel, are way overpowered than a normal composition fg (no stealthers). How things can be solved and not everyone soon in RvR isn't a stealther or in zerg? Simple. To start add body collision, AE Slam and all melee damage has 50 range to get everyone whose stacked. That seems fair or else, more rangers will be out in Emain..... |

Well of course you see more albs when you're hib. Fact is there's more rangers+shades out there than stealthers of other realms combined. One of the top 5 guilds in rp is a stealtherzerg guild that camps amg 24/7 for christ sake.
This one made me lol. The Bird of the Hermes is my name
