Hi everybody,

I've been a paying subscriber to DAoC for as long as I can remember, but recently, I've been so sick of the current state of the game. I heard about Uthgard and prayed that it was true. That being said, I have quite a few questions that need answering if anybody would be so kind:

(1) I still have to level a guy up to 50 here right? This isn't insta 50, correct? Will all of my data be saved after every time I log in/out?

(2) how is the population here? One thing I could always count on in the actual paying version of DAoC is RvR action. Will I find good action here?

(3) Which realm needs the most help? I am a veteran to the game and very good in RvR (not to brag, but I am). I'd like to help the realm which currently needs some help.

(4) I play all aspects of RvR.. seige (keep/tower take), relic battles, 8v8, small man, and solo. Of these aspects, which are the most common forms of RvR and which are the hardest to play?

(5) Will leveling to 50 be difficult because it is the mainland of the realm? I am looking foward to the nostalgic feel of this all, but I am hoping there will be some players along the way to group with... are there?

THANKS SO MUCH!

Hi, welcome abroad.

Uthgard is not insta50, and every single level will be a pain in the ass, just like on pre SI-Live. And since its hard work, ill will pay off and will be saved.
So far, all progress, even the slightest changes have been saved for 6 years already so there should be no problem here as it is on most insta50 around here, which disapear after about a week beeing on line.

There are roughly about same numbers of people online on primetimes as there are on live-server clusters alltogether. The only difference is that most of them are busy leveling up to lvl 50 and do not participate in rvr. You should find zerg every evening in emain on uthgard for sure.

You should start off with a tank or supporter from hib/alb. Midgard is completely overpopulated right now. Alb has the smallest numbers in general and hib has the smallest numbers of players participating in endgamervr. They tend to hide in BGs right now, instead of fighting for their realm in the frontiers.

Well played palas, clerics, offtanks and elds are needed.

For Realmchoice: Go Midgard, you cannot fail there.

appreciate the replies. one more question I just thought of:

-Are the classes rolled back to the way they were pre-TOA, or do the classes reflect the same changes that mythic made to them on the paying servers? For example, if I were to roll a bonedancer, would the bonedancer be the new version of the bonedancer with the super-uber pets (who would spec bone army), or would it be the pre-TOA bonedancer which normally specd suppression with good life taps?

***edit: ideally what I'm asking is are the class changes that have been made by mythic in their recent patches in effect on this server, or are the classes the way they were back in the old days?

Anything post 1.80 is not in. They are even thinking about to go back to 1.65, at least they use that as excuse for not fixing some bugs/issues. ;)

Not to sound negative or anything, but this is not true (unless 1k is roughly 3k to you).

Hib could need more decent Druids and Enchs. Think both would be a good choice. Maybe ench best cause they are rare and needed in rvr grps imo.

Blademasters are also always wanted in rvr groups.

would I need to join a guild to get into 8v8 groups or are there pick up groups that actively form?

like always it will be easier if you are in a guild that forms its own groups, but PUGing is not out of the question. The longer you play of course the easier it will be to get a slot in a decent PUG.

In Hib its mostly pug rvr. Atm not much guilds that form groups.

Usually its 1-3 random pugs in the evening where you should be able to get a spot. In Alb you see only guildgrps. Seems there is litttle to no pug rvr there.

Make sure you get to rr4 in thidranki. Its faster than emain rvr and people refuse to invite people < rr4 cause they lack base ras.

Mana chanter for hib would probably be best class to start with here..

Easy xp to 50 and farm temp gear, and you can rvr on it well.

Plus hibs need more good players, especially casters.

The RvR is abit zergy at the moment, but it does mainly seem to be the case that it's just grps adding a lot rather than running 16-24-32 on /stick.

Lots of low rr setgrps at the moment who use their low rr as an excuse to add on everything :D
