I think it is. I always noticed that ranger in melee can't be beaten 1 vs 1.
Today i just encountered melee ranger in bg. I was 46 infi and he was 47 melee ranger. I died pretty fast. When i looked at combat log i was kinda shocked. I (have template with all skills, stats and melee resists capped, lvl 51 weapon and armor) did average 50 damage to him. He did average 210-220 average to me. Earlier i met him in Wilton. I pa'd him, then cd and he still won the fight (he used IP tho).

Even my 50 arms lost to melee ranger 1vs1 in df.
Melee ranger is kinda cheat i think. Dual blades and selfbuffs just gives melee ranger 95% chance to win against other melee, maybe except pala, ministrel and scald.

I think you should to tweak rangers a bit.
It may look like i'm whining. Well. Probably it is. But it's not live where albs always were zerg. it's Uthgard, where hibs are zerg.

It's just stupid, i always though that Hibernia is best at magic and Midgard is best in melee, but when my experience says that Albion is worst in all, only classes in Albion that could show sow some resistance are Paladin, Ministrel and Friar in melee, and no classes, that could be compared at magic, it becomes pretty weird.

Ranger isn´t overpowered. In my opinion only pd5 make ranger hard to kill. But if you use viper3 you can kill pd5 ranger without problems. When ranger has not pd isn´t hard, and killable if use ip3.

Maybe that ranger was fullbuffed and you no, and maybe he is rr4 and in this rr he can has mos3 and pd4.
Ask any any good infiltrator like Muerte or Tristaluna how to play infiltrator, maybe they can give you good advice.

PD is an important factor, but many Rangers hit me for more damage with their main-hand weapon than I do with my 4.7 speed MP 2hander. And that is before you count the damage add.

I'll take screen shots next time, but most melee spec Rangers hit me for 130-175 on the main-hand, while I hit them for 100-135 with my 2hander. When you take PD out of the equation, our damage is basically equal. Let me be clear: I am only counting the Ranger's main-hand damage without counting the add.

But the damage shouldn't be equal. I should be doing [edit: more like >40%] damage per hit because of my slower weapon and 2hand spec. By the way, with str pots my Weapon Skill is over 1100 (39+16 weapon spec).

can't say much about blade since i respeced it today, but pierce does ok dmg with good speed on most classes.

With 4,7 speed is normall your damage. With 5,5 i do 240 damage on chain armor, and my hunter is rr3.9. Im sure that all rangers use the slowest weapons that they can.

If you do this damage with your spear better do respec to sword, because with slowest spear all will evade you.

Rangers have always been the best dmg dealer from all 3 archers when it comes to melee. On the dmg table they are low when using CD ..like under skald paladin champion and the other hybrids somewhere around inf sb etc.
As some1 said earlier with increase of RR PD realm ability combined with self bufs he hits with max 50% lower then a Blademaster but resists 2 times beter then him if he s pd5- 26+24% so u got urself a tought oponent if he has mopain IP and so on.

Vangonaj, there is not that big of a difference in damage between 4.7 and 5.5 with 2hand spec. Maybe 20%. By the way you will not be doing 240-270 to templated chain armor at level 50, I assure you.

The slowest 1hander in Hib is 4.1, right? Still almost 15% slower than my 2hander and then you add the 37.5% bonus to damage from my 2hand spec.

Then explain me how is posible that sbs can do 150 and more on ranger with main hand? 4,2 axe speed or 4,0 sword still faster than 4,7 spear.

Is that with PD? Remember I said my damage included PD. Most SBs I know complain about doing damage like 60(-61) to Rangers.

Only used engage and wounding thrust, with wounding thrust i did 240 damage. Used yar spear in duel.

I mean 150= 75(-75). With aurora borealis sb can do 210 damage on pd5 ranger.

Wounding thrust has high growth, yes. The most damage I ever did to a Warrior was 220 and that was with 5.5 DF spear.
