Hi all. Im considering making Uthgard my fulltime MMO Home. I live in Canada and have been playing Dark Age since release on and off, I like to think I know almost all there is to know about Dark age so the learning curve here on Uthgard shouldnt be to hard. However I am a little uncertain on a few details about Uthgard.

I skimmed the FAQ and didnt see much on what I need to know before I start to play here. If you could help with any info on some of the following questions, it would be a huge help! Another thing, I plan on playing a solo class to start/level with and rvr with, that is until I make some friends or join a guild or whatever down the road so, that being said...


1. Its classic, so buffbots in rvr dont work at all correct?



2. I can duel log in PvE a bot to help myself level yes or no? Is this frowned upon?


3. What is the current best gear you can get on Uthgard? from what xpac or zone? Laby gear? Crafted stuff? Dragon zone stuff?


4. What patch/melee style lines are we working with on Uthgard?


5. Is there housing/Buff potions etc..?


6. Are the realms balanced very well population wise?



7. I know very little about Uthgard, feel free to let me know any info that you think is neccesary before I start.

More than frowned upon, this is strictly forbidden. Actually dual login is forbidden for any purpose.

The crafted one is the best you can get. Dragon zone stuff is below crafted, and there's no Laby stuff.

The 1.80 patch is the current limit on Uthgard. http://daoc.catacombs.com/cbuilder.cfm is pretty much accurate on classes skills.

Devs are working on getting Old Frontiers aswell, instead of the current NF + Agramon.

Sweet, it sounds damn near perfect in almost every aspect imaginable except the no dual logging part ><. After 7 years ish of lvling toons in daoc I was hoping that it would be easy here, or atleast allow me to bring a bot along as I solo to minimize the frustration and downtime.

Not sure how the heck im going to level a stealther the old fashion way now it would be ROUGH, well its rough I guess for any class with no money etc.. on startup. So whats the community like here? are there folks out there who are willing to help out a newcomer with some starter coin for wep's or armor or buffpots? Is there many actual PvE groups going on at all times of the day that would accept a stealther or newcomer to their group? Or is there really only alot of guild powerleveling groups going on?


Another question I had was about the Archery system, Old or New? I forget what patch it fell under.

Indeed I heard that and read it a few days ago which is what got me really interested in Uthgard.

Also, I couldnt find them on the Catacombs link so what realm ability set are we currently using? and are we planning on reverting to Old frontiers RA's or?

in the low level being a stealther should be no handicap for leveling..
from 40 to 50 it could become harder but not impossible.

for archery..on uthgard we use old system..

i would not say that realms are currently balanced, in fact there are so many mids that they have or love to go in more than FG, when most of them are more than suitable to win fights with less ppl.

You can easy-mode xp by leveling in battlegrounds. Enemies give x10 xp of a normal mob, so as a stealthers who does solo kills xp-ing this way is preety nice.

Nice, im not totally set on playing a stealther, it just seems like the most viable solo pvp class atm for what im wanting to do. I cant seem to find an up to date for 1.80 Realm ability list, am I missing it somewhere on the catacombs link or? Is there one that you guys look at specifically for Uthgard?

Is there plans to revert to Old frontiers realm abilities for sure? Deffinately something I would like to know before I roll my class, thanks!

there is no official announcement about RAs, since there is no reliable source for coding-testing, still seems to be favored by the comunity this change.

Thanks for all the info/responses and help. Sadly I pussied out pretty quick lol. I spent about 2 hours playing my lowbie nightshade and decided that I just cant hack it without a support bot/dual logged 2nd account! Awesome server though and im sure it will be around forever and do great for years to come.

Sadly im just not the most social person at times and hate to rely on other people to progress my own character. I mean sure I could solo grind the whole way there with massive downtime and hardship but really, after years of doing it on live servers, I guess I just got used to the current perks to xp that helps speed up the process for those of us who like to solo. That and id be playing off hours which would make it even tougher to be social and level the old fashion way with groups of e friends.

<sigh> A shade and bardbot would have made the grind bareable.

In regard to the amount of players per realm, as well as the average level of toons, realms are balanced. What you're pointing out is a lack of end RvR activity in other realms.

Help ? ! Here is alot of help, when i first started out here ~3years i go met a special person (Esme) who took me and my friend under her wing and growed us like her own childs. And now, im managing my own Guild, i am volunteer Advisor and im trying to do everything that will make uthgard even better

So as long as i have played here, here is alot nice and sweet people.
