Hey guys, I'd like to have a poll concerning New Frontiers versus Old Frontiers.

I would love to have Old Frontiers instead of New Frontiers and I'm wondering whether the Uthgard community thinks the same or not.

Of course, I would never demand a rollback to Old Frontiers because I know this is hardly possible and that it would require too much time for our unpaid lovely devs :D

I just want to talk about that, and see whether a lot of people would like it or not.....

I really don't like the way New Frontiers is shaped. I mean, Old Frontiers' terrain was perfect, each zone was different, there were great mountains, small deep valleys (ellyls!), deep forests, open fields.. Wherever you'd go, it was different and I think Mythic did a great a job on these zones.
Now, I see almost no difference between Forest Sauvage and Pennine Mountains (lol, talk about a mountain) or even Snowdonia. Spots are scarce and people seldom come there to xp (apart from Agramon)

I know my opinion is subjective because I really was in love with the old game with old frontiers and SI, it was my best game experience ever.

Now that I shared my opinion, share yours :)

the thing is it doesn't really matter because we actually use just one zone, the agramon is good pick imho with decent diversity and good layout

also implementing new zone would require work which could be useful somewhere else imho

oh last and not least, you would need to download those zones if I am not mistaken or at least their maps?

Old Frontiers zones are still contained in files when you download the game actually. They kinda put New Frontiers on Old Frontiers without erasing them, and there was a video on youtube with a minstrel or a bard (don't remember), who got through a bughole and found himself in Old Frontiers. Now this has been fixed as they implemented an invisible wall there.

But Old Frontiers still exist! Let's dig :D

About what you said about Agramon (which to my opinion cannot be compared to old Emain Macha or Hadrian's Wall), Old Frontiers was not just about rvr, but also nice xp spots, nice quest spots (like the ellyl village) and just nice layout.. These zones also respected background much more than now.

If the population increases OF would make my day. I think Agra is a good fit right now.

I still prefer new frontiers for:
1- Forced to pass only 1 gate = camping+zergs
2- Have to spread rvr population in 3 different load-zones
3- Realm in own frontiers has to walk so much if doesn't have keeps (at least now we have boats)

Uhm..

Agramon is too small. Fact.

Old Frontiers kicks ass. Fact.

Emain would become the main RvR zone. Why? On basicly ALL DAoC servers Emain was the main RvR zone and combining players from all those servers would still give you Emain as most active zone.

Staff just put a lot of work into the new RvR system. Fact.

Probably nothing will change... :(

I vote OF!

Well i'd say it's starting to get to a point where its feasible to have another zone atleast to rvr in, since agra feels very small when there is 3-4 hib groups running.. not sure how many different alb/mid groups are out there tbh, but today it was kinda boring to find a fg just to see 1-3 fg hibs be there, or just arrive at same time.

my 2 cents on the subject.

ps- I loved OF, but not to sure how to work it out ;P but i really liked the old keeps ds

First step would be to remove the camps imo. In Theory the RvR zones have gotten larger, however in reality nobody goes past the camp if they to RvR and dont want to care a lot about keepzergs.
