Why do you think the Ranger is OP ?

I've got a question for those who believe Ranger are OP. What part about the ranger is not classic live like. Please explain what it is, like if you think its Physical Defense, then explain what is bugged about PD. If its the dmg, then show some comparable dmg from live to uthgard and why the NS doesnt have this OP dmg too. Remember, most of you seem to be asking for custom changes, which the staff said wouldnt ever come, so if its a bug, report it with proof and all.
I find it intresting when i see SB take on many enemys with little trouble and even kill multi enemys that maybe on them , but if they lose to a ranger the ranger is the OP one. And the SB doesnt have PD, IP, or any of that stuff that is being complained about, but yet vs most other enemys, they can kill as good, if not better then a ranger. If there is a valid bug with the ranger, report it, that is how it suppose to be done. If there is bugs holding your classes back, like the hunter's pet and so on, then report it , to fix up your own class, or is it just easyer to nerf your enemy lol. Unless a real valid bug is reported and proven, there shouldnt be any custom nerfing and i hope the staff know there hasnt been any valid proof agenst the ranger, for a bug with them. Most of the talks is only about the ranger being strong with the right RA's. But if we where to nerf based on that, there is many other classes who would need custom nerfing also. |

I got my old rr5L2 ranger for sale. Make an offer and if you win it, then one of you ranger bashers can do some testing and prove there is a bug and pin point it. You can test out damages, compared to live, you can test out dual hit chance, you can test out PD. I've tested alot of this on my own and found it all to be correct, but id suggest for some of you to do the same, so you can move on. Go make bids or make a ranger to do some testing yourself. But if you do win my ranger, dont play it too much, you may get addicted

this video don t show nothing more than how op rangers are here. this yeah seem a classic server (Urgestein dunno what mean, but if is salisbury i played it too) and we all know that classic daoc have a lot of things here not implemented (CL's, EPIC Weapons, new epic armours, overcap on all stats and yeah, complete RA's new system). what i have see on this video is a good player (nothing to say about this) that kill A LOT OF NO BUFFED PPLS ... mean no potions (maybe around 90% of kills are ppl that run maybe 1 str potion) and die against a full defensive 1h paladin even with using IP. Ask Ronia if he die against a paladin, or, if he need to use ip ^_^ anyway a lot other things can be said about this video - this run slash ranger spec NO BOW, here 90% of rangers are thrust (A LOT DIFFERENT) and spec bow too (i get crit shot on my inf for 700dmg/hit a lot of times, from ronia too) - a lot of his opponents are very low rank and maybe with 0% slash resists (see min 10.xx where he basically 3 ****** 2 infs myrmidon) - look fight at min 15,xx against hunter (and before against scout). This is a melee ranger against a not melee scout/hunter (they tried to use bow a lot of times, this mean they don't run melee spec like this ranger with 12 bow, doing more damage with slash style). This was really good 1on1, on each side, ask ronia how go here a duel against a scout or hunter ... - fight at 16.xx against rr9 inf, he used ip and killed the inf with 5% life left. Inf thrust spec critical (NO MELEE). Ask Ronia how work here against full critical infs - fight at 17.xx against Friar. I really had a lot of fun see this. Ranger played really really good, anyway needed rr5+ip+some really good skill to win. And Friar have heals styles too. Ask Ronia how work here against Friars ... a lot other things can be said, but, really, i don't understand the point of this video showing a normal ranger playing on a totally different server spec than Uthgard, running poisoned weapons (but this can be done here too). Don't forget, on video, u ll see only good inc so, at the end, this video for me prove how op are rangers here with this ra's system and with all the problems there are on melee system. Here NO CL's Here NO EPIC WEAPONS Here Friars don't have heals style Here 2h/polearm/spears/staff are hardly bugged Here infs have 1200hp's etc. etc. etc. etc. and how perform ranger? A LOT BETTER THAN WHAT SHOWN ON THIS VIDEO, because totally destroy hunters, totally destroy infs crit spec, totally destroy friars etc etc etc etc u have tryied to show ranger here work well but, sorry for u, u are demostrating that here is BY FAR OP compared to opponents i see on this video. cu |

i personally don't think rangers are overpowered as a whole. if a melee ranger has ip2/3 of course he's going to beat a shadowblade. it's just a class advantage. it's like crying that your infiltrator died to a warrior because he used slam + conquer/sledge combo. daoc is not balanced, and there are inherent imbalances designed into the classes.
i feel thats stealthers are poorly formulated for our setting. i think stealth archers have no business having access to PD here, and i also feel that melee stealthers have no business having access to viper here. it doesn't feel classic in any way. this isn't a ranger issue at all. it's a "nixian's signature" issue. without toa bonuses in our SCs, why do we have the same overpowered toa bonuses in our RAs? in my opinion there aren't much RAs besides these 2 in any other classes that make the game feel substantially un-classic. in group fighting NF RA only has a minor effect. in group combat the main difference between NF and OF RAs is that under NF melee seems preferred while caster gets the shaft. in OF RA melee are much easier to stop and mages are also considerably stronger than they are now. in the stealth game PD and viper completely change the gameplay. It makes melee stealthers focus on dot repeating and it makes almost all archers spec for melee. if you want to stop all the crying and make the stealth game fit our classic setting just disable archer PD and melee viper. i like the basic idea of OF RAs. it forces people to play better and learn their classes instead of having so many cheap easymode options like charge, viper, and PD. only thing that annoys me about OF RA is the 30 minute purge.
if the choice were mine, i'd jump for "customize" our current RAs to fit a classic setting or "customize" OF RA to fit our reduced OF zone teleport times. it's a shame i have no say, though ^^ |

I don't have any real problem with rangers, but if I was to say what makes them so "OP", it would be a combination of several factors. The fact that there isn't just one or two things that sticks out makes it difficult to pinpoint what those who cry foul want as far as corrections go, so anyone who defends rangers can point out the flaw in reasoning by harping on a single issue that is brought up, thus believing they have negated all points as to why a ranger might be OP. Here is a list of things, and keep in mind it is the combination of these factors and not a specific one:
- Stealth. The can choose battles. Also under this is MoS and camo, which are awesome tools. - Two weapons. The extra damage provided by two weapons plus the defense penetration (halve evade and block) make two weapons the best type of melee damage available. Damage add also shines here as it affects both weapons. - PD. In my opinion this should only be given to casters, which is why Mythic removed it from archers later. - Self buffs. I can't understand why Mythic gave these to the ranger in the first place rather than some other toy(s) like they did with the other archers, giving them a pet or shield spec. The powerful nature of buffs is probably why Mythic gave them to all archers later on. Not the mention adding pots to this. - Speed burst. Not that big of an issue, but this is a great tool for escaping or running down fleeing targets. - Reinforced armor. More of a problem for other stealthers as they don't have access to this type of armors weakness (crush). - Poison sharing. They can benefit more than other archers doing this as they can apply two poisons simultaenously, and wouldn't have to switch out like a s/s or 2h class would. Again, I don't have a problem with rangers and am just trying to see the side of the argument of those that do as well as these being minor or insignifcant issues on their own, but culminated create a very powerful class. The other two archer classes were given tools to accomplish some of the same things, but most don't compare to what the rangers have. Also and issue I see is that rangers don't have as apparent weaknesses as some other classes have. Coupled with other classes being bugged or broken doesn't help either. Just my 2 cents. |

Good One lol. But that isnt my opinon of the ranger, but of the ones who are crying. Bid and if you get it, see how your opinon changes. Or at least go and make one and prove your point. But anyway, yes Old RA's is one way to go to have some effect on rangers. But there is still other Ra's like Avoid Pain, which is kinda like PD, but on a timer. So yes it will not be up all the time. But on the other side the ranger will not have to deal with Viper assasins, which will really take away alot of dmg for an assasin. The only issue i see with old ra's is how crappy stealth will be, as there is no MoS for rangers, but then again MoS only affects movement, not detection, on old system. And see hidden or detect hidden, which ever it is, that they have to spec for will give assasins an advantage over all other stealthers, but with camo up and true sight enable, i exept many complaints agenst that lol. New RAs , Old Ras. They both have there issues and will be complained about as they are now. |

but what is different to live on ranger here? so you want a nerf cause, in your oppinion, it is needed? you dont want a nerf cause the ranger settings on uth doesnt match the live ones? |

Assasins and rangers melle dmg is higher then it should be , the way how str affects dmg is not set livelike and will never be , they hit like hibrids and thats the reason why they are op.

Well...infi will be hard with second pa, but if i remember right bow classes get a timer ra that allows to see stealthers like they are unstealthed for a short time. I think it only works against assassins while assassins have same ra against bow classes. To be honest i dont know the details anymore of those ras. I think Astealoths idea with OF RAs on a shorter timer would be a good idea. In Classic most players didnt spec any active RAs because of the long timers and instead chose passives only. With a shorter timer it would be more interesting. |
