Exactly the reason why some some smallgroup players/soloer left - i guess.

It would be fun to see a NF porter to agramon - wonder how many would like to go back T.T

so this would be a good solution:

Emain: 2%-5% RP / BP / whatever Bonus for FGs / Groups with 4+ ppl in it
OG / HW: 2%-5% rp / BP / whatever Bonus for Solos / groups with < 3ppl in it

Its not to split up the action. Its just for all the people who go wiping at Emain AMG and then start QQ that there is no solo zone.

Its more like a little inducement for going there and having some solo / small group rvr instead of PvEing / wiping / farming greys in DF etc.

Maybe combine it with the keeps. The more keeps some realm has taken in that zone, the stronger the bonus is. (1 Keep -> 1 % or something like that)

just my 2c

Uthgard OF RvR - my personal point of view

first of all i gotta add, most of the replies i saw have been from Stealthers or solo players, saying that OF killed solo rvr and uthgard (lol) - and how Emain Amg is giving them a hard time because there are fgs of stealthers... How about OG and HW ? if you start to populate these zones - they will grow to be 1o1 and smallscale designated, just crying about how much Emain sucks for solo rvr is pathetic - Emain was and is the hotspot of the rvr action .. regarding 8man or zerg rvr and even stealth gangbangs ( and btw thats why there are fg of stealthers, because Amg is right inbetween hib and mid, so a hib wont run double the way to Mmg and viceversa for a mid who wont run to DL or at least way past Amg, spoken of stealthers)

Most of you were just so used to instant action that agramon and NF provided - the point you didnt realize (maybe because you didnt play on live as OF was there or any other reason) Old Frontiers got NO INSTANT I PEW PEW ACTION - yes rvr used to be way slower in the old days then with NF

I do agree with people saying that the playerbase is too small to populate 3 OF zones(regarding online players- still to much people lvl and farm in order to get into rvr) BUT! why just dont try
-> my personal idea how rvr could work out that everyone is satisfied
solos and Smallscale: try to populate HW/OG
to 8man or more : flexible to all zones, but will be Emain at most of the times
and my concern adressed to the GM's and Devs - allow us to announce in irc where the action is (not like fgm/a/h at loc/spot X, just the zone) e.g.
1on1 and Smallscale please come to HW
8v8 please come to OG
8+ please come to Emain
-------
sorry for the wall of text and almost no formatting, had to crop lots of the text otherwise it would have been way to long

i just hope people grow to realize what OF rvr action cant be compared to NF rvr action ( and yeah its harder to gets lots of rps now )

so long,
Gyrdl
And those who are about to rock, i salute you!

Would it be possible to add a BP/RP bonus to a realms underpopulated OF zones. Like if everyone is in emain, and almost no one in odin or hadrians wall, it could add a small bonus to those other zones, to encourage soloers and others to actualy try something other then emain. This would have to be in realtime or hourly to check population in those zones, and lvl 50's. If this is possible.

yes, this is being discussed and Blue proposed a BP bonus for solo/small groups. It would be a great solution, even if implemented only temporarily.

Blue wrote:Ok, what about a BP bonus for soloer and small groups to make building groups a bit less attractive from BP view. This could balance the current situation a bit. More soloers would at least try to meet other soloers in zones like Hadrians or Odins.

What I have in mind is this:
1 player - 75% BP bonus
2 player - 50% BP bonus
3 player - 25% BP bonus
4 player - 0% BP bonus
...

We could decide to activate that in a special zone or better in whole OF and players try to establish solo/small man areas by themself by trying. I think the major change in thinking here would be that its somewhat worth to run smaller. So more solo/smallman groups show up in the distant zones.

I just want to quote/bump this as a great solution to the current problem. Activate the bonus either in OG or HW or if you really insist in both zones, but NOT Emain.
As I said, the bonus can be a temporary solution, lasting perhaps two months, until players establish those zones for solo/smallgroup play. Once established, even with the bonus removed people will know where their prefered type of action is, and will keep coming.

Even if it were a perma buff i don't think many people would have a negative side effect of it, espescially not the fg's, cause they don't need to have large amounts of bp points to buy charges, they have their assists to give them bonuses

Only problem with making emain a non solo zone and bonus only in the other two is, that the grps will end up moving to the other zones to have grp kills and soloers to eat up. And after a week or so i wouldnt be suprised to see odin or hadrian turn into the prim rvr zone then, because they get grps and solo/small grps. So limiting the bonus to 1 or 2 of the realms OF, isnt really going to help and if its only in 1 zone, that will be the main rvr zone then, like emain is currently.

If they made it a bonus , that was only located in the realm OF zones with the least players, it would encourage people to go there to solo, but as soon as a grp dies, they will decide to fallow the bonus also, even if they dont get the bonus, what they get is soloers locating there.

perhaps, but then they have to leave all the action and rp's @ emain, what you say perhaps will happen in low hours but not as often in peak hours, fg (especially those elite/snob fg) want other fg's or even zergs to kill instead of looking after small groups or stealthers.

Ya i know during peak hours the FG croud will prob stick to most active zone, and lets the solo/small grps to change to bonus zones. But if the bonus is static, during low pop hours, everyone will be in the static zone, and as pop goes up during the day, they will all be in that static zone, thats why the bonus has to be in all zones or changes according to populations in zones.

I 'm one of those hated "hitting lvl 50-loving bg more-now rolling new toon" guys. I tried OF a couple of times. Never got an invitation, hardly made solo kills, hardly lived longer than for 5 minutes (except the moments nothing happens and you are waiting for an enemy 30 minutes and die instantly anyway). You could blame me for not having perfect equipment (blame midgard for not supporting me), blame my low realm rank (curiously, i cant improve...), blame my class (I play well i think), or blame me for not being buffpotted all the way down to the toes (cant spare) but although I only know DaoC from Uthgard this makes me feel that this situation is not right for soloers, nore none guilders.

I got the impression, some of the mates yelling for more players in OF dont care if those new players will actually have fun there; only thing their eyes show is arpees greed...

To everyone who has just joined this thread and apparently didn't take the time to read what has already been said... (sigh) here's a quick summarisation:

Why is solo/smallman dead?

* It's taking too much time and effort to get to the zone where the only action is: Emain. Even here, action is almost inexistant since you either get killed by the AMG zerg or FGs. If you actually meet someone it's unusual to find him/her before 20 minutes of gametime.

* There is no real alternative to this, since there's no incentive to pick either Odin's above Hadrians or vice versa. This leads into both zones being dead, since they are assumed to be dead.

Now, what does NOT work?

* Granting bonusses to BOTH Hadrians and Odins. Simply because it's not giving ONE single zone for the soloers/smallman to go to. Uthgard does not have the population (and definately not the smallman population) to use both zones.

* Granting RP bonusses. Blue has stated soloers and smallman do not need these and will not recieve them. BP bonusses will be good enough to bring solos/smallman where they need to be.

* Granting bonusses to everyone. This solves NOTHING, you need an incentive for soloers (most importantly, because smallman action will folow solo action) to go to ONE spot.

What are working solutions then?

* Give a static BP bonus to solos (and eventually also smallmans, like Blue stated) in Odins. This also works in Hadrians, but it's simply a pain in the ass to run through Pennine Mts. Hence, Odins is the best option.
This bonus can be given on the most active hours, so that at off-peak hours, Emain is still the main zone. This will prevent players from building FGs in Odins, since the bonus would make Emain die out on off-peak hours.
So:
- the solo (and smallman) BP bonus should be in Emain from 1am GMT+1 to 1pm GMT+1 to concentrate action in the most used zone in off-peak hours.
- the bonus should be moved once activity starts rising, so that solos have their separate zones and FGs will still be able to roam around Emain without a decrease in action. This means: shift the BP bonus from Emain to Odin's Gate from 1pm GMT+1 to 1am GMT+1 (primetime).

* Solve the issue of the "getting into the RvR zone downtime" for non-speeder classes by one of the following methods:
- Implement a NF-style portal keep for the home realms to the primary secondary zones. (explained in my former posts, Blue knows what I'm talking about normally)
- Implement a 185 value hastener speed buff at the border keeps (lasts 5 min to prevent 'abuse').
- Implement horse routes from the border keep.
- Lower the porting timer to 5 minutes, as long as one or more of the above are in place.

This is what it comes down to, I've not seen a single solution that's actually viable so far besides these. So please, staff, focus on this and try to see the flaws in the other solutions (aswell as in the above, if there are any, I will try to solve them).

Sounds ok to me. Lowering porter times can only be done when horse routes exist for the "walking" realm to cut around 35% of their walk time. The BP bonus in emain can be triggered by the amount of players in OF in general.
It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.
