What about implement a control like this:
- I log in Midgard with Stormterror;
- I press "/who agramon" and see who is doing RvR;
- then I log off for log my Hibernia char Erdie;
- the server check my IP, see that the same IP that 1 min ago was with a Mid char and now is going to use a Hib char;
- the server block my login as with my hibernia account for like 10min;
- I have to stay with my Midgard char or wait 10min (or more).

So I can't xrealm.

Problems:
- This ll works with people like me with a static IP.
- Who use the same IP of another player have to report it to a GM.

Another solution can be create a script who record the MAC code of the client.

I think it _must_ be something with account registration, otherwise
- you will have problems with people who are playing over the same IP in different realms, e.g. flat-sharing community
- or it will be easily bypassed by just resetting the internet connection

I can't support the argument that you XP in realm A and get called to RvR in realm B or even worse you do RvR in realm A and change to RvR in realm B. This is something I clearly don't want to see. You should stay in your primary realm all the time.

Im just curious... i spose some things ilude me;/ we have a lvl 50 for every class and prolly of each race too in daoc, why are we all rolling alts? every1 can admit that pve on uthgard is prolly the worst experience.

other then if your r10 w/e been playen ur toon way too long why else would u reroll to a new server? cause imba issues better action free rps... these are all the reason why a game like daoc has a hard time cause ppl want whats easy and very rarely up for a challenge ;/

Thats your opinion but I would hate it to doomed into one realm. I love hib but want to try other chars (again) too. Remember on live there were more servers. So the whole opening post is just nonesense.

There is only one (!) reamining daoc server worth playing.

30 min timer would do it. But to force players stop playing other realms would make me leave here I think.

Gah! This is very bad. Both my wife and I play, we appear to come from the same IP, and we both have different e-mail accounts.

We might start playing characters on other realms, but don't want to get banned just because we use our actual e-mail addresses!

I think just putting in an IP address lock that temporarily prevents logging over to another realm to x-realm people would be feasible without even messing with the e-mail address. Don't you?

Edit: I realize just now that this thread has undergone thread necromancy. Still, if it's not locked, I think my question is fair game.

yea 30 mins isnt bad, stops the xrealming true issue of ruining a relic raid or just switching for free rps... and who is going to waste 30 mins of doing nothing so they can get an extra 20% xp when u already getting 60% lol.

ofcourse there is no super reliable way of doing this with out going overboard, so my suggestion is that a ip lock wouldnt be a bad thing/with exempt IPs for people who have families or roomates that play opposite realms? somehow i kinda doutb any situation like that since i personally would rather play with ppl i know then ppl i dont :)

i dont mind the xrealmers i just want them to play a different realm so i may have their rps!

Sadly this might actually be true for quite a few Uthgard players, however I play DAoC (and Uthgard) because I love to play a challenging game. 95% of the other MMOs are just so easymode that you've seen it all before u actually logged in.
