Ideas to improve the current RvR situation No. X

Sarcasm is fun

How is that unreasonable, because where do you draw the line? "Wow has rez points closeby to most locations, why can't we have that in DAoC", will that be the next question? Or "why can't I bind in PVP zones, you can in PVE", how's that one. Another could be "why can't we have /level 50".
The ultimate answer is "because Uthgard chose to give us the whole/actual MMORPG experience without insta gratification bullcrap while frantically trying to keep out the bad game decisions Mythic made along the road", and I applaud them for that. |
|
...We draw the line where we see fit. Is that a rational response to any change at all?
"Oh, we can't change that because we might go too far with it! We can't change anything at all! We're incompetent!" Give me a break. |
|
Again, you probably never tried rvr on uthgard. I do and really I can't see what "MMORPG Experience" will be missing if we put istant ports to apk/mpk/keep. You talk like we are asking staff to give us /level 50 lmfao. |
|
Instead of asking about fast port to encore your rps/hours by a few fights between the same grps over and over, you should try help to newcomers love rvr instead blame or let them die to high rank grps ( and yes you and others guilds do it!),helping them win a battle or let them enjoy some battles instead kick them from "your" battlefield. We need more people, no fast ports for the same ones . |

Atleast its a test worth

Noone "kicked" anyone from any battlefield. What you're doing here is to whine against the 8v8 groups like Rare/KT for not adding your fights so you can leave them alive and ruin the fun of your opponents. Guess what - if you can't win a fight with 8, run with 16, don't ask others to add your fights. And yes, we need more people in RvR. But the solution to that is having players with a decent knowledge of RvR build groups around them and teaching the nubs, not slowing down the groups that are RvR-ing already. But whats about solos for example (stealther or whatever) they running running 20min and after that they get no luck and a full grp kill them. With a instant port he would not loose so many time , i think thats a reason as well of more and more stealther grps |

The problem is not the time to get into RvR, it's the requirements that have to be met in order to be able to compete.
Of course, combining a boost for both will definately help, but simply speeding the RvR influx up isn't going to change the fact that you will get steamrolled if you don't run A) a stealther (group) B) a near perfect PuG or decent GG or C) a PuG-style 10+ slot grp. The most important boost Uthgard end-RvR needs is a drastic lowering of the standard requirements for enjoyable PvP. Currently they're so high that only the most determined players will stick around, leaving BGs as the obvious alternative to all who want to just enjoy a good couple of hours of RvR here and there throughout the week. Getting rolled faster by the same unbeatable enemies will not change the current situation as much as it's generally expected... PS: This is NOT something the players have/are able to fix themselves. The "Well then, just run out and fight with what you have"-argument is simply retarded. Doing so will only chase away the players that were convinced by such a foolish statement because in order for this tactic to work, you need about double the current RvR population out in the frontiers. A handful of convinced casuals won't change a thing. Not for them, not for anyone else. But yea, I've covered this before, I'm just pointing out that speeding up the action isn't by far the core solution of the actual problem. So please -to those who are- stop acting like it is. ![]() |

Well I don't understand you. If a solo run 20 mins w/o incs and he dies to a fg probably he doesn't want to wait 7 mins more the port. Isn't it better for him if he /rel, wait 3 mins cause of sickness and try again to find other soloers? |

: )))))))
This is 2010. Daoc is too old for newcomers. Uthgards problem is not that endgame rvr is not "CASUAL FRIENDLY" because daoc is not a casual game. Uthgards real problem is that there is TOO MUCH players who want to play daoc casually. I don't want more casuals in rvr, how would that help me have GOOD fights more often?

Good ideas in my opinion, something needs to be done about the current RvR situation for certain.

Just for the record: Try to go on with the discussion without provocations and sarkasm. Different opinions: yes. Personal insults and provocations: no.
Thank you. |

It seems you rather have an empty RvR zone till primetime, upon which it would be populated with only the standard usual non-casuals. Rather than one that's richly filled with different players every day... You act like players who don't spend their entire day to DAoC shouldn't even be allowed to RvR... ![]() Oh and don't act like u can't have good fights against casuals. Ever heard of tough fights without equal numbers? It's not about making the frontiers a noob-friendly zone where every clueless trio can wtfpwn everything in sight. It's about making the frontiers a zone where a handful of decently skilled/geared players can enjoy RvRing for about 1 or 2 hours and log out with a satisfied feeling. It's about making it possible for even the weaker players to find like-minded players, team up without having to spend too much time trying to get the best setup or number and just go out and make a few kills regardless, making it possible to enjoy DAoC casually, for anyone willing to take the time to just go out and see what's out, to an extent regardless of setup, number and skill. To be quite honest I quit playing for a few weeks now exactly because I don't want to spend 30 minutes standing in DL trying to get the perfect 8man. In fact getting the perfect 8man has been my occupation on Uthgard ever since I really got to RvRing exactly because every other form as a non-stealther isn't worth spending your time on in the long run. Then again trying to build that 8man is a frustrating timesink itself, especially in Hibernia, which is why a LOT of players who like RvR in its whole won't bother with end RvR. The requirement to enjoying yourself is way too high compared to the requirement to simply enjoy a form RvR. It's THAT cycle that has to be broken, it's the fact that that is the only way to seriously enjoy end RvR besides by rolling a stealther which makes so many people turn away from end RvR for good reason. Why would anyone not obsessed by maxing their play, their skills and their RPs prefer waiting an hour on a good grp over inviting 5 people in a BG and have fun for the remaining 50 minutes? It's got nothing to do with creating a fairytale reality where every noob will get his easy RPs out of nowhere... It's somewhere inbetween, and like it or not, it's the casuals that made RvR shine. Back in 2001 and yes, still in 2010 aswell. After all, if there's absolutely no need for casuals in end RvR, wouldn't we all be praising the current RvR situation by now? |
