Well if u are worried about that spying thing, then that timer wont solve a thing, since thats what the irc is for. You just ask from some enemy side that whats going on and there u have it.

exactly irc ftw ^^

still the Timer would prevent logging between realms in order to defend a relic for example, after its beeing announced in the /broad.

or these stupid /sends from lvl 1 chars complaining about the last fight ect.

any news here?

crossrealming is a problem, we even had to kick a guild out of our ally because of that.
With a working mechanismn to prevent crossrealm-spying or a realmchange cooldown timer, the kick might not have been necesarry.

though was rather fanatic with this timer in the past, i gotta add something now:

the cross-realm-timer should take into account the level of the characters played...

currently i hardly ever got more than 20-30 mins apiece for playing, so i usually just kill some mobs for camp-bonus with my huntress....however, sometimes it turns out i have more time than expected and then i log to my caby to get some grp for rvr...

so the timer should only kick in for a certain realm if the player played a level 48+ character in this realm....

example:
i play my 50 cab on alb...when i try to log in on any other realm i shouldn't be able to do that for a given time

i play my 40 huntress on mid (and didn't play any other toon in the last hours)...when trying to log to a level 50 char on alb i should be able to do that...however, logging back to mid shouldn't be possible due to the case above...

advanced checks:
i play my 50 cab on alb...trying to log to some 48+ toon on another realm should fail, but i should be allowed to log to lower toons on that realm...

the last case is very special and i'm not sure if that's alright actually, but imh it's fine...level 47- players are usually not temped already and lack skills, so they hardly make a difference...besides most ppl wont drag their non-50-toons from the places they logged them just for deffing relics :)

and as for spying: that won't be prevented by just adding a timer...many ppl have access to more than 1 machine, at least the ones interested in things such as spying...or they just ask ppl in irc or whatever...the main issue is logging to switch realm :)

pfff cross realming mainly takes place in irc/ts...
ve fun trying to prevent it with an acc based mechanism 8)

anyway cross realming is no big deal, we need content fixes.

A timer which prevents someone from changing the realm would creat much more problems than it solves. I really doubt that many ppl use x-realm to spy. There are for sure some ppl who use that but it is not such a big problem as some people may believe..
Such a timer would prevent many ppl from just staying logged in and wait on the desktop for some querys.
For example: If I arrive at home I start my computer and log on my cleric. Normally I get a message from someone who needs one of my toons for RvR (a.e. my shaman) so I just log off from alb and switch to my shaman to do some RvR on mid. I didn't spy the battlegrounds or other areas because (so simple..) I do not care ^^ But such a timer would destroy that kind of playing with friends which results in less action in Emain.

about 6 months ago i would have agreed that x-realming is not such a problem... but since the daily SH raids exist lately there show up around 3-4 fg enemys around dodens everytime a SH raid in mid starts. Too much coincidence for me, as the raids don't start at a fixed time

the fact that sh raids go public is ofc based on xrealming and not the plenty of people running to dodens to gank xpers and giving the information when a zerg pass to their realm.

yeah so the 3-4 enemy fg always show up about 30 mins before the raid starts (to the time it is announced in broad) by coincidence... actually they missed the SH raid every time the last days i think, but only because the raid delays a lot to the announced start :D

oO I always had my characters tempted with level 47. The argument that a lvl48 makes a difference and a lvl 47 does not is.... invalid.

Plus I do not think that the mainproblem with x-realmers is the insane amount of albs that log to defend the hibrelics :gaga: , but rather the exchange of information, which can be done by a lvl 1 just like a lvl 50.

So IF anyone would want to prevent X-Realming alltogether (which I think would not be very easy and a big disadvantage for the Uthgard community) it wouldnt make any sense at all to spare certain levels.
