This post sucks. Anyway what was suggested earlier sounds good to me. Decrease porting timers a bit and maybe a horse route from DLigen/Svasud/CSauvage to a keep in Breifine/Jamtland/Pennine. |

Infact he made a point. Maybe just leave for a while, so that the staff get its feedback. Nothing talks better than numbers of active players. When u remember the server statistics graph. There was phase with low number of player -> Removing camp in Agramon. Same things just happens right now. More waiting less RvR -> NoFun. People quit. I think Pana already mentioned that point. In my case the decision is clear. I make an extensive break from level 50 "Waiting". Greetz Nes Inactive

As I told to someone before, when Mythic were so fine to us and gave use their complete server binaries of DAoC V1.52 and we would start it here, people would still complain. Please don't forget the mission of Uthgard.

So in principle: Staff is happy when mission accomplished - despite the number of players? I wasnt expecting that .

Thanks Blue ![]() Thats 100% what i would like, but with as little custom change as possible. And i enjoyed the first day of OF a lot. I am just afraid, that after the first change was made on day one, many other custom changes will follow and you will move away from this goal. |

Blue, I beg you to wake up while the server is still healthy. We all appreciate your work a lot, but you have to keep in mind we are not in 2002 anymore. I'm not trying to fill your heart with fear about your population, but I do want to make you see how fragile the RvR community really is, which I think you know after the removal of camps in NF. Please, do not make that mistake again, thinking that the RvR community is big enough to handle such wide areas without any complications. Uthgard is NOT like live and the largest and most influencing aspect of Uthgard that is different from live "back in v1.52 with complete server binaries" is that Uthgard has a population of approximately 1/4th of the population back in 1.52 or basicly any patch in the OF days. Just do the maths: 3000/700. This is really of invaluable importance for the server and community health. If you want your server to be able to maintain those 700 people and keep it a healthy and even growing population, you can not simply copy paste the entire work Mythic did for a server that is ment to have more than 2500 players! I hope you do not ignore this really important fact because if you do, this server will probably be a serious decrease in numbers during the next couple of months, which will only worsen the situation more. This is why we want to help you and give feedback about how we think OF would become a Positive instead of Negative factor for Uthgard and its population. What is the point in having an implementation of something 100% the way it was in the past on Live servers, when all it really does on Uthgard is create a situation where trying to enjoy yourself is just getting demotivating and in the end just not worth it? What's the point in working with sizes for an additional but inexistant 2000 players while this only makes it less fun for the actual, real 700 existing players? In the end it's about enjoying your free time, as a player this really comes first. If I feel I'm not enjoying myself as much as I want during my time on Uthgard, I will do something else, it's just that simple. However, if I feel I'm in the right place here on Uthgard, playing in Old Frontiers that has been scaled down a little bit (by some subtle classic-like measures that are there to keep the frustration caused by the low amount of players low) then I will stay here for sure, I will tell my friends and others troughout the internet and I will try to find as much people I can to share this experience with me. In the end, the community will grow because of the fact that the situation is just right and once there actually is a bigger population, the server is ready for an implementation like it is now, but not just yet. At the moment, keeping OF that's aimed for a larger population than Uthgard has in reality is only going to have a negative influence on the community and the size of the community. I hope I did not sound too aggressive, whining or emotional. I just think you should be careful and keep in mind that we are still just a small server with a gigantic (absolutely fantastic, but currently too large) RvR zone. I have stated my feedback and opinion on page 3.
You can not believe how happy I am that you said this. I wondered about this for such a long time, but now I also know for sure that you really have the perfect classic server in mind. The only thing this that is missing in your statement is that we should be keeping in mind Uthgard's population reality, and create an Origins based upon a playerbase of 700 instead of 3000. This would be the ultimate reward for both of us, players get to play on a setting that is absolutely ment to be played in the setting they play, which will make it a lot more enjoyable and staff will see a happy and growing community, which also makes the appreciation increase. Finally, I would like to thank the entire Uthgard staff again and humbly ask again to please not forget we are only 700 at best at this time. ![]() |

just ran out in emain, and there was plenty of action, 2 fg albs 2 fg mids and 2 fg hibs.. people just go to emain like they used to way back, therres enough action.

The post from Zarkor sums up the general frustration with the result of OF implementation. No one is frustrated with how great OF looks or the job of the staff. We all appreciate what the staff does for us. Most people voicing their opinion do like OF but it looked better on paper and now that it is implemented we are finding that the population of Uthgard cannot handle such a massive zone with long port/run times. Maybe in the future if Uthgard grows to 1500+ all times of the day with 400-500 players in RVR, OF will be sized appropriately. US prime time has always been a struggle to find action but in a smaller zone with quicker action it is still enjoyable.
The reality of the situation is that WE ARE USED to insta rvr action in a smaller zone and to the majority of players this IS MORE FUN than waiting 20 minutes to find a fight then get added and die and have to wait 20 minutes to fight again with the same possibility. When action is faster, its more fun, period. Also, people don't leave the server because the action is instant. Some players would prefer NON insta rvr action but they aren't leaving because of this. On the contrary people WILL leave because they have to wait. Many of us only get 2-3 hours to play per day on Uthgard. If we have to spend half of our time porting/running and looking for fights, I highly doubt many of us will be here much longer. I also doubt the server will grow beyond this point. On a positive note, OF is amazing. I love the look and the graphics and the job the staff did. Staff, thank you for OF. All of us, staff and community, let's stop the whine and the QQ and the bickering back and forth between us and let's ALL work together as ONE to make the changes MYTHIC FAILED to make and continue to make Uthgard the community/server that people want to move to. If you want action, go to emain, how hard can it be?

It's not so much about finding action.. its more about the delay. When you only have 2 hours to play, who wants to spend half of it running or porting to RvR? With the previous system it was nice because you could rebuff and be back in the action within 3-4 minutes. Now the time is 8-10 minutes. Many will say thats not a big deal, its only 5 minutes. Well do the math, every 10 deaths is an extra hour you spend running/porting.

Since most of the action is centered around a single MG. Dieing is minute buisness. If u goto the lonesome zones, dieing is not a minute-buisness, but finding action is a 10min++ job. RvR got more timeconsuming. EDIT: Just to give you an example: NF Agra: Frequently smallgroups/stealtehr at amg. Also plenty visible people. Of course they die vs all the fullgroups passing. BUT they can go back soon. NOW: Not possible you got up to 8min delay. NF Agra: Altough it was fully camped, you had a second milegate. Where u might escape and try to find similiar interested people. NOW: Just either 1 MG (heavily camped) or port with up to 8min delay into a vast zone, where the chance to find anybody is little.
