Solos can often leave the milegate area and walk offroads both from mmg and amg towards either Aliline or DC to meet other solos. Respected 8 mans don't gank visual people walking these routes since it it was pritty much considered lame.

Also in OF you had the small men grps in Odins gate and solos, and on primetime alot of soloing and small men was made in Hadrians wall near Hpk since at prime set grps used to go odins for stric 8v8 since the zerg was too big in emain for them.

Now Uthgard has a smaller population yes, so it will be diffrent for sure.

Time will tell how successfull OF will be on this server.

I really wish it would come close to this on Uthgard, but I doubt it will :(

Emain Zerg was fun RvR for almost everyone, especially for casual players who didn't have the time to form a decent group. Also you didn't need a fully sc'ed armour and weapons, actually you were probably above average if you just had your epic armour. Heck you didn't even have to be lvl 50 to be competitive there.. I got a decent number of kills there in my 30s. Though I have to admit that was back then, when there was no realm ability system yet, which was actually a pretty good time for casual players. People were RvRing for fun/honor/the glory of their realm. Keep sieges and even relic raids were a common thing those days.

Unfortunately I doubt many Uthgard players have the right mentality for somehing like this to be succesful. Most people are too focused on gaining rps fast to get those realm abilities, so they'll get even stronger (which isn't neccesarily a bad thing, it's their way to play the game, but unfortunately it often ruins the fun for another sort of DAoC player, namely the casual guy, who has a hard time even getting a decent template together and who probably rarely finds a competitive group for RvR)
Also the smaller number of players will probably be a problem, if not the greatest problem, since zerg vs zerg vs zerg fights like they used to happen all day in emain on official servers require quite a lot of people after all. Substract the number of players who absolutely hate zerging from the pool and I guess there's not enough people left to have some decent large scale fights.

Well, I'm still looking forward to OF very much and am curious as to how things will turn out once the change occurs.

Edit: Sorry for this post being pretty much off topic.
Concerning the idea of a new battleground: This on the one hand does seem like a viable option for some of the players, while it certainly divides the overall lvl 50 RvR population. All in all I think it's not going to help much... most of the guys who don't like fighting high RR groups at 4L2, won't enjoy fighting them at 6L2 either. Like someone else already said it's mostly a problem of mentality.
I for one wouldn't mind having RvR without any realm ability system, but I'm sure at least 80-90% of players will disagree with me on this one, because they have their goals set on achieving certain realm abilities (note: I'm not saying to abolish realm ranks, just abilities, as realm ranks can be a sort of achievement on their own).
So to put in a nutshell: In my opinion a 4L2-6L2 battleground will not help to solve the problem at hand.
