I spent that time running around RvR zones with a public, named /cg going, spamming /as and /b about it, so that people could join and provide/read intel about where enemies were. In those 3 hours, I was never able to get more than 10 people to join, despite the fact that there were always multiple groups in the zones where I broadcasted that it was open. I even sent tells to numerous Mids in Odin's, Emain, and Hadrian's and very very few joined the /cg.

The only reason losing x-realm spam makes it harder to find fights is because people aren't using the tools available to them to find fights. I personally don't want x-realm spam, in part because I think being able to organize your realm is part of how realms compete in DAoC, but the need to do so disappears when automated systems make active organization unnecessary (e.g. not just x-realm spam, but NF features like crosses on your maps).

I would suggest that people start using /cg's to communicate where fights are happening, where enemies are, etc. I don't know what the issue was today, maybe 8-man groups are too l33t for intel or something, but this was a regular activity in 2003 that needs to come back.

Nobody wants to dig a hole with a spoon. Just give people the shovel. What does it matter? "Perhaps shovels weren't part of 1.65." So pathetic really.
My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts.
You mustn't assume that your personal situation is a reflection of every other person that has logged in to Uthgard.

It's really not sisyphus work, and people rarely report non-raid size activity in large alliances because 90% of the alliance is probably not in RvR.

The fact is that RvR CGs were very much permanently open on every server I played on between 2002-2005, even after NF made it less necessary. The alternative is people can whine about not being able to find fights on the forums because the Devs didn't "spoon" feed them where the fights were.

You´re talking about the past, 12-15 years ago. The people aren´the same. People rarely (re)join or stay in cgs nowadays.

Right, because it hasn't been necessary on any server other than Uthgard, which is specifically intended to mimic the game from 12-15 years ago, at which time people were perfectly capable of doing /who cg followed by /cg join ___. Are you trying to tell me that this is just some impossible task for people to comprehend nowadays? Are people playing a 15 year old game almost entirely ignorant of how this worked in the past, so much so that they couldn't possible learn to type two commands?

I agree with Mordigg that this is a good solution if the devs are going to keep the death spam in a "fixed" state. I remember back in 2002, the very FIRST thing I did when I logged in or got ported out to a frontier was ask who has the RvR /cg. It was such a lovely convenience to know one was always running to find where the action is and to find a group. Of course, that was when realm pride and realm teamwork were a thing too, which isn't so much the case on Uthgard from my experience so far.

Really think they should revert the killspam change, during offhours its so hard to find out if theres people roaming or not, how big groups, and where they are. Its not that fun at 10am running through all zones, not knowing if you maybe missed them, or if they were never there.

This isnt an issue at the higher population times though. The "realm communication" through alliances, sends, chatgroups etc doesn't work. If people know where inc is, they don't share it, they go to kill it, or try to kill it before anyone else gets there.

I think we can come to the following conclusion:

For now, the current kill spam message is how it was when 1.65 was live back in 2003.
As always we will still keep on monitoring the RvR situation.

To exchange RvR information within your realm players have access to:
- Guilds
- Alliances
- Chatgroups
- Battlegroups
- Whispers
