I was online and in the Alb frontier for 8 hours stright (yes, I know - No Life) last night from 2 hours prior to the event's official start time until well after the Mids got the 3 power relics home. Maybe the Albs and Hibs who logged off didn't switch to their Mids, I don't know, but the Alb BG started at ~ 120, grew to 140 and then started shrinking after each wipe. By the time the last 2 relics cam thru MMG in HW we were down to about 30 Active Albs at MMG. |
|
Sure, but this has nothing to do with x-realming, that is and was always the case with zergs in daoc. After each wipe a lot of people leave in a zerg. Awesome job that so many albs came back so often! I bet one more wipe after our only wipe and half of the midgard zerg would have left ![]() |

Hibs could never get this numbers like Mids and Albs. We also started a bit late, so when the BG was opened at 18.00 Cet, there were already 120 mids raiding Beno. This didnt help to motivate.
I was suprised that only few Hibs showed up, Wiesensturm and I were starting some Keepraids 4 hours before the event. The idea behind this was to raid and claim some keeps in alb, that we could defend with the hibzerg. Therefore we upped the gates of Beno and Surs to 10 and also upgraded the keep to 10. But Hibs didnt like to zerg yesterday, i had the impression. For example there were many ppl in df (about 50) when we were calling to arms and also the weekly public dragonraid didnt want to stop for that event, they killed the dragon later with 47 ppl. First fight at hmg vs midzerg was fun, we killed a lot of and mids did need some time before they rushed us. For a 60 vs 120 it was very funny, for both sides i think. Second fight we had was vs albzerg just outside the htk and did last maybe 2 mins and Hibs were pulverized to dust. This was no fun for most of the Hibs. So half of the BG left (about 30 ppl) and then we were running with maybe 3 fgs through alb frontier, hopeing that we could find some smaller amounts of enemies like the 120+ before. Finaly we went to the str-relics, but unfortunately the albzerg was on his way back to Hadrians and did eat the 3 fgs of brave Hibs as a snack to go. ![]() After that also the 3 fgs stopped, some Hibgroups were roaming in Hadrians, but a real zerg was never build this evening from the hibs. Later the Mids took Surs too, last killmsg from the lord was "... killed by 150 enemies". |

it is possible, sure, and for many ppl it will be quite easy to reboot router and stuff, but still most casuals that think "omg hib is SO helpless vs this zerg, i'll join with my mid-toon" won't do that, if there's a timer...not only because they can't "overcome" the technical barrier but also the implicit social barrier which is like "if there's a timer against this, it's something bad"...also some might shy from rebooting anything and stuff, as this would circumvent an uthgard-security-mechanism, which most wouldn't want (again, progamers and such not taken into account) Genuine Spirit Cabalist since 2002

using a "timer" does not imply using ip-adresses. there are other ways and methods to create such timer ![]() ![]() Don't argue with idiots - they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. |

btw: A video of the whole event can be found at galandriels stream (http://de.twitch.tv/galauthgard).
For example: http://de.twitch.tv/galauthgard/b/376143156 The first really awesome fight against the albzerg starts at about min 2 and is just nice. I will also make a video from my frapsed parts. But i guess this time it will be quite a boring vid, as my best frapsed files are corrupt ![]() Thx to lupold for organising the awesome event, thx to all mids for the huge participation ![]() ![]() |
|
Albs used it to spy on mid zerg fo' sure ! |
|
+1 I guess a timer for switching the realm would destroy more than it would help... Most ppl will start doing something else (pve, bg, RL) if they get bored ... so the loosing zerg will get smaller even with a realm-changing-timer IRC: 09.01.2013(15:16:36) Dotto: we zerg if other realm zerg in rvr,, we never start zerg thats all! |
|
zomg, i just watch galas recorded stream (much better than working)... besides the flawless skald gameplay that hurts my unworthy eyes... impressive to see how nobody (at least definately not gala) listens to my commands in the bg.
At about min 55 i write like "albzerg behind us", "stop chasing the albs in front!", "MMG INC", "COME BACK!!"... and gala chases the last solo albs almost into pennine xD |
|
loosing zerg will get smaller (i think you cant avoid that point - its about the mentality of people) - but timer means the winning zerg wont get bigger (and thats exactly why i give my +1 for a timer ![]() thx for upvoting with this quote ![]() ![]() Don't argue with idiots - they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. |

In your own interest I would delay the streaming by 3 minutes. Abydos can help you to set this up. It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

Yeah Galandriel, but you have to make better setting, i tried watch it, it was 90% of the time freezed, because you dont have enough upload.
2012:<@[Uth]Abydos> If we don't have SI by the end of the year, Im fairly certain I wont be a GM anymore :-p

upload was capped to 2.5 mbit for ppl with slow internet.... my upload could go up to 10 mbit
edit: so if you could dl with only 300kb there should be no problem, we tested with severa internet-very-special-persons from guild and it worked fine for all Last edited by Galandriel2 on Mar 11, 2013 15:52, edited 1 time in total.

I'm a casual player and I like to play on the underdog realm and have characters in all 3 realms. I don't feel like my presence in any realm makes a big difference, but it seems like no realm stays the underdog long and each realm seems to get powerful eventually.
When I first started I was in Hib for awhile, but they had all the relics so I decided to go over and play Mid. I can remember a christmas zerg event and I tried to participate but it was a total disaster for Mid. No one was communicating and Mids were saying Mids cant compete in zerg events. And then some of the players wanted to do some other type of pve raid and were pulling people away from the event. Mid did nothing in that event and it was very frustrating. However, I like playing the underdog so I kept playing and amazingly Mid got stronger and they finally got the relics. They held them awhile and I decided it was time to try Alb. I've been in Alb the last year or two, but I can remember when I started in Alb the morale was low there and people said we never have df or relics. I stayed there and eventually Alb started doing well and got the relics. This past week I felt the urge to change sides again. I returned to Hib and I am happy to be on the underdog side again. I tried to participate in the zerg event. Unfortunately I arrived late to the event and what little I saw was not good. The zerg zig zagged around in peninine mountains and eventually went to relic keep in forest sauvage and soon after were wiped by Albs. I thought such an aggressive move was not wise considering our numbers plus the run there was slow and very boring to get to the relic and then accomplish nothing. Anyway I plan to stay in Hib as long as they are the underdog and help as much as I can. I fully expect that they cycle will continue and they will become dominant before long. I do not know how this keeps happening but maybe there are other players who are like me and switch to the side that needs help the most. |
