I to played from before the SI introduction on Live and vividly recall that if you wanted to solo w/ little downtime you killed blues and some low level yellows. Oranges were something you only killed every once in awhile, and as others have stated you were never supposed to be able to solo reds unless you were a very specific class with some good RR's and a great template.
I get it, its frustrating to play a game a certain way for X amount of time and then have it change on you over night. It is frustrating, but anyone who plays on this server, I would hope, would read up on the forums and get an idea of the server first. It wouldnt take many threads to realise that Blue has had a very definitive idea of what he wants for this server and if anything falls outside those lines then there is a very good chance it will be changed at some point. Some of these changes are good, others are bad, and some dont make sense, but regardless they are changes that are tested vs. live. If you really think they are wrong then go on Pendragon and prove where they are wrong. It is truly that simple. I read these forums every day through the week while at work. I have seen countless threads from pet using classes that complained about their pets not doing proper dmg. Blue confirmed this bug a LONG time ago and said it was tied into the mob dmg calculator and that mob dmg would be fixxed and put at a higher lvl. Now this is done and NOW everyone decides to go up in arms about it. I'm not saying making your complaints before he made the change would have made a difference, but it couldnt have hurt. Where was all this hate against the change when these threads were being dicussed? This change does hurt new low lvl toons, but it also helps pet using toons in PvP. Everyone says the GM's should do something to help the new players and they did. They made the cap on XP level ranges better so now people can group with higher level toons and not receive the XP loss, but nobody brings that up either. This has also been talked about in the forums as in most cases people were better off solo xp'ing as opposed to grouping and people didnt like that. Now with Mobs hitting harder and the cap being reduced you will see people group more often, but go figure, we the community ask for these changes and when we get them we complain.... I honestly dont know how you GM's do it. I dont like all your changes, but I at least understand your reasoning. ![]() |

I played on live in usa, and fighting oranges was very tough when the game first came out. So the recent changes may represent what the damage was like for the version level the devs want.
However, I am concerned for new players. Others in this thread have also shown concern for how this will effect new players. Maybe the devs hope that this will encourage people to group more and I would love for that to be the case. Since I believe the devs have said in the past they want to encourage grouping and player interaction I would like to make a suggestion to help players group more. When a monster is killed and experience is given out I would love to see a bonus given and a line added that says you received XXXX experience bonus for having X players in your group. An actual message stating a bonus for each person in the group would give players clear feedback that grouping is beneficial for leveling. I only make this suggestion because I like this server and I hope that it continues to grow and people continue to have fun playing on it. |

This bonus already exists and is called group bonus triggered by BAF's which easily reaches +100% XP in a group of 8 players. That you get such a bonus just for being in a group and killing single mobs would be incorrect. Groups are there to cooperate and have less downtime but gaining more XP per time unit. That should be the motivation to group, as you are inefficient when solo. Previous weak mobs encouraged solo leveling, that should be solved for now. It's done when it's done. The biggest thing that's happened here is handicapping new and casual players. End of story. You can't really make an argument that changes that.

Well, that is were you would be wrong stryfer. When I have time I will be sure to link you the multiple posts from PLAYERS that caused alot of these changes. There were countless threads complaining about how pet dmg was way to low and this tied in directly with mob dmg. Another un-popular change was removal of barrels. Everyone forgets that it was the PLAYERS who complained that on a server that didnt allow for buffbots that barrells were to unfair and it was the PLAYERS who pointed out that they were not live like to this patch setting. Same with going from NF keeps to OF. Do you see a trend here Stryfer? We as the players ask for these changes, then we as the players complain when these changes have unexpected (or expected in some cases) results.
Also, as I pointed out above. Several casual players have made posts saying that they were upset that the majority of players preferred solo xp'ing as opposed to group. This change actually makes a change in the direction of encouraging group PvE more often. So in some senses it actually DOES help new and casual gamers get more in touch with the community. I'm just sayin... |

How were barrels unfair? They were available to all, so they were not unfair. They were also not very expensive and leveling alchemy to level you needed for lvl 40 stuff(except the special pots) is cheap. In all honesty, I don't care about barrels but you can't say they were not fair. If the staff's vision is to prevent players buffing while soloing etc. and they thought removing barrels will help with that, that's ok. However, it's not really fair to say that barrels were unfair xD. Thing is, staff can do a lot of things to promote group play, but there are people who simply like to solo and some who solo do it because they play odd hours or need frequent AFK's. Some changes are good, some are bad, some make no sense. In the end, who cares anyway. "He was concerned only with the naked fundamentals of life. Oh dear, a hero lvl 12 flammed why his armor is suddenly so crap he cannot even kill 2 yellows.
Then i started a valewalker (to check that out) and I have to say it was really really hard to lvl. My sister and her husband wanted to start with me a trio ( they did not play for 1 year). 2 vale and a bard. We pulled 2 ora and well if someone of our valewalker got aggro of the 2 ora mobs, then the bard was not even able to heal him so fast. 138 hp as firbolg lvl 8 valewalker and 1 ora mob deals 28 dmg xD 1 ora 5 hitted a vale firby ^^ Maybe there is not much difference in the higher lvl sector because of block parry better armor/absorb but in the low sector it´s really hard. My sister gave up btw :p Well, then I realized that I have a hunter. So i hoped that my pet makes at least then much more dmg too but dont see a difference. Only difference which I can see is the buffed dmg. Without 45-60dmg on a blue mob with buff its 85-88. |

At level 50 the differences weren't that much than what we see in low level. Damage is about 10% higher than before and even that depends on target. It makes a difference if you use your pet in RvR or PvE.
The real point is that buffs will be effective on pets attack damage and armor and that pets have a bit better protection against incoming damage without buffs. It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

I could care less about barrels. Would love to see pots gone altogether. As someone above mentioned, people enjoying solo play, and playing odd hours will have a hard time leveling up. I enjoy grouping and soloing. However, I'm a firefigher and play a lot of odd hours. Sometimes when I do play, it's only going to be for 30 or 45 mins. There's no use in wasting people's time joining there group, or wasting my time trying to build a group for that. Also, group builds will have to be more strategic now. Tanks take WAY more dmg, and healing classes will have to compensate wich will add to mana issues. So, time will tell what this "fix" does. I've rarely ever complained much about changes here. I still appreciate all of the work the Uthgard staff does. The majority of the community is great to play with, and I've met a lot of good people here. However, I think this will ultimately have an adverse affect on OVERALL game play. |
