I think maturity of this community is another big issue obviously. And i played daoc and the day when people fight for there keeps of there realms, and not just to form grps to earn rp's. On uthgard no one cares to fight for keeps, unless for DF or RPs.
Why is it such a threat to have a rule in place to limit your ablitiy to switch realms freely. Heck it could be tied to your rvr action. after a rvr kill, you cant switch realms till 1 hour or so. This way if you run into rvr and find no one, you can still switch to another realm to xp or what ever. And yes some will be able to get around it, but not everyone. Not everyone has a dynamic IP and its a inconvenice to change it everytime, so it will at least prevent some. Need to start out small. And what game do i play lol. No i dont play sims. Its boring and has no challenge to it. I play Daoc, portal 2, fallout3, CSS, and a few others, but mostly daoc. I even played wow for a little while, but got bored of the lack of rvr/pvp style of game play on it. I just want to play daoc and the way id like to. Obviously my posts are my opinon, and if you dont like them, then be mature about it. |

Yes, your post is your opinion. People want variety and freedom while playing. Accept it if it is not "mature" enough for you.

I don't believe a single word you wrote. In fact I think you're playing Sims right now. |
|
Ok you got me, yes im playing sims ..... o wait you dont believe a word i say ... so where does that leave us now.
Maybe back on topic |

I'd also like to see like a 1 hour timer for switching realms.

I would say Crossrealming is ok from my point of view.
If someone plays many years in same Realm on a Server, its start to be boring. You have many L50 Chars and nearly all what you want, Money, Items, Crafter... On live i have played not longer as a year on one Realm, and after done a break for DAoC, last one was about 5 Years long ![]() The one reason why i'm still here on Uthgard since 3.5 Years is that i can play in all 3 realms. So if i'm borring of one Realm and want something new, i start a Twink in another Realm.
Thats the Problem. It will noone Help, if some spy want to tell about a RelicRaid (as example) he can do it per IRC or something else. He dont need to change Realm. But if a fair player want to change Realm, because in one Realm is nothing happend, nothing to do, or just no grp, he must wait 1 hour without a reason? Explain me pls why it should be good ![]() Xai - L50 Caba | Elleri - L50 Pala | Ellesar - L50 Arms | Inquisitor - L50 Cleri

This sort of crap guy dont tell the information so easily, because he CANT participate with the the realm he just gave the information. Only thing is if he is PvE and wants to help his "real" friends.
E.g. Why there are rules about speedlimits, a good driver can drive the curve with 100 mph, a bad driver only with 70 mph. So u have to limit it to 70 mph because the bad driver(the spy and rvr-chaning-xrealmer) would damage himself or other people(rvr-system) This rule was not made only to handicap you (yes it does, but thats not the reason) It is to handicap the bad driver |

Everyone thinks Relic Raid is the only reason people want 1 hour limit. It has many reasons. The #1 for me being that I dont like it when a player I just killed (or just killed me) log's in on his hib account to tell me what they think about me and my playstyle. Sometimes its nice, like when they throw you out a compliment or tell you it was a fun and good fight, but other times it just to flame and troll. I know I could turn people in for this, but I dont because to be honest I dont want to waste time on it. This change is not just about the Relic Raids, there is a whole host of other things that switching realms causes issues on. People switching toons to whoever has DF, people switching toons to whichever realms has the most people in RvR or vice versa, people switching to do an event on a toon that is in a more powerful guild on anothe realms, and the list can go on and on. Basically, I feel people should be able to play whichever realm they want. The game is old enough to some people that after playing 1 realm for a long time they need a change, but I dont think there is one thing wrong with saying that if you are playing one realm and switch to another that you need to wait 1 hour. That is not asking much.

So does everyone just randomly post their thoughts and dreams here or does actually reading what other people wrote ever come up?
The "x hour" limit can be bypassed with a simple router reset (lasting ~40sec max) by a significant number of players with a dynamic IP. Furthermore, many people play from the same house, making them have the same IP (roommates, families) - yet they play different realms. All this would make for a highly arbitrary and flawed "rule", which on one hand can be bypassed by a significant part of the population, and on the other hand unnecessarily penalizes another part (who did nothing wrong). I play only Albion + I have a dynamic IP. I couldn't care less about whether this gets implemented or not, but for the life of me I really cant fathom how you people think. |

I'm aware Nymeros, but just because some people can get around a fix doesnt mean that you cant make a rule. Guns are illegal in the UK, but people still have them and purchase them. Yes, SOME (and very few) have the ability to do this, but 2 things that go with that. First, its going to be a pain for them to do that every time they switch. It doesnt take much, but its harder to do then now when you have to do nothing. Second, only a very small percentage even know's how to do this. Not to mention your defense that people can get around this can be used for any sort of ban on this game. So maybe we should get rid of bans since as you pointed out, somebody can just change ip's and keep on playing. See how your logic works? Just because there is a way around a law or rule doesnt mean that it shouldnt be put in place. I'm entitled to my oppinion as much as anyone on here, and my thoughts are a 1 hour timer is best for all. Apparently i'm not the only one thinking this either, and it sounds to me that the only ones opposed are the ones with this ability to circumvent it so whats the problem?

If the 1 hour or so rule was tied to rvr kills, then it wouldnt matter if you go out and find no rvr. Because you killed no one or got killed by anyone, you could still change realms. But if you find action and join in, your accepting the rule to wait an hour or so after every kill, to change realms. Or you can find your own work around to this, if your the type to abuse issues on the server.
If you cant handle an hour wait, then you have a problem with changing realms too often. |

@Eclipsed
An even more brilliant idea! You really eclipsed yourself this time. Penalize RvR even more, that's exactly what this server needs. I suppose there are a few crossrealmers who are against this because they enjoy their 007 Uthgard spymasters careers, but I think most of the people here simply can't handle stupid ideas.
Guns? Seriously? Wow. Why do you people insist on making ridiculous RL comparisons that have absolutely no meaning? In short: yes, a rule shouldn't be introduced unless it can be effectively enforced to reasonable degree. You know, police, courts of law? Gun permits? This rule can't be enforced AT ALL on a part of the population. Plus the roommate/family issue, which all of you (sorry, 2-3 of you) seem to be carefully avoiding. And no, it's not going to be a pain for anyone to dedicate 40 seconds to switch if the alternative is waiting for an hour. That's 3600 seconds, a significantly larger number than 40. And what small percentage? I just told everyone how to do this. Here, I'll do it again: RESET YOUR ROUTER. There's an actual dedicated button for that. If there isn't then just turn it off and then back on. Voila! And why get rid of bans? They'll keep playing on what exactly? Their ACCOUNTS are banned, and their characters along with them. The problem is that what the few of you are proposing is, to be polite, extremely flawed. I would ban crossrealming altogether if I could, but I won't push for an nonfunctional solution just for appearance's sake. |
|
Really I dont get it why they canceled the life time ban for oswaldo, forum and ig chat was so much better for those few days.
Blue said already that crossrealming will be forbidden in the future. No IP reset will safe you cause they gonna implement master accounts, at least they told us they gonna do it. |
