Like we said in some other topic some time ago, a 2 hours timer or more will do fine.

I hope staff will be neutral on this issue, and im waiting a statement please.

This x-realming is just unfair, something must be done.

It will never work, someone who's gonna be a jerk and cheat this way will just make another account on another laptop or something and do his X-realming.

@myfassben

Very good point here - I have the same problem

I and Rob do not always play in the same realm at one time, but connect via the connection...

@Drakons20

Many Laptops are just enough to level a twink...

Now think about Emain... For some Laptops its unplayable
(I know a lot of ppl that log from PvE on Lappi to normal PC for RvR)

The main problem I see with a realm change timer, if there even is a reasonable way to get it to work, is that while it will prevent relogging for short term advantages, like in case of relic defenses, it will effect long term logging decisions too.

That means players will be much more likely to log into the currently dominanting (for example 6 relics) realm right away, making existing population balance problems even worse, or even creating them in the first place.

My guess is, that this is kinda better than....

Organizing a relicraid, getting 2 FGs together to attack a keep.
And then, finding out that there are already 4 arpee-hungry FGs waiting inside for you.

Trust me, relic defense is not something you do out of RP hunger. :?

In fact, if you want to have RvR action, relic raids are the events that manage to destroy it for those who don't like to hit wood or stand on a keepwall for more than an hour.

@Zippitys Idea

Getting the Hardware ID to prevent X-Realming is a good idea,forcing ppl to stay in one realm for 24h or even 1 Week is not,binding a certain Hardware ID to a certain account isn´t a good idea aswell.

As i said, a X-Realm Timer of 2 Hours should be enough to prevent the worst possible abuses there are.
Also you should bind the Hardware ID to a certain realm for a certain period of time, and not to a set account. There are lots of people i know that share Accounts to be able to log needed classes,and this would make such a thing impossible.

Greetz and Merry X-Mas :P

This Big Brother bullshit is ridiculous. The day that I have to let some programm constantly run in background additionally to DAoC itself which I have no idea of what exactly it is doing is the day I'll begone from this server.

I was defending as a hib but I think I only saw 3-4 people who I know as regular alb players. Don't think it matters that much.

Anyway I think such a timer would be stupid for several reasons. Like say I was RvRing on mid and there's like 4 mid groups and hardly anything to fight I'd prefer being able to switch realms so I can atleast get some action. Or when there's nothing happening in RvR I'd like to exp some toon on another realm cause after playing hib since euro beta hib grew pretty tiresome. Having to play the same realm gets boresome for me personally.
I don't understand why this roleplaying aspect is forced on us. I mean if there's little action in Emain and your realm'mates' are fighting the only other opposition out there I think the majority wants them to loose so they'd have enemies to fight and not weep for the death of their kinsmen. I play this game/server for PvP, not for the glory of Hibernia.

Few nights ago when the hibs had both mid and alb relic. Mids tried to take one back. 3 mins later albs were on the other one. Now I don't play other realms, I just play hib, but its seems to me that there was some sort of spying going on.

If you take out all of the cross realmers that play hib and alb/mid I bet there is a very low hib pop, that just play that one realm compared to Mids or Albs.

What I have found odd is that I have killed a guildie who was playing another realm in DF. He was upset, I was surprised after asking around on how many players cross realm. I don't want to go around making sure that before I kill a player I need to check to see if he is a fellow realm mate. I want to play where if your a enemy of my realm, your going to die!. I dont care who the GM of your guild is bla bla or what alliance we have with so and so.

IMO timer should be set high. If it is I think there will be a clear picture on what the true population for each realm is. And im betting, Hib will be very low.

I thought this topic was about discussing the implementation of a mechanism to prevent or mitigate rampant and abusive cross realming.

If you want to tie how your personal experiences relate to the topic then feel free to do so at any time..
