virulent- wrote:well first of all ur comparing dark dawn's tank setup vs ur guild's...apples and oranges no offense.
My guild is currently running the no-cloth tank group, which I would recommend to nobody, ever. I was comparing DD's setup to a very slight variation that I think would be relatively effective in a pug situation. virulent- wrote:also to factor into the equation, they did it when the server was still new and there wasnt mid/hib casters with moc/purge etc. if dark dawn ran that pally setup in today's uth 2 they would definitely run into some trouble. u are quite delusional if u think an alb tank is anywhere remotely close to as powerful as alb caster. and if u beat monkas/rebirth/astro group with ur tank setup i will personally give u 1 platinum piece (aka it will never happen).
No point in arguing here, you have your experiences and I have mine. I never suggested I think an Alb tank group is superior to a hybrid, or caster. While we enjoy playing hybrid setups (and do, whenever one of our Minsts is away), we're trying to stick it out and see how far this comp can go. Hopefully we can catch <monkaS> when they aren't running 5 natty! virulent- wrote:looking at the incguild site, ur guild 8man is averaging 10k-20k per player in 3 days. plz stick to pve and don't talk about rvr strats ever again.
Reasonable numbers considering we only run for a few hours, three nights a week, during low-NA time, no? I would be more surprised if we hadn't been losing most of our fights, considering a month ago we were almost all on RR1 chars, hadn't really played together at all, and have been running a silly comp. Uthgard is the least appropriate DAoC server for egos. Considering the group quality across the server, I'm surprised anyone is playing for bragging rights. We're all here because we have fun playing DAoC, and the devs have done an excellent job creating and maintaining this server.

good luck trying to find a thrust minstrel, let alone 2...most minstrels go slash so they can be versatile in solo/smallman/stealth as well as 8man. but yea paper daoc wise thrust minstrel is the way to go for 8man. honestly doesnt matter what spec the 2 minstrels in group are once they have sos/ip/purge (especially adding ap2 to the mix) cus then they can alternate incs as one can go super aggro with purge/ip on stun debuff on their back line while the other plays more passive to sos group within range incase it's needed and vice versa.

reasonable numbers considering u only run a few hours? lame excuse, cus i see the death spam when u guys are out 8manning and u lose 99% of ur fights. if u won more or at least half ur fights, u would be getting way more rps. also, half ur squad's characters as u mentioned have been created on the server since uth 2 released, so if u guys are all still rank 1 for over a year then u have more problems than u know. this is a hardcore classic freeshard with no QoL, anyone who plays uth 2 (especially 8v8 as it's considered competitive daoc) does it for bragging rights...don't kid urself.

definetly agree.....thrust is more for perfectionist like me and paper daoc addicts ...but definetly also possible with slash minstrel...

You insta stunned tanks in groups and never got invited again. Stay in your lane soloing XPers and adding on fights.
Someone's upset they got added on

@Aelrad
You guys should regularly try friar in setup. Heat/cold resist vs caster groups is strong and also the added power bar for healing really does help a bit vs other tank groups who have 3-5 seers. Any decent tank group will simply out last you on healing power.
Seers: Cleric, Cleric, Friar Cheese: Minst, Minst Tanks: Merc, Merc, Reaver (or other melee)
That's what i've always wanted to try out, but no one plays tanks on Alb. And hardly anyone plays Alb NA time.

I see your point of view, Drastic. We'll just each keep having fun here in our own ways. Ardri wrote:You guys should regularly try friar in setup. Completely agree, Friar is my favourite way to run it as well. We had one for our first few nights, but RL took over and we ended up repping them with another tank. We'll be running a Friar here and there going forwards, but hopefully we can get one in regularly after not too long. Atm our set group is your suggestion, but with an Arms instead of Friar. Most important thing is to have guys play what they want, so I'm not too worried about running the most competitive version of this ridiculous comp, even if Friars are tons of fun! We've been finding it's not too difficult to overwhelm Mid tankers, but Hib tankers with Wardens are just brutal!

Yea, the hib 5 naturalist 3 tank setup is the most braindead retard push comp in the game. And they're all rr9 playing the same chars for 1+ year. It's sad really. The key is to sos mid fight and all assist to burst down a druid.

friar + 1 cleric is really nice but no one plays friar. just the resists alone is good enough...then to top it off with anytime dehaste and reliable long lasting side snares. great asset!

two tanks in alb is needed, pref arms/merc, therg, cab, sorc, minst. these two minst groups are for memes only.
full caster alb is way more powerful than hybrid, especially in today's rvr where everyone is higher rank with moc etc. even 1 minstrel 5 caster 2 cleric (assuming the players have chemistry and the casters don't get caught on inc like idiots) is way better than buds 1.0 hybrid setup. only reason why buds hybrid used to win fights is cus the mids n hibs back then were lower rank and pbuk/keeibsy carried the team while u guys collected free rps. also, u weren't even in the starting lineup...u were 2nd or 3rd string. don't get it twisted, nerdcake.
That was buds 2.0, actually and for the record keeibsy only played for about a month. My boy ntc joined later on and was first string when he did. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
