Anything is better then none. Freely cross realming to play all realms on one server is a shard feature, but was not back on classic (1.69) live. Unless you play multi servers, but if you want to, wait a little while and change realm.

The ppl that have lvl50 chars on more realm then 1 will not just let a stupid timer stop them when they want to switch charachter so u are wrong. Its so easy to temper with a normal IP check.

Besides having multiple accounts with charachters on different realms never was and never will be forbidden on live so why should it be forbidden here. On the other hand if u are using the accounts to xrealm (spreading info about RR´s etc) it should be punished.

I like daoc for the different realms and i want to be able to play all classes, ppl who have "the spirit of the realm" as a argument against this is just fancy roleplayers that live in their own closed up bubble. I play the game for fun not to win some imagenary war that cannot be won.

If you crossrealm 'cause of relics you will find a way anyway. Maybe two more clicks or programs to start and that's it.
But the casuals that don't now anything about it and just wanna xp on alb if they can't find a grp in hib will be the ones who will be affected by the timer.

I could crossrealm and would probably find a path around any simple mechanism like ip check. But e.g. my "gimp :)" father would just sit infront of his screen and wonder what's going on and be effected by this timer :)

I fully agree.

There already is a rule against cross realm espionage and breaking it should be verifiable from logs. A mechanism that would do very little to help with that issue while hindering completely normal play has no reason to be implemented.

Wow, this has been a huge topic in the alliance and guild chat lately. I am more on the side of being against x-realmers, but after reading these posts I see the problems with trying to enforce rules around switching realms. For all of you saying this is conspiracy theories you are nuts. I play Hib and only Hib, and we get tipped, over broad chat, ALL the time on inc relic raids. As well, some of my guildmates play on Alb and have been on when planning a relic raid and the same happens. It's not always on broad, but words gets tipped to all sides ALOT. To be honest I remember it happening a tad on live too, but was more from Teamspeak/Ventrilo then from in game x-realming.

On a side note, another form of x-realming that I hate is people who play all 3 realms that use their other accounts to verbally attack a player after battle. I've had that happen to me many times and I just think its funny. Many players log in to tell me how it was unfair that me and my shade buddy killed them solo, and how were noob's, or whatever stupid other gibberish people post. I never had that on live, you know why? Because people played 1 realm on that server. Why would you ever buy 2 accounts to play 2 realms on one server? You would pay for 1 account and play 2 seperate realms on 2 seperate servers. Hence, less x-realming and x-realming verbal sparring.

I dont know if there is a way to stop the negatives of x-realming (which DO happen) with still allowing to be fair to the many players who use it to experience more of the game. Tough call there, and I would feel bad for all players w/ 50's and chars on all 3 realms, but you all have to admit that it does indeed have its bad parts.

Smth like that is forbidden and will get punished if you report it to a GM.

Yup and most of that information leaks through irc or similar channels, nobody is stupid enough to relog ingame chars from one realm to another to snitch. But yes it is a conspiracy theory that every failed relic raid is the x-realmers' fault.

Coin bonus wont help in group RvR, but could help in solo RvR. Most mids that play grp dont really need money while they are RvRing, they have free buffs afterall, and 5 extra gold per kill doesnt matter that much. This change wont make most mids to RvR more imo. If you want to stop x-realming, you must enforce it, like in a 4+ hours x-realm timer, i said it long time ago.

And enemies should try to stop x-realming for relic raids (hibs and albs), noone likes to play chess if the enemy has 3x more pieces. Sooner or later you will play a 2 realm game. (maybe staff should implement a mechanism to stop x-realming at least when there is a relic under attack / on the map)

X-realm was always a problem, but its not the main problem. Remember 1+ years ago 1000+ players and people not being able to log because server was full? Not x-realming dropped that number, but changes that occured like OF and port timer (while people that asked for OF are not playing anymore). OF layout imbalance brought a lot of albs. Fact. You cannot ask for equal numbers while you play on a map that is in advantage of Albion.

Uthgard was awesome. Not anymore. Just my oppinion.

Patch 1.74
http://www.camelotherald.com/news/news_ ... oryid=1918
- There is a timer in place to prevent cross-realming characters. After logging a character into one realm on the cluster, you will have to wait eight hours (real world time) before being allowed to log into another realm on that same cluster.

Yes you can cross realm on clusters, every 8 hours. I guess my suggestion of 3 hours, needs to be 8 then right LOL.

There will be some xrealm timer like they already existed on live. The amount of xrealming on uthgard for what reaons ever is not live like. The realm affinity is clearly hurt compared to classic daoc. As we have only this one server it will be a timer solution.

Its also an issue for me that some of you have 15+ accounts. You may expect a limitation in some way or the other in future.

Good example of why roleplaying opinions are biased and bad. He actually thinks only hibs and albs crossrealm and that his realm is pure.

For a single account. You can log multiple accounts without any timer.

Can't wait to see the server population drop by half because people are waiting on timers.

Then happy waiting for you. You seem to really need to swap realms every minute.

I would rather see the server population drop, and produce fair raid, with a natural amount of players, then to find 4 fg of players already defending a relic by the time I get there, because of my own realm mates nark about our current INC location to the relic.

Yes people could buy multi accounts on live to achive cross realming. But we know mythic does not support it. Because the added an easier way with clustering. But that came with a timer rule of 8 hours. So ovious mythic did not want the possiblity to make cross realming easier and change how realms intreact.

I personaly would like some more single realm players. If the server had more of that, we would see real realm pride. Then things could get intresting. Sieging and defending would actualy be something to do, not just to keep or take a relic for bonuses, but to show your enemy realm, we will not be defeated.

If your not going to enjoy the world of daoc, why play. Get into it. Its not all about playing the strongest type of each class, and to get as many kills/rps. Its about enjoying the experience.

Easy thing first:

People have a lot of accounts because while having multiple chars on the same account has no advantages at all, having an own account for each char lets you lend chars (i.e. crafters) to other people while still being able to play another char. Which does not have any negative impact what so ever. (besides size of the db ...) Limiting this is just insane. (which you can not do anyway, because any way you can identify people [IP, comp, client ID, daoc portal ID] can be circumvented)

Which brings us to:

Why the hell would you want to implement a realm relog timer? All while being fully aware that it will not stand any determined effort to circumvent it AND that it is completely useless against giving information through other means of communication. Realm pride is in no way an essential part of DAoC anymore since like 05, when everyone tried out another realm as classic servers started. You will not make people that do completely ok things - like leveling in another realm while waiting for their guildmates to log on - suddenly be "for teh realm" by punishing them. They'll just be ****** off, reset their router and log the char they want to play. Which - i might repeat myself - IS NOT A BAD THING.

On the topics of relic raids:

Every single relic raid i've seen on Uthgard has been executed horribly. If you do a prime time raid, stand around TK for half an hour - so the lag your zerg produces when approaching said TK warns everyone with half a clue- , uselessly wander around the frontier in a giant blob for an hour and raid some keeps in the most unproductive way ever (zerging them one at a time) every semi decent player knows there's a relic raid coming up. So why the ****** are you surprised when the relic gets defended? It's not crossrealming but YOUR OWN INCOMPETENCE.

Uthgard is not live, there is not enough action around in endgame rvr, and being able to switch realms actually helps the situation. The biggest reason (if not the only reason) for limiting people to one realm with a timer are relic raids, a feature which was introduced to uthgard for wrong reasons and was flawed from the start, not to mention custom and not livelike.

How will you limit accounts? There is no possible way you can do that, especially since some accounts/characters' real "owners" quit the server and let a bunch of friends have access to them. Are you going to delete those characters? I myself don't have many accounts on Uthgard that are "my own". I have 3, maybe 4, not sure but I have access to at least 20 (in truth I think it's closer to 30) other accounts. Most of those accounts "owners" quit the server, but you never know if they might come back some day. It's too late to limit the number of accounts, that should have been done a long time ago.

About the realm affinity/pride or whatever you want to call it, you would like it to be like it was 8 years ago but you forget that Uthgard community is not the same as the community on live was back then. Uthgard community is, unfortunately, not even close to what it was on live servers.

I don't like being limited to one realm, and neither do a lot of other people. I like playing different classes across all three realms. Is that so wrong? Why do you want to limit my options in a GAME if I'm not doing anything wrong? I'm not griefing anyone, I'm not logging in another realm to tell off that guy that just killed me, I don't organize nor do I have any interest to participate in relic raids (or any raids in general). So tell me why must I be limited because some people think that every relic raid that they make gets ruined by xrealmers (even though it's most likely not because of xrealmers most of the time, and when it is it's not always done ingame). You can't prevent xrealming unless you find a way to prevent players from having irc, msn, steam, icq, facebook, 2nd computer, 2nd internet connection, a cell phone or being an IRL neighbor with a guy that is playing on the opposite realm. So putting a timer will limit a lot of people from playing the game and somewhat enjoying it (I'm talking about any 5+ min timer), while not significantly helping the xrealming situation.

What we have here is that, many people have been spoiled by other shards and the freedom to cross realm easily. It did not come from live, as we know you could not without paying cash for it.

If you want to cross realm, ask mythic why they didn't allow it on the same server.
