But, on the other side, i think this video show how "incredible" is Uthgard Server.

the only server where u can see a skald running 1h/shield (lol, never see this on 10 years of daoc) and kill some ppl (lol)
the only server where a skald can kill a merc ^_^
the only server where a skald can hit a for 5++ and critical (but this is a bug i think_^^_)
the only server where a skald can kill an armsman and hit harder (LOOOOOOOL). U fighting with shield and hit fro 110 to 150 (on plate) with 1h while Alren giving u back for 220 on chain with polearm (crazy, crazy like hell) and with for about your damage with 1h (maybe less).
this is crazy ^_^
the only server where a skald hit a lot against s/s (hero/armsman), high evade chars (infs/ns's)

anyway this is Uthgard ^_^, nothing to spare with official on melee system, but still fun for some chars (skalds, rangers, mercs etc)

I played a Skald on live. I used 1 Hand a lot. I hittet Palas and Arms hard thx to plate. I even killed them. I smashed most of the stealthers. And i won vs Mercs. It was not easy but it was doable.

i don't want start the usual flame like for rangers, this is a fun video, good edited e very cool to see.
what i have write is only my point of view, nothing more.
skald was my first char on daoc back on 2001/2002 and i played it till toa, passing all patch and seeing all changes.
at start skald was like a "warrior with 2h", hit very hard, was damn good 1vs1. After some patch (don't remember what one) there was the adjust on all damage table and things changed (i remember skalds and thanes because i was mid side).
Don't remember the patch, maybe something like 1.4x.
this video, on my opinion, prove the fact that melee system here is hardly broken, ws is broken (skald have very gimp ws, should get evaded/parried like hell), damage is too high and, basically, all the system is not working.
I can't forget how the most gimp armsman or hero, on live, basically trishot a skald after a slam (low hp's table), while the skald never hit and, if hit, make gimp damage (low ws). Usually, against all chars different from mages, skald was hitting only with dd's ^_^

about the shield:

repeat, never see a skald running around with a shield.
never played it, never see on any video.
basically, run with a shield mean gimp the character.
no shield train
low ws table mean 1h very ridicolous hit (see -> Paladins)
only advantage is having another item to put sc in, but, on real rvr, is totally useless

but this is not daoc ^_^ here skalds hit hard, have same chance to get evaded/blocked like a warrior and can overdamage a 6lx armsman shield/polearm spec (loooooL) ^_^
so, yeah, maybe, run 1h for have 1 more item to put sc in can be a good choice ^_^

Am I dyslexic? I am having a hard time reading what this guy has written here. Am I the only one? I can only make it a couple lines and my eyes start to haze up and I lose track.

Man that's so strange. I can't read past the 4th line for some reason. Every time I finish the 4th line my eyes avert to like the 7th line. He used some kind of trick writing I think.

1vs1, only wardens can play a red blade turn (ok theurgist too, but he fighted only 1 earth spec).

i see skald against ns's, armsmans, hero's, champions, mercs etc.

haven't see any warden

try to make a fast search on youtube and see if u find a skald video with shield, i'd like to see it (official video, not free shards)

In 8vs8 for example you see it sometimes and also in 1vs1.
