Keep warfare over the last few weeks.

One of the last guard messages told us 70 enemies attacking the keep (well thats what rare said to us in battlegroup)
Its nice to see so many ppl out in the frontiers but in my opinion it was totally boring to defend the keep... Not beeing able to do any casts because someone gets aoe'ed all the time is no fun at all for me. I guess thats the same reason why some ppl left at 9:30 PM after the first attack. I still have some hope to see many of this ppl more often in emain (with less then 70ppl of course ![]() IRC: 09.01.2013(15:16:36) Dotto: we zerg if other realm zerg in rvr,, we never start zerg thats all! |

you were one of the noobs who came out and die? grats arthion, best wizard in the history of dark age of camelot! ![]() |

Well the actual fights were great fun imo: defending when enemy pushes in, trying to keep ur bg from pushing till the right moment etc: and especially for me the fight where we had them in Lords Tower, 2nd attack on Rens, BoF'ing and DI'ing and healing my socks off: That was the most fun I had since the day I ran with a RARE/RotLA'ish pug!!!
well Kole - a LOT of these people are RR3 to 5 so in primtetime they wouldnt stand much of a chance in 8 v 8. Which is why I drag around in keeptakes w guild/as often: to get them accustomed to playing together, get better RR etc etc. This is jut MY opinion and nothing official/MYTH wise: Personally I find it difficult in primetime w a low RR group. and if pople ALWAY wipe, soon they will give up and hate RvR. So thats why we try and find other ways to train each other and get RR. Boring or not - well iirc RotLA were mostly running out of Emain till RR6+ if not RR7? /Dru |

The def was ok, but IMO it just shows again how bad are the OF keeps compared to NF ones. You can't even cast anything on enemies outside the wall, only through those little slits. And you when you are inside there are only windows where you get permarupted.

i and i think all of our group 7/8 were gildis, had a good fun at both defences. If you coordinate your attacks you CAN hit stuff ourside and kill. Ofc this was never and will never be everyones cup of tea but it is a great alternative for less active and less competetive players, or simply players that enjoy this type of gameplay while still being active and competetive. Our highest count on the first attack was 70 on a guardkill but i guess we had like 50 aswell, specially on the second attack the whole yard was full of albs, and as defender ur always in a better position specially on the last push. As i said, we all had good fun and will make sure Rarenaris will attract our enemys for long time!

So true. And in a Albion keep, it's nearly impossible to get à LOS to DD outside. At window, i need to jump to start the cast, and jump again near the end ![]() NF keep are really great for that, Mythic did a great job, they fixed all this issues. RIP : Ectoplasme

it would be nice if at a certain level it would spawn merchants and forge, lothe, alchemy table, etc at the keep

Everyday we are prooved that old NF keeps design was mistake and was bad. Give us new ones
![]() ![]() Yesterday def was fun,I was surprised we defended Renaris succesfully vs Mid hordes. Thanks to leaders for organisation and all defenders for GJ. 3k rpts for it is not big deal, but better than sit in Camelot castle and skill up craft ![]() |

I reported that fg and was before the outer gate went down. When they are on the second gate another 5-6 man inc too. At least that was all I could see. They were around 70 on lord. |

don't get me wrong: I support this keep zerging stuff, because its good for uthgard to have more ppl doing different kind of rvr ![]()
yeah it IS really difficult to do 8vs8 with a unskilled low RR group. Especially if you have to run against Requiem, Rare, Rotla, Drachengarde or other "high RR" guilds. The best way to get better for them would be to do some fights against even enemies (low RR grp vs low RR grp .. or 2fg against 2fg, stuff like that).
Yeah, we ran in Odins for some time when there was equal action after we changed setup ![]() IRC: 09.01.2013(15:16:36) Dotto: we zerg if other realm zerg in rvr,, we never start zerg thats all! |

Yepp I agree =). welll..tbh ofc its more skill than RR - which was proven to me when we ran into HotLA the other day: daym I could hardly play, was totally watching how well u guys knew ur timers etc. That was a very inspirational lesson, I was truly impressed: however when u have to get the skills in, assisting, kiting/calling targets, pushing w/o overexpending etc etc: AND u are moderate RR, its a must to find others in the same situation.
Luckily we are starting to have a good 14-15 players running together almost every night, so I expect it will soon get better. Lasttiem we were working on a *coregroup* it took us like 3-4 months till it started working really well! So, we just have to be patient! /Dru |

It is a rough time in the beginning and most of the people give up before they have a chance of getting better because some "elitists" ragequit or behave like children (a.e. kick ppl because they failed the last fight) But if you got a small pool of ppl who know the basics like kite/push/assist/call for damage! it gets better every evening IRC: 09.01.2013(15:16:36) Dotto: we zerg if other realm zerg in rvr,, we never start zerg thats all! |

I can understand that these keep fights get boring for a 8man grp but they dont have to be at all. There is so much more we can be doing, many more tactics we can do that are fun but require a little practice and a large scale coordination in the BG. It also requires a little different mindset than 8v8, in 8v8 its really bad to die but in a keep fight with the proper use of binding to the lord and /recall you can have a lot of fun if you don't worry so much about dying. You have to be willing to take the risk and see what happens. I am trying to practice some of these things now and if you where in the BG you may have noticed me spamming for all melee and ice wizzys to go to a certain door and counting down a push out to kill and pop back in. We didn't do as good as we could have but its a start to getting people use to it. but for example when your grp sees me coordinating a pop out to try and kill the people on the ram if you guys popped out a different door both of us would kill more and if the casters inside got near a window and got ready to mezz and interrupt when we did it things would be even better. if we die we just /recall and try again. people laugh at these kinds of fights and claim its just a bunch of skilless zergers button mashing but in truth its a lot more than that and with practice a smaller force can defeat a larger force and make a lot of RP's. It takes practice , coordination and the right classes and RA's. a lot like 8v8 does just on a larger scale. one of the things that is hurting Albion right now is that the classes and RA's we need to be to be successful in keep warfare are not ideally suited to 8v8 so we are very short of them, like wizzards and Thorn weed fields for example. But things will slowly improve. In reply to your statement about seeing more people out in emain, it is already happening just not during prime-time euro, in fact yesterday a alliance mate was telling me how much fun their guild group had in emain 8v8 they made about 20k rp's in a couple hours fighting lots of low realm rank mid and hib groups. This good to see and while it will be a while before they feel they are ready to fight in prime time they have already started enjoying 8v8 in the off hours. /cheers |
