my question involves group composition.

i play 90% of my time during the dreaded american prime time, 8pm-midnightish eastern. so my questions are mostly geared towards hib pugs... but for the purpose of the thread by all means answer as broadly as needed.

1. what classes/jobs would you say are the hardest/easiest to pug?
2. what classes/jobs would you have your best/worst players?

Feel free to ask more questions, I'm going to answer all of them tonight (European time)
Some of my statements might be too in depth for some people while some are too sketchy, so just reask if your questions were not answered the way you wanted them to be. You can also ask basic questions if you're either rusty or new to the game. There are no stupid questions

Hey melody. I do not have specific questions, but as a relatively new person to the game - id love if you could make Hibernian RvR class job role descriptions. When i started playing DaoC in Uthgard about 8 months ago i had no idea whats going on, but i learned my way through practice. But as a very competetive person, i always thought that im doing something wrong, since my group wasnt always winning the fights. Maybe some other players would like that aswell. Also if you do have time, you could also expand this "job description" to Albion and Midgard aswell.

For example: BM has these jobs in a RvR group... and a Eldritch has these... Id love to see every specific group characters role description here.

Hope you have time - i know its really basic for most of Uthgard players but dont forget, that when Uthgard 2.0 comes out, there might be some totally new players to DaoC too.

Cheers! :)

BM has two roles. If he is in a melee group, he just slams and hits ******. If he is in a caster group, it depends. If you're up against a caster group, he slams and hits ****** again. If you get engaged by a melee group, you most often have to peel for the casters so they can kite and then nuke undisturbed.

Eldritch kites and nukes. Unless you're a Mana Eld, then you also have to nearsight enemy casters, and disease just about everything, although tanks are priority since disease slows the target, and decreases their strength, by a small amount. Throwing a disease on an enemy that is getting attacked (and healed), is very good, since it reduces healing efficiency by 50%.

Using PBAE in RvR is frowned upon. Lately its usually just used as a "hail mary" when getting zerged, or as a way to taunt the remaining opponents after a fight, to inform them that they have just been shat on.

I wouldn't recommend playing a Mana Eld if you're new to Hibernia and/or caster kite groups. You have a lot of responsibilities, whereas a BM has mostly just one, maybe two.

Why would hibs need a second demezzer with 2x group purge ?
and about the rr5 theurgist ra, it never really worked correctly on uthgard so it was never "one of the best rr5 in game" unless you are talking about live servers.

1. Hardest/Easiest to pug

Pug Friendly : BM,Hero,Druid,Bard,Eld
semi useful for pugs : Enchanter,Mentalist,Warden(Even though warden's missing the NF ras that made it great, the character still offers powerful Heals,Bladeturn and the non elemental resists which are good against all kind of grps)
Unpopular for pugs : Champion,Valewalker,Animist (Hybrids without Det are sadly pretty awful for grp rvr)

2. best/worst players
Let's say there are some characters that I wouldn't recommend for beginners.
These are Bard,Eld and Enchanter
Druids will be alot easier to play without Shears, Heals/Roots & Pet control are the only things you have to manage, and spreadheal is power efficient at that patch level so even lesser decision making involved with healing than before.
Deftanks and Lighttanks are generally easy to learn, but hard to master - a really good player can shine out on these chars.

It all falls & stands with voice communication tho, that's why Ench/Menta for example are just semi useful for pugs because the debuffer has to announce debuffs for the eld/menta to assist, simply because the time window to nuke on debuffs is so small.

1. Second Demezzer

You want a second Demezzer because a mezz can be cured, Nearsight&Roots can't be. As soon as it's not a static fight where one grp is Kiting backwards you absolutely want to have a grp purge for those who get either stuck in the back when pushing or for those who can't catch up with their own grp when kiting because of being rooted.
Same goes for Nearsight, Purge is on a 30minute timer, you will most likely have to purge the first nearsight as a caster unless there is no risk of pushing in but still, people will just outrun you when you start casting close to them.
This is for hibs only, Albs don't need a second Demezzer with the mezz dampening and quickcast, and mids will run 2+ healers anyway. I don't think that it is a must have as a hib either, but it will help alot.

In a nutshell : you want the grp purge for roots&nearsights, not wasting it for mezzes. It's not like a second bard or a mentalist doesn't offer alot other things to the grp.

2.
I think the theurg rr5 has been working correctly in the last few months before Uthgard closed.
