lol, just check the dots for cliff beetle in abydos map... if every dot was a real cliff beetle there would have been around 20 just in front of mtk, and there was exactly one.
I am very sure about this, as we wiped a small zerg against this nasty little fuc*** in one of our first times in emain with all beeing lvl 10-20 :D

a little off topic but: +1 for implementing cliff beetles, i have many emphatic memories about them

And please no flame here, GMs try theyr best to bring us back the daoc we all loved and don't do wrong things on purpose!!

i played pre TOA a lot of rvr. but i cant remember that kind of mobs there. maybe 1 or 2 were possible - but even that i cant remember. but other spots I do. thats weird :D

just imagine u have 8v8. 1 grp is in all these monsters - ae mezz. fight will be longer than 2 min. hence u have a lot of fun with these annoying little creatures :D

if it is neccessary I will check my daoc archives for video footage. just say it ;)

Ahah, almost everyone begins his/her post by "It's not a flame but..."

@Abydos: By the way, I'm sorry if I offended you in the other thread, it was maybe a rough way to say that I was really surprised to see so many mobs on an area where I never saw them. And your answer was right, maybe GoA modified something.

Another point that can corroborate this hypothesis is that on HW and OG, there are many mobs everywhere. So maybe on live it was the same on Emain, and they removed them because many people played there.

But as you may have understand, I'm for the removal of those mobs too ^^ They are targets of my ae mezzes and really annoying ^^

at 5:44 you can see the solo cliff beetle in front of mtk :)

he had a large spawn area though, could also be to the right instead of left from the mtk.

nice vid btw... from editing and music and stuff at least, not the killing of RR1-3 enemy groups

I found some old emain screenshots showing some of the area between mtk <-> mmg and there are only two mobs visible:

woops, yeah there was one too

I again checked the radar map posted by abydos, there are also the numbers of the mobs in the zone given... 22 could be realistic for cliff beetle (if there are about 15 off the road somehwere), while there are more than 100 dots on the map. 22 single bugs spread across whole emain sounds correct.

As a conlusion i would say: sry to GMs for the offensive language (not from me of course, i am always polite  ), but from player perspective, who played in the old days, its just walk out of TK in emain and "zomg rofl, what are all these mobs i have never seen doing here and why in these large numbers?" First question always is: "what kind of event?", it just feels so wrong :D

No thats still wrong.
The 22 beetles recorded are from new emain, 130 in old emain!
The whole data was just interpreted wrongly

E.g. Rage wolfs
http://capnbry.net/daoc/mobs.php?z=214&m=1367

Websites says 36 wolfs, which are just as many as the dots. But all those clouds represent 1 mob not like 10.

If you count clouds as 1 mob, there are 5-6 rage wolfs in emain, which is much more correct than 36 rage wolfs and 10 of them at one spot.

Best way to get players working on live information: Upset them :D

Nice strategy! ;)

oook, i hope someone is just working on it and that is not the final emain.
This can't be serious, this is a complete zoo in emain now that does not belong there... horses, hounds lynx, badgers everywhere, and everything wrong. Maybe in new frontiers emain, but never ever where any of these in old emain xD

And as much as i love the cliff beetltes, please remove the aggro green one from the roads at least, this is so not livelike and annoying :?

the one on the road in front of mmg when you come from mtk may be livelike, i remember you had to run a small circle there... but i can't remember having to run slalom all the way from mtk to amg
