Anti x-realming mechanism

Well here is a question. If you where on classic live with one account and wanted to change from hib to alb to exp. could you? And dont tell me no one runs in OF and after awhile of dieing, dont all log out and into that enemy realm. Suddently there is more hibs out now. Or "hey lets do a relic raid" 5sec later ( log out log out log out ) now there is tons of enemys suddently and fewer realm mates. How are you suppose to do RvR when your fighting people, who are also in your realm. How can you siege a relic, if a few in your group or realm belong to that enemy realm who has the relic and dont want to lose it. Realm Pride is why classic live did not allow cross realming. With it, realm pride would die. |

You needed 2 accounts, just like you need on uthgard. I fail to see the point you're trying to make ?
You wanna punish the entire server only because of maybe 10 people who will switch realms for a relic raid ? That's not good reasoning at all.
Realm pride = roleplaying = very narrow minded and very biased point of view = shouldn't even be considered when implementing server-wide changes. |

On live, to have another account. You had to pay for it, which would reduce the number of people cross realming. And if they had a buffbot, that would mean they would need three accounts to have an alt in another realm, with no buffbot. Uthgard doesnt charge you to make more accounts, so its not the same. If mythic intended you too back then, they would of allowed you to make all realms on one account on one server, but they did not.
This is a realm vs realm server, not player vs player arcade type of setup. |

On live you can play all realms with one account due to server clustering. On live in "classic" times you could play more than one realm by owning more than one account. On live in "classic" times you could also play more than one realm with just one account by playing on another server, since there is no counterpart to uthgard among freeshards, limiting people to one realm would not be "livelike". If you want to roleplay playing for your realm on one account because you can't afford more than one accounT be my guest, also don't forget to donate 15$ every month for roleplaying purposes.

That is why i said, a timer that makes you wait a few hours before you can change realm. Log out, go outside for a few hours, then change to your other toon. Or pick a realm and stick too it.

And punish the whole server because of a bad suggestion posted by a paranoid role player. The few people who switch realms to defend/attack relics don't make a difference whatsoever, your conspiracy theories are just that... theories.

Watch your language and flames Lemonjelly, you are in focus. Your opinion is your opinion and doesn't match others. Eclipsed is not the only one who demands X-Realm timer. On live you had to pay for accounts and you most propably had your second account in the same realm for buffbot reasons. It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.
Every bug gets fixed. Sooner or later. "It is an inescapable law of nature that the amount of satisfaction one gains from achieving something is related to how hard it is and easy things can only elicit a fleeting superficial sort of pleasure." Blue says, "you used macro tools or macro keyboard" Pala says, "i am disabled. and i have a mechanic left hand that can be programed. its hard to play woith one hand" [Appeal] Bxxxxxxxx: "why is RA first aid cann man i stealth use and not unstealth cann man ra if man use unstealth ?????????" BannedUser: "i was not using automate game action my hand was fall on keyboard during i was sleep .... i was completly fall on keyboard ..." |

It's not flaming whatsoever. The subject of x-realm is conspiracy theories for the most part, people need someone who they can put the blame on for when they have a failed relic raid. Instead of admitting they just got outnumbered or it was bad organization or both or whatever it's always the same excuse, crossrealming. Do you reeeeeeeeaaaaaaalllllllyyyyyy think that SO many people switch realms JUST to defend or attack relics to make a difference ? Even if so, crossrealming works both ways and even if it was present in such severity the crossrealmers from all realms should even each others out, no ?

This is the best suggestion yet hands down. Cross realming is getting out of hand. You cant do a relic raid with out a few FG's waiting for you to defend the Relic keep. There is no surprise anymore. Every relic raid I am in everyone has to do a /anon so that know one can know what zone we are in, and this is to protect our location from our OWN realm mates! Who are tipping off the other side! The end game has come down to who has the best intel in cross realming. It sucks that the other realm knows we are coming and working on relic not from a system wide message, but from a cross-realmer. |

Well Blue there is a lot of people demanding X-Realmtimers - thats true - but it's cause of conspiration theorys (I call them like this, cause I don't see the proof for this - I mean hibs getting 10-20 people more is not really much if u compare it to the hibernia players online and people ofc ask in broad for people joining - so its quite normal levelers/bg-players might login emainchars also)
So I ask myself: It's only in their head? Or is it really a problem? I know it could be quite a lot work, but can GM's pls keep eye open for relicraids and check how many ppl log from one realm to the other? And from what kind of characters? (could still be ppl twinking and getting asked on guildIRC if they join relicraids with their mainchars btw.) Btw. last Alb relicraids I logged on Midgard (my bf was on Albion with the raid) and I checked if ppl announce a the planned Albraid somewhere in broad. (Ok a problem here is that I can't read all ally/guild-chats) I am not fully against a timer, but it should not punish everyone that just like to play more than one realm. A point for me against IP crossrealmtimer is that me and my bf might play on different realms at the same time (even if we not that active atm) => Maybe there could be extra rules for cases like this? Idk I hope we can work this out. |

IP checks are easy to get around so implement a working realm switching timer is impossible.
Just close this thread as its useless to discuss. |
|
This. IP is ofc not the only thing one could check, but you could get around anything. A realm change timer would just hurt normal play (do some thid on my sb, thid is dead, go level my wizard ... or whatever). Anyone wanting to get around it could still do so easily. |
|
Well we know it could be worked around. But at least part of the community will not do so and fallow the rules. Some of the Cross Realming would be cut down a bit. Anything is better then none. Freely cross realming to play all realms on one server is a shard feature, but was not back on classic (1.69) live. Unless you play multi servers, but if you want to, wait a little while and change realm.

Problem with this timers is imo it hits the wrong people.
If you crossrealm 'cause of relics you will find a way anyway. Maybe two more clicks or programs to start and that's it. But the casuals that don't now anything about it and just wanna xp on alb if they can't find a grp in hib will be the ones who will be affected by the timer. I could crossrealm and would probably find a path around any simple mechanism like ip check. But e.g. my "gimp ![]() ![]() So the crossrealmers that want to do it 'cause it's "easier" in the relic realm would still do it. ![]() <<< This avatar is handmade by Inotor Wurzelbert : ) Check out the Mampfer-Threads for more. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=25079 viewtopic.php?f=10&t=26934 |
