What happened here? So Yahaa and Pbuck said they were tired of the Hib zerg in emain so they decided to go to Odins Gate? How did that get them banned exactly? If they did it on IRC or on Forums I guess it could be conceived as "planning" RvR.

On a side note, I had a message from a guildie who quit last night saying he was tired of Hib's zerging his mid char and i've also noticed alot of messages on the thread forums about the same thing. I have only played Hib, but I have been in Emain long enough to know that the "zerg" problem is not just 1 realm.

From about 2 weeks ago all the way back a few months ago Mids were the ones zerg'ing at all hours. Prior to that it was Albs that zerg'd like crazy. Hell, not last night, but 4 nights prior to that I seen albs running in 2 fg's 3 nights in a row in Emain. I would agree that the Hib's have been out in RvR alot more lately, and yes sometimes that has resulted in a zerg, but lets not act like the other realms havent doen their fair share of zerging as well. Some of the zerg's show up because Hib has all the relics again. Some are showing up because guilds are starting to make their way out, and when your low RR groups get beat 3 or 4 times in a row by the same 8 man group you decide to bring more on the next run.

I was not going to make a post, but since u made one for us, might as well reply for information reasons:
As you said there was some hib zerg event in emain, and we felt we could try odin's and inform that we were going odins in irc looking for enemies.
I changed my irc name to "fgalbs" and said in quote : " fg albs going odins , looking for enemy groups". As far as i know , correct me if im wrong, announcing that u go to a zone is not the same as arranging fights and therefore not bannable. Also, correct me if im wrong, changing your irc name is not bannable. My intention was not to fool anyone( i did not even know that gms were online at irc) but to not let potential groups know that it was ba at odin's , since we are not exactly the easiest group around and if they know its ba going there, they might be less likely to come(faulty assumption maybe but this was my reasoning).

Understood :) Yah, I was confused, after I responded to this post I looked in bans and said the reason you were banned was from "fooling" the GM's! :) That was a first for me to see that. I always try and avoid IRC for several reasons, most of which would involve me cussing out people and getting banned, but I have done similiar things in game. I've came home from the bars a few times and spammed in broad that a drunk solo ranger was heading out to amg if anyone wanted to try and beat a drunk ranger. Never was banned for it, but that is also late at night (American) when I'm sure most GM's arent on. I dont really see any harm in what you did.

If you read the reason they were banned in the forums it makes no mention of planned RVR. It just says "for fooling us in IRC".

That sounds like a personal problem but then again maybe they have big egos and since they can't stroke them IRL they use what little power they have in the virtual world. That's just what it appears like to me.

It also begs the question to me, couldn't a GM have just asked in IRC who they were before bringing out the banhammer? :gaga:

This is obviously a misunderstanding, like i said: 1) I do not even know the gm who banned me or payed attention to any conversation happening in irc 2) i was unware that he is online. So why would i want to fool him or annoy him?

Oh well, Blue once said that announcing that SOME GRP (not a special grp) will go to ODINS/EMAIN/HADRIANS (which isn't an exact location at all) is not ban-worthy. But other GMs think it IS ban-worthy.

Ban or nto ban but one note to the GM:

You need to make clear rules and you need to say EXACTLY what is forbidden and what is allowed!

And the argument from Eleras that the rule explains everything is nonsense.

RvR Info would be "Omg, I, xyz, gonna go to amg in Odins and wait for decent 1on1. Don't fear the healer, he will rezz dead solos".
If "I (noname) am going to Odins" is RvR Info, oh well...
The rules are not clear enough and they give the GMs much room for interpretation..

Make the rules clear..

Blue stated SEVERAL TIMES that it is NOT bannable to say that your going into a Zone with a FG. Also, i would LOVE to know why you get banned for saying "great zerging guys". There was no information about which zone i spoke, no information about which realm i was in, or the enemy zerg, there was rly no worthwhile information in it at all. And banning ppl because they ask WHY i was banned is even funnier if you ask me.

That's my point. It makes no sense that they banned.

I just cannot understand the Ban-reason too.
Read the Irc as they were banned and i don't know why.

Edit:
The channel was moderated (+m noone was able to talk there) for like 1 hour or so.
It seems like the GM's realy don't understand fun anymore.

This issue here isnt the ban in itself. There are others also who prefer 8v8 , small man action etc, and at specific times they cannot get that in emain for whatever reasons(empty emain or zergs running). Announcing their intent to move to a different zone on irc, might just work , but IF there is a decent chance they will get banned when a gm happens to be online it will deter them from doing so.So it would be helpful if someone from the staff clarifies what is bannable and what isnt. From what i understand so far, disguising ur true identiy on irc is bannable, but i cannot find anything specific about it on the rules. And if the rules are not specific and can be used against you in subjective interpretation they need to be clear and objective.
