lagging yourself in RvR

Just wandering what's the Uth policy on people that lag themselves intentionally and would appreciate a reply from a GM on this.
For example, let's say that a tank is on a caster and that caster lags himself so that the tank will be at around 600-700 range from him when the lag ends. In this situation, has the caster abused lag or is it all fair? Also, I'd like to mention that it's not a single time event, a certain mid caster always uses lag to cast and drag tanks away. Yep, there is a few char's in the game that do this on a consistant basis, but its hard to prove they its "intentional" lag...

OMG mids, mids, mids... I saw albs, mids and hibs using lag for run away from tanks. Not only mids do that |
|
where do you see him saying that only mids do that? hes just mentioning his experience with one mid caster which name he doesnt even mention... jesus...
anyway its obvious some people provoke lags by mostly window draggin...usually it goes like this ... you slam them and short before they see the slam incoming (which is quite easy to make out) they drag or just hold their mouse on the window border (dragging) ..this makes the player move onword the direction he was going before the slam... when the draggin is stopped the played repops back to the position he got slamed at... its easy to make those people out, i dont move after laggers anymore as i know they will pop again where i slam em and in this 5-8 seconds u simply cant hit them at all as a melee and u can just hope to get atleast 1 positional on a slamed target when there should be atleast 3-4 ..speaking from dual wielder 4.0 - 2.6 point of view in my opinion its not easy for the staff to make out those people on their own, as everybody knows the staff is not really doing rvr ![]() still in my opinion it would be a good solution to have 2-3 video proves of people doing such, to get them banned for a longer while |

Have I said all mids lag themselves? I have not, I've said there's a certain mid caster doing it repeatedly. Have I said there isn't a single hib doing it? I have not. Have I said there isn't a single alb doing it?I have not, nor could I ever had because I've never seen any of the Rare casters do it and I don't run in pugs. So, what exactly from my statement are you disagreeing with? ![]() Healowner - Alb/Merlin - The Guardians |

I also thought players do this intentionally but then i got accused for doing this some evenings.
And i play fullscreen and didn't do anything to cause lags... Fabienne - Blademaster

Heho,
I regonize it also myself sometimes, when i get a slam and then tanks just run away from me, but there is not much you can do against that. Would be just could if there would be sometimes which can detect that and give a msg to gm if it happens constant. Greetz Luydor |

Well, tonight I'll start frapsing these situations. Hopefully, it'll be obvious when someone does it on purpose (ie. if he lags when slammed and then doesn't lag at all when running, if he lags when needed to cast far away and then he's alright etc.). If I get a few videos on a single person it'll help I suppose.

Does this also happen on live? Or is the behaviour different there?
Slammed people moving further for 1-2 seconds and warping back to the slam-place, is a good example. I also saw this often. |
|
They fixed it on live somehow afaik

the chat dragging was fixed by making it so that the chat window does not resize until you release the resize square. That way you are just moving around a little square, not the whole chat window, and you don't lag out.
There are however, many ways to lag yourself out, the chat window trick only being one of them. And then you have the problem that uthgard lags like crazy for basically everyone, and especially those people who live far from Germany. I can't tell you how many times I just go LD on inc, or have 3-20 second lag spikes that come and go at random. I can recall when about 4 times in a row I was running solo on Teagen and every time I get inc from an FG I would go LD. When I log back in I am standing at basically the same spot. To that group it prolly looked like I intentionally lagged my client until I LDed out. |
|
But cant the server just let a stunned target stand still on the stunned place directly? Why does it need the "okay" from the lagging client first? Cause it looks like the server waits for the "okay", which comes 2 seconds later, and then warps the player back to the place where he got stunned.

Might be used to lower resource requirements. Real-time tracking of 1000 players - with all kinds of latencies etc - is probably a bit too much for your average computer to handle. So rather than checking positions every ms, the server checks every 1 or 2 seconds? No clue. But the server infrastructure on DOL is different from live servers at any rate, since its just an emulator.

There is a lot ways to laaaaaaaaaaag.
One of them was /changelog macro -> for this ppl got banned some time. But window dragging on the desktop is something that cannot be seen on server + there is still people that lag due to bad connections and/or bad computers. Even if like 3-4 people send in video's - can you punish people for bad internet connections? Beside the fact that this would catch a lot of "abusers" it would also catch some that didn't do it on purpose ![]() |
