I had the time of my life here when the server had some population.

It wasn't the asshat minority as you said it, I guess like 2/3k pop were all asshats who didn't want to play on a server where the people running it refused to change anything until the rot had well and truly set in.

I can remember 2, yes 2, xp weekend events back in the early days. And that was it.

When people where crying out as the xp grind was way too much for the vast numbers of the playerbase, many of us are 15/20 years older now, with jobs, families or just other choices that play something that is too grindy and tedious.

And the two year thing, are you referring to my main. The one I mothballed as when I played there was 0 to do on the times I did log on as a solo cleric.

I just made alts, /tasked to 20. Got bored of solo, logged and never touched it since. Not missed it.

Miss the population though

All the changes you asked for, are here now. It's just nobody cba to PL anyone else now, or farm for items/rog's. Leave alone to spellcraft for anyone else...

In general there is a lot of friendly, helpful and nice people on Albion. Everyone gets invited to everything. And if someone asks for help with leveling, crafting, epic quests or whatever there is usually players there to help.

The clique of mid/hib players on the other hand are rather unfriendly, they insult everyone left and right, they don't care about other players than themself. In fact they actively put in effort to grief enemy players and minimize the amount of rps they get (for example by pulling border guards to take keeps). If they enjoy acting like that and are having fun playing that way that's up to them. Personally I would rather not play at all than be around people like that.

If there were a more open, friendly and less toxic mentally on Midgard and some nice and friendly leadership I think more players from Albion would be willing to play there. But it might be hard to do at this point.

I really can´t confirm all that claims about MID/HIB being not friendly or supportive regarding new players.

I started playing again back in july 2022 after taking a hiatus from Uthgard for years. What happened was the opposite of what most people are reporting in this thread.
When I was asking for help I got answered a lot and people got me a hand. Of course that didn´t always happen just in time but if there was enough folks online I found myself in a pretty nice little community.
I was starting out as a bonedancer to be able to farm some coins and get my first toon ready to pvp. I denied guild invites on my bonedancer whilst leveling because me was thinking without being level 50 already it´s kinda wierd to join a guild.
I got a lot of support on my first templates aswell, people would help me farm difficult drops and I got someone who did the spelling and procs for me (much love out to Karllewis and Vezicul).
After having finished the first two characters I did the very same thing. I helped PL whenever I could, got people parts for their templates on my by the time legendary tailor and later on I did spellcraft a bunch of templates for material cost on my legendary spellcrafter.
Same story when I had a quick take on HIB.

The one thing that is really disturbing for me is how folks would run 2-3 full groups in the frontiers on a regular schedule therefore killing all the fun for a lot of other players because they simply lack the numbers and then start smack talking over MID/HIB on here.
There has been some funny moments when we could get at least one group going on MID to face albions army until they started dodging.

Last time it was 4 groups. We had fensalir at lvl9 with some decent doors, we tried to defend it with 6 mids, ofc that didnt end well for us so albs came, rolled over and left.

And yes, daoc is too in my eyes a game for the pvp

What i dont understand is why you(the albs) wont let us have a fair fight if we catch 1 group straggeling off of the rest of the zerg. It's not like you cant just rezz them after. When you run with 3-4 groups vs Keeps and on a good day 6 decent mids for the past 2 weeks, there is no way that i can be convinced that it brings joy to you when you with that many people have to take lvl1 keeps. Zerging is the Kiss of death for this server's RvR-playerbase, exept Albs ofc.

I'm tempted to come back but I know for a fact if I play another realm, it will be a nightmare to get templated and 50 on either Mid or Hib.

So I will just sit on my hands and hope for a sever reset or a population increase, neither of which I can see anytime soon

Mostly I play NA not EU ( except when I take a holiday/sick/etc. ), so outside of the weekends, it doesn't matter what realm Eli and I are on when it comes to BG days ( unless Romu+crew decide to start BG's on weekends again ).

Most, if not all in this tread known the two of us pretty well, for all of our faults and virtues. So you know that we are generally all about helping anyone and everyone out. The in the game fighting is all we need, not the ridiculous squabbling going on here. All of this is disappointing. The gods of all three realms look down in shame upon all of us in this moment.

Skurk i disagree,
Zerging is not the kiss of death for the RVR'rs, its the opposite, its that juicy prey they want to kill that they can't resist. Nothing makes RVR players happier then killing a zerg of 2-3FG+ with 1fg or better 1 player. I'd argue without Romu keeping the alb zerg alive there would be no RVR player base at all here except a few solos, since the RVR players clearly don't want to fight themselves.

Its a lost cause to try to convert zerg players to play the way you want as an RVR player. Better to convince other like minded RVR players to fight each other. But for whatever reason everytime i've seen or been a part of rvr vs rvr players it lasts only 1 -3 lost fights before one team decides they can't win and players quit. RVR players need non RVR players to eat. Something akin to Free keep rps in a way.

When the keeps stop being traded it doesn't make zerg players go out and look for fights. They go PVE.

Yeah our guilds can't keep a keep at lvl 8 anymore, not enough BPs. Typically when I lead or am part of a keep take BG on the weekends I ask for doors to be upped to 2-3 (or do it myself if i can carry the wood) and will claim a keep and up it to 4 so whomever takes it next will get more then the base 450 rp. I almost never go out to defend keeps #Boring. Happy to give free keep RP.
