A decent group of old players are looking to be back into daoc on uthgard on a casual time's of play. But we want to be on the fair side of thing. is there anyway to know what the population looks like atm on each realm? so we know which one is overpop and to stay away from it?

You can pretty much expect Mid to be the over populated realm bar none. So the real question is whether to go Alb or Hib. It's negligible which out of those two will be the lower pop but you can pretty much bet that Mid will be the top pop realm.

Eh not really. Alb will have a much higher pop that Hib as they have to make the 10-15min run to emain in order to RvR.

I'd say Mid > Alb > Hib in terms of pop. Guessing 36%, 34%, 30%

who cares the population, play the realm you want play most or have friends in.

if its like beta(when people played) it would be about 40% mid, 33% alb, 27% hib. but alb just pve's , and hibs will be late to the party because 93.5% of the population will be enchanters fighting over the mentalists/druids. with 1 valewalker running around. so those numbers don't tell the whole story.
