checking the ranking from the last closed beta you can see only 1 caster at top 50 realm points holders

dark age of tank a lot ?

to check the ranking go to new uthgard launcher then ranking.

Those are not closed beta stats, those are from the live server which ran for several years until 2014 and does not indicate anything because it was a very different ruleset.

You do realize that top rp is just a function of playtime, right?

The first rr12 on live was a Runemaster, the second was a Bonedancer, then there was this rr12 thane who only zerged, it literally means nothing in terms of balance.

With a huge population at the launch casters will absolutely thrive when it comes to farming RPs, no doubt about it.

It was a different meta. There were really only 8v8 fights with nearly 0 keep fights or zergs. You know who owns keep fights and zergs? Casters. Open 8v8 is just too much about training down the weakest link and then hitting more armored targets after that. This means that in 8v8 having low defenses is a liability and was therefore less desirable.

In keep fights terrain helps casters have an edge because those pesky tanks can't climb walls to retaliate. Stealthers become desirable in groups because they can climb walls. Honestly the whole game meta changes a lot when 8v8 is not the be all end all in the game any more.

I'm sure you will still see a lot of high RR people playing tanks, but with the keep RP bonus it's a more level playing field.

there will be no chargetrains on uth 2.0.
i feel like on 2.0 (even if castersetups are easier to counter and harder to execute) it will balance out a bit. especially if you consider the keepchanges.
i wouldnt worry for now, unless you want to make 100% sure you will be successful in rvr without much effort.
if thats the case i advise rolling a troll berserker and mastering the complex art of doublefrost.

1.65 is even worse for casters so there are going to be more tanks as ever

The reason caster grps was bad on uth 1.0 was first and foremost new RAs. With charge for tanks, no speed warp and no casting speed it was really a tank favoured server. We ran a hib caster grp for a while there. Ench debuff didnt interupt like it should, resist rate on spells <50 was too high and there was some buggs with pets (dont remember what..) All this made it a challenging time :D

We also ran a hib caster/hybrid grp on Origins with old ras and stuff. It was awesome! Caster grp is gona be viable option on Uth 2.0 im sure.

New Ras made the Albion Hybrid superior to any other setup you could run and as soon as you had access to your rank 5 abilites any Mid or Hib group was basicly free rps.

Caster and Hybrid Groups were really strong on Uth 1.0 and will still be the more dominat setups on Uth 2.0,difference is Mid Hybrid moves to the bottom of the food chain and Hib Hybrid to the top

The only big thing that changes is that with old RA's full melee groups will be viable.

Koochi made the beta quit.
