Removal of guardtasks.

People for tasking === people that just want to task all night and avoid PvP
See, isnt this a fun lil generalization game. We can both play that game. |

So far, this has been the best thing that's happened to the server since I started last year.

What it boils down to is no one has the right to tell others how to play a game, especially a game that is FREE to play.
Let the GM's do their changes and let's see what happens from here. However, what some of you NEED to understand is that all these changes are not going to solve the simple problem.......There is a lack of North American players playing at these times of day and I say that as a euro who works on a US time zone and sees both prime times. |

lol, since the change, there is less ppl incing amg, all busy taking keep and making zerg vs zerg, and i love it, even if iam an amg camper. Go cry away, thx 2012:<@[Uth]Abydos> If we don't have SI by the end of the year, Im fairly certain I wont be a GM anymore :-p

The changes have virtually the same effect on NA players as they do the euro players, its just in smaller numbers. Instead of a 3fg running to zerg at euro time, there is a good chance to catch one group running around trying to take keeps, which if you ask me, the NA players should be drooling over since they don't always have to put up with larger zergs.
You know the only reason why our group went to emain yesterday? We saw keep taking going on in emain that shifted from jamtland and went hunting. This is a huge difference from the mentality of getting a group together, running to emain in hopes another rvr group is out to fight against. The people that want to fight other people now have an option to hunt them down, because the tasks will only get people so far, and keep taking is a whole lot more fun when a defense is in place anyway. If you want to solo there are lots of places to do so, as taskers will always be around to try and get realm rank to a decent clip. There is even a decent possibility visible soloers can run emain now NA time without worrying as much about being rolled by a group, especially if you see keep fights going on in the zones. This also should encourage more NA players to join the server in the long run to enjoy the benefits of the variety of rvr. |

I couldnt agree more Sheldor. I think this change helps out everyone. Yes, some of us will have to adjust our usual game a bit, but I have no problem with that. I can play however I'm needed, but in order to have PvP/RvR you have to have other players to fight against. This change gives us more of that.

It does and it doesn't Ron. I see a lot less of the casual "i'll go out and grab a few rp" people running now (*** during my play time***). They either build a group to go take a keep , or they're doing something else (? leveling alts, jumping realms to take keeps back and forth, bg's?). I know you'll be back in a day or so, and you can see what i'm talking about. I still think the change is for the best. But, that's just what it is... a change... If it means that i have to conform and not play a particular character as much as i would like, then i have to get used to that.

Yah, I was talking with Gynsu about it Mee, and I basically told him if the solo action in Emain is slow (which Gynsu said it had been) then we will just have to form up a keep taking party to take keeps and kill other people that are taking keeps. Is that my idea of fun RvR? Not really, but the casual RvR's were steadly declining as it was in Emain. I think we will just have to adjust a bit to get used to this new setting.

The reason why this is a good thing overall for NA players is because this creates a bridge for casual rvr players that didn't exist before. I've said in other posts, realm rank will not make or break a group in full-on 8v8 meet in the open go toe to toe situation. You end up having people come out of thid and either were tasking to get higher realm rank, or had to try emain and learn on the fly. Either way the abrupt playstyle change whenever you end up hitting that "big boy" rvr is harsh at times, and there will be nights when you get nothing for hours, and as a casual gamer is very discouraging.
With this keep taking system in place, players have the option to get realm points and enjoy the fights they have with other players when they do roll around. The key to this is they also are transitioning to learning how to play their toons for if they do decide to try a full 8man scenario, they aren't completely new to how it all works. Granted the learning curve will still be there, but it won't be nearly as steep. The end result of this is I think you will see a lot more people coming around to play, because there are more options to have fun in rvr situations. Keep coming out to those frontiers to take or defend keeps. I am going to try to do everything I can to do the same. |

OK So we've had a full week of this. Unfortunately, I've not had much time to log on due to RL stuff, but when I have.. it's been fun on the visible, non-stealther classes.
