This is a message to all three realms.

If you want to enjoy rvr in Braemar, or anywhere for that matter, and you have an even number of players on each side - why would you invite more people to fight? You are going to cause an imbalance which just isnt fun for the other side. If you want to have fun, keep the numbers fair and enjoy. If you dont, you'll be sitting in a zone *doing nothing*!

Albs, Hibs and Mids are guilty of this - i am not accusing any one side or person.

often you have the situation as follow:
There are few ppl in Braemar just for leveling. Now an enemy attacks. The enemy outnumbers the leveling in braemar und often they have all lev 30 and the leveling not.
So the ppl just ask for backup in ally channel or broadcast. So they get backup but most of the time with some delay so they ask 2 or 3 times don't knowing that already some backup is on they way.
Now add some backup who only reacts on the raiding msg.
And after 20 minutes you outnumber your enemy who sometimes shortens himself by loosing players who go leveling an other char.
I don't think anyone plans to "zerg" in Braemar. It's just a problem of response time and the fact that most players use every oppertunity to have some RvR.

I think closing the BG completely isn't an option - as has been discussed a lot already. If you remove it (and thus the mid-game) you'll also loose some players before they even reach the end-game!

Regarding the Zerg situation: There is no easy solution for that. :( True - when realm A fights realm B with more players realm B has a chance to loose the fight because of that. (Depending on the group set-up they might win, as well!) So, realm A takes some time and finally decides on who to send home. Then, realm A goes to battle again - and faces realm B who now got reinforced themselves. (On the other hand, maybe realm B has already left because they thought no-one would show up because the discussion took too long?) Suddenly, realm C pops up and kills both fighting parties. So, A and B once more start to call for support. The people who have just been sent home now have lost their interest and decide to do something else ( no more RvR for some time) or indeed more people show up ( same situation as before).

On a server with a relative small community it is probably the players' responsibility to decide on when to send someone home to keep RvR alive. However, as explained above, you can never be sure what the other realms are doing which means there is always a chance that your decision could be wrong...
Happy hunting!

To send someone home only happens in emain. There wasn't anyone sent away from Braemar afaik.

And the zerg happens, because players type "/who Braemar", see there are 10 ppl and of course think there has to be some action.

In emain the situation for me is easier.
Either I go there and get pwned immediately, or I will be sent back, because the others think they are enough without me.

Sometimes there is some RvR without any enemy (beating keepdoors). All possibilities aren't much fun.

@nepomuk: All the "gimps that cannot play"(majority of Alb population, I guess) are sent back home (at least in Alb) or are getting pwned, so why shouldn't they go Brae? There they meet gimps that can't play from other realms, which sure is more fun.

Yes, there is no easy solution... recently however some members of my guild have opted to leave on their own. I wondered about this, and actually thought they were abandoning the defense/raid... it wasnt the case! I had to apologize to them, because i understand now they are just trying to balance the play.

The situation that finally prompted me to write this post was a small skirmish in braemar playing Gtae. Fran and 2 friends had been defending the keep. We were only 2 mid's and 10 seconds into /quit after running 5 times and managing to kill 1 2x only, we got a 3rd and decided to make a game of it... we went back and found they recruited a 4th... they already had the numbers, so i got a bit frustrated that they brought another. Maybe he came uninvited i dont know... but i hope that most all of us can think about making it even numbers more in the future.

This is a pretty offensive reply. I have been PvPing in MMOGs since the early days of UO. I dont consider myself a gimp -- in fact, i try to push my groups to use tactics too much on occasion. A lot of players are not experienced, but labeling them gimps because they choose to play in braemar, or in wilton is not fair. I made a choice to xpoff not because i cant pvp in emain but because i enjoy low level rvr just as much as high level. It is attitudes like this that make newer players shy away from emain, the elitist attitude has no place here - especially since the community is small.

If you are serious about building a strong alliance, we need to nurture and teach the n00bs so they can grow into something stronger later on. I shouldnt have to remind any of you that we were ALL n00bs at one time or another.

You cant control reinforcements. Its not only the difference in numbers, but lvl as well.
And when 4 lvl 30 chars cant be defeated by 8 lvl 20-25 and they ask for reinforcements? Is that balanced? Fair?

You got to fight with what you have. Or can have. Usually Albs have no chance in emain. Shall I open a topic with the same problem in emain?

@nepomuk: gimp is who says things like that. Braemar is only a difference in conditions, not gameplay experience. I saw many Braemar chars using much more tactics and playing smarter than many in emain.
