btw, what does sg in your opinion stand for?

i thought, its the german Stammgruppe, which means fixed group.
So it actually doesnt have anything to do with ts or rr.
It just means you are a group of players that (no guild required) organize their rvr, and go on some days in the week together to rvr, prolly as a fg.

one differentiates, gg from fixed grp. but in most of the cases i think a fix grp is also a guildgrp. like anguish later was.

edit: alright i just saw it, set grp. but thats the same isnt it. doesnt stand for guild/ts/rr

That is the real definition as I know it.

It is basically 8 people who play together all the time.

TS, RR and Guild makes no difference.

Actually to have a SG inside a guild is considered very bad for the guild as a whole, especially if the guild is of any decent size.
It leads to conflicts, and splits the guild.

This is also the most common origin of so called <gank groups> (As the americans like to call them).
A SG within a Guild breaks out of the guild (and many times take away key players from the guild, making the guild unable to rvr much for themself), and forms a new shortlived "mini-guild".

I lol at all this arguing over a definition

If your group has good players it has good players, end of story..call yourself whatever you like, you can call yourself the floating pixies and it won't make a difference.

sure good players are important. But to take it to the next level the good players need to know how to play together and how the other players play.

I still say even the best grps here on uthgard would not have had a chance against the real sg's on live server. Where the same 8 player played together for years.

well the reason for it you give urself...uthgard yet doesnt have/had ANY grp that played together for a very long time with nearly all the time the same 8 players like it was on live...and im kinda happy about it. not for myself but for the evolving of this server.

but the past of uthgard also showed that setgroups coming from liveservers actually didnt stand a chance against the freeshard classic gimps(which most likely are/were live players too) ;) for some reason all those quickly disappeared after a few weeks/month of rvr. in my opinion mostly because setgroups in daoc are a relic anyway...ull never find 8 ppl playing this game excessivly enough at fixed times during the week... daoc is simply to old for that
