Either if you are playing at work for a few clicks, full-time at home or even multiple accounts, I can't recommend the silliness that is Kingdom of Loathing (KoL) enough.

https://www.kingdomofloathing.com

It's a graphically enhanced text-rpg, that takes playing with words, sarcasm and references to old school to a whole new level.
If you do join and decide it's for you, try also KoLmafia. Makes it a lot more enjoyable.

As a starter class I'd recommend Turtle Tamer, Pastamancer or Disco Bandit, but I deem all six classes playworthy and fun for their own reasons. Just wait with the Saucerer, at least to me it was the most annoying class to start.

Crossout.

A good laugh, and you can just mess around with it for short bursts if you do not have a lot of time and still have a blast.

The vehicle builder is almost a mini-game in and of itself

These are all the games I play currently:
Gremlins Inc - board game multiplayer fun
Civ V - good replay ability
TotalWar Shogun 2 - I usually auto resolve battle and focus on the ninja and monk plays
Prison Architect - hard game management type, lots of thinking involved to optimize money spending and prison growth
Expédition Conquistador - enjoyable turn based game
Diablo 3 - lots of loots yay!
Pubg - lots of wasted time fps
Heroes of the storm - enjoyable for the blizzard universes nostalgia it's a cool moba
The darkest hour - you can buy this cheap on tablet too

I want to mention the boardgames!
A very nice way to socialise and at the same time get some "gaming" done.
MY favourite game right now is probably Tyrants of The Underdark which takes about 90 minutes to play and with a Kickass D&D theme :)

Other good games are Biblios, (a lighter game you can play over a couple of beer, takes about 20 minutes to play), and Terraforming Mars (Terraform Mars with your buddies in 2 hours? cool!)
