So, I know ESO and GW2 have tried to imitate DAoC's RVR system. Ive played both but was deterred from getting to max level in ESO because I heard Cyrodil is almost unplayable at times due to lag. I did some forum searching before I found out about Uthgard trying to find a place to fulfill that empty hole that DAoC once filled. I read that ESO brought the closest RVR experience to date.

That being said, anyone think the expansion Morrowind, I am getting spammed via email and seeing all over FB will bring about a good RVR feel? I think I only got to level 30 in that game. I see myself playing Uthgard for a long time anyways and would probably wait until then expansion has been released and look at the feedback.

ESO RVR comes really close to Daoc in terms how the fights are. Stealther play is also similar. You can camp some place and there are incs everywhere. Even ppl that just do pve stuff run around. You can play a sniper and snipe from keeps. I don't know how the meta has changed but a good grp could also kill 30+ ppl if they play right. So its quite similar to daoc from the pvp.

Gameplay wise its totally different. CC is quite weak. Its important but weak compare to daoc. I play it on console and because of style canceling it plays more like a fighting game. It has quite fast rotations. All is recourse based, not cool down based also similar to daoc.

Biggest difference is the progression. Its not pvp progression its pve. the grind is hard and long to get max CP. You can also play low level or no cp campaign and you will have a lot of fun. I am still not max level. Because I am casual.

I would say ESO its closes to Daoc as it can gets. you can tell that some devs are the same. Still now I am playing here its because Daoc is my old love. Just give it a try. I am pretty sure I will play Eso again for a while. Got some low level toons and mats to make goods sets to have some nice pvp.
A good thing as well is that mats and item level stay the same so you can have big breaks but catch up easy. I hope new expansion wont change this.
Hope GMs are fine with what they have stated, that they are fine with just 80 people (300ppl was Trishin Statement long time ago) playing the game under their vision.
Its important to leave this server running doesn't matter how low the numbers will be. The other servers can fail but Uthgard still will be there, thats Uthgards only chance.

Edit 19/09/21: Well Uthgards chance has come.

ESO PvE is quite good, very story driven and skill wise is quite interesting. You do actually get new abilities not just better ones.

Only problem I found is what is common in modern MMORGPs, being so self sufficient that you don't ever need to even talk to someone is pretty bad. You end up playing a single player game. If you find yourself a group of like-minded people you should be fine unless they decide to go on their own because that's faster :|

That's why some old games like EQ or DAoC were so good, they enforced people to socialise :)

I went into Cyrodil last night on my NB. I was level 28. It was okay. I found some action, got a couple kills. We sieged a keep which was cool to see. Only problem was I actually got bored with the combat in the middle of the fray. It most likely was due to my inexperience with the PvP combat. I was sniping at people on the walls and doing little damage (not like a crit shot from an archer in daoc to a caster) or I would jump someone and it would take a long time to kill. Everyone can 1v1 everyone it felt like for the most part. I guess I prefer the hard CC and the rock/paper/scissors that is DAoC such as if I go after a caster with my NS, I may die but at least I got one :) Plus the constant spam of AoE everywhere just felt like GW2. If anything, it made me log off and play my NS a bit more lol

Low level pvp its important that you level all skills you need early on. Some buffs are important. Check good builds and craft the sets you need to use them efficiently. Also get as much skillpoints as possible to get all passives.
If everything is optimized you can almost one shot ppl with bow. Eso has the problem that there are some super defensive player you cant kill but they cant kill you as well but that lead to cheesy combat.
No CP is way to go because this players will run out of resources. Full Cp campaign sucks because of this.

Hope the addon will change some things. The way keep battles work and the fights(not gameplay, just situations) are similar to Daoc. Good game with great story, PvE and quests too. Very casual friendly. Low level you can find already high mats, item level doesn't change and crafted items are pretty good.
Hope GMs are fine with what they have stated, that they are fine with just 80 people (300ppl was Trishin Statement long time ago) playing the game under their vision.

I played Eso for 2,5 years, 75% of the time in AvA with several chars.

Eso AvA has absolutly nothing to do with DAoC RvR.
Today the AvA relies on proc-sets and/or cp`s, not on skill.
Not to mention the really lousy performance after 3 years now, sometime the engine isn`t able to handle fight with 50ppl.

The PvE-Part up to level 50 is one of the best i`ve ever played.
After that it`s a grindfest for cp`s and items.
Forgot the epic fight against the ridiculous RNG
