Hello,

I have a strange lag problem here. We are a group of 5 friends in RL. 2 couples in Germany and 1 very nice guy from England :)

When I play alone with my friend from England, I have no lag. When I play in a group with everyone else, I sometimes have very violent lag (middle lamp of the lag-o-meter is often yellow, sometimes red) and both the gameplay (casts, movements) as well as the chat (!) are strongly delayed. Sometimes even all players and mobs disappear for a little while.

If my wife (same network but ofc different computer as me) is not online, the lag will be much better but still slightly noticable. She though has no lag at all, only me. As soon as I play with my friend from England again, I have no lag.

My internet connection is 250mbit fast and very stable. Otherwise I have no internet problems. Fun fact: The other couple from Germany has very similar problems (though living in a total different place at least 15 kilometer away from here). This all happens since around maybe 3 month or so, before there were no problems at all.

Any idea what that could be?

Thanks in advance!

Hallo Exca,

Thank you for your answer Shining!

For all a short summary in English: Shining has a similar problem (he has same Internetprovider like i have, Telekom) and for him it helped to renew his IP Adress so long until he gets an Adress from a specific Pool. Some IP Adress Pools seem to have the problem, others not.

Shining, my IP Adress comes from a totally different Pool. But i will have an eye on it and try to find a pool which works well. Though i think it needs to be handled carefully. As far as i know, every reset of router (and loss of connection) sets a flag at our provider and if loss of connection happens too often, your internet settings will be reduced from serverside to help you getting a more stable connection (because Provider thinks that your connection is not stable because of many connection losses).

I have the same problem!

(I already told Excalibur93 ingame about it, but I also want to share it for the devs here)

Since the end of May, I also have the same problem.

Before that, I never experienced regular lag, apart from the rare server hiccups.
But since then, the middle bubble of the "Lag-o-Meter" is frequently turning yellow and sometimes even red with long lags and even LDs.
There are days without that problem, but there are many days with the problem clearly present and even without any indication in the Lag-o-Meter, there's a noticable delay in any action on those days.

I am also living in Germany and my ISP is also Deutsche Telekom. I am using MagentaHybrid, which is DSL + LTE, but I have set the router to route any connections to Uthgard always via the DSL line when I first encountered the problem (though nothing changed).

I already used MTR for a traceroute to the Uthgard server, but that didn't show any real problems.
My ping to Uthgard is usually at around 35ms and even when the game was lagging badly, the ping in MTR didn't really change much and was nowhere near the 500+ ms that I was seeing in game, before I LD'd.
There was the occasional packet loss, but also without any real correlation to the manifestation of the problem ingame.

Though I noticed that when I was running MTR while we (Albs) were doing a dragon raid, the game closed itself on INC. This occured on a number of tries on different days, but I guess it was just some kind of DDoS-protection of the server, which probably didn't like the constant pinging from my IP and then the sudden spike in traffic when all the spells etc. started and disconnected me.

I hope the devs can find a solution for this problem because it really really takes the fun out of anything that is impacted by lag.
