US player - hit with persistent LD waves

Hello!
I have been encountered this issue more and more frequently lately - I am playing from the US, and have Comcast (yes, it's awful), and I get hit with waves of back-to-back LDs at seemingly random times. Sometimes everything will work perfectly for a week, and then I'll have 1-3 hours of constant LDs. The LDs don't really feel like the ones I'm accustomed to either, where the latency goes up and you see players floating away and all that laggy stuff. Things will function just like they are supposed to, but suddenly casting animations will stop working (while movement and actuall spell effects from casting will still go off as normal), and I'll be thrown out of the game. As a concluding observation (but I might just be imagining this): it seems to happen mostly when I'm in dungeons and DF, and much more rarely when I'm playing in outdoor zones. At least, it does not with the same intensity, where I'll have immediate LDs as soon as I get back in the game. I know people have discussed VPNs, which might be the way I need to go, but have anyone else had similar issues and managed to solve it? Am I missing something simple like port forwarding and whatnot? |

FINALLY SOMEONE ALSO HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS.
The way you describe it is exactly what I notice. It seems to happen a ton in housing zone and almost instantly if I do something that would require getting info from the server, like checking my merchant or checking the market explorer. If i'm just standing there idling I WILL LD during these streaks but it's not instant, might happen like 10 minutes after being online or maybe 15-20 at most. I noticed it happen less when I was at SF or when I was inside SH (before an SH raid i was waiting in dodens and I LD'd 3 times in a span of 15 minutes, and then it was fine for an hour, then immediately after exiting dodens and zoning into into SH I was fine for the 3 hours I was in there. It all started 5-7 days ago and I was just chain LD'ing every time I logged back into the game. Exactly as you described it too. I pinged the server and i had zero drops even when I was LD'ing. my pings stayed constant before, during, and after I LD'd. it was completely fine the whole time. I did a traceroute and the ms was low the whole path. Nothing out of the ordinary or something that would cause a normal LD. I never drop from TS/discord/whatever else, my net stays STRONG throughout. I, too, have Comcast but I've had zero issues and comcast NEVER drops me. I have good comcast it seems, its like 230MB down and 15MB up. Up until 5-7 days ago I never LD'd out of the ordinary, maybe once every week or so if I can even remember it being that often. Now it seems after midnight EST I LD frequently and it stops late morning/noon. I RVR fine during the day when the server is at its heaviest. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO ITS REALLY ****** ME OFF!!! I can't play at all during the times when this spike crap happens. Dominance <Blood> - R5 Berserker

+1 for Mudfish.
Try that. It's very cheap and quick to setup (only DAoC option in Mudfish is preconfigured for Uth). It will give you better routing. I do wonder if this has to do with their anti-lag code that caused people to phase in and out existence or different "planes". Somebody mentioned there is/was a launcher line of text that you can add to remove UDP traffic... Google "Uthgard no UDP" and that might do it. Satanic Panic - Cleric

I will give Mudfish a whirl this weekend and see if it helps
![]() As another little side note: I have noticed that these LD sprees very rarely happen when I'm using the wifi at work or anywhere away from my comcast prison. Don't know if that helps flesh out the problem at all, but thought I'd mention it. |
