I don't have any urls in my post. And I am trying to write an accurate support post for troubleshooting this problem. Last edited by nacho on May 05, 2017 17:55, edited 2 times in total.

It still isn't letting me post this message, so I am going to write it as a reply here and change the title to the forum topic.

So yesterday I got tired of not being able to Alt-Tab while playing on Uthgard, as soon as I would alt-tab my screen would freeze, I couldn't AltTab, CtrlAtlDel, or anything for that matter. So instead of figuring out which C++ distro I needed to uninstall, I figured it was about time for a fresh start. So I organized & backed-up and then proceeded to wipe my drives for a new fresh OS install.

Zoom to now, in this order: I have installed Windows 10, updated chipsets, drivers (while making sure my primary gfx controller is my card) All basically the same chipsets & drivers as before when was playing.

Installed DAOC, Fresh install of net 4.6, Fresh install of 2015 C++ x86 distro, NOTE only these 2 MS packages installed. Install Uthgard launcher, Patch Uthgard, Launch Uthgard to black screen. Frozen, no keyboard input, have to manually power-off comp.

I feel like this is something super easy and it is just waiting to bite me in the leg. Please send help.

If nothing else at least go to the launcher options by clicking + next to Play and set it to full screen windowed, it makes alt-tab 100x faster.

Thank you for this tip, yea I have been keeping that box selected since I started here. I am worried now that the problem is either the Window 10 Creators Update or the New patch from DAOC live with the Dragon's Curse campaign. Those are the only 2 new changes to my setup. As I said this is a fresh install and exactly the right Microsoft packages that I should need to run on this server. Note for any GMs, creators update introduced Game Mode, and I just want to clarify, I had game mode disabled as well as xbox game bar disabled before I ever installed DAOC or the Uthgard client. |

Since I cannot link a link, google "Troubleshooting Blocked NET Framework Installations and Uninstallations" look in the !important! block.
Windows 10 Creators update PREinstalls NET 4.7 AND get this.. it isn't in the programs list or able to uninstall from control panel. Great Job Microsoft. ***NOTE*** Don't do windows 10 creators update! I tried NET 4.6 SDK and 4.6 Framework because they will let you over install on top of a 4.7 NET and still black frozen screen |

Well just got news that other user is on windows update 1703 and not having any problems, so now all this troubleshooting is out of the window.

**UPDATE** got off the phone with microsoft, so fresh installs of windows 10 creator updates pre installs NET 4.7 and does not let you uninstall it. This is causing a problem for anyone who needs older versions of NET on a fresh 10 install. Microsoft had no solutions at the moment and sent the report higher.
Even through the place in Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features |_|Turn Windows features on and off where you can uncheck NET 4.7, it is still blocking the install of NET 4.6, and 4.6 SDK/Framework isn't working. |

So is Uthgard going to address this for Win 10 users? I just installed a 2nd partition Win 7 OS to alleviate it, but I have a friend that this option isnt available to him and wants to continue to play. I can possibly work around it with him, but was rather hoping the techs running the server might have a solution that doesnt require trying to walk him through a 2nd partition OS build (he isnt very tech savy) and isnt really close to my home so difficult to do. Thanks for any solutions you guys may have.

I ran into issues with audio drivers with the Creators Update. While not quite the same thing, I would highly recommend checking critical drivers (video, audio, chipset, networking, etc.) and installing the latest available from manufacturer.

Solved this problem for me by disabling MSI Afterburner and RivaTunerStatisticServer.
Hope it helps |
