Clarification on Powerleveling Services

Are you allowed to trade in game currency for powerleveling time?
IE - John gives Bob 500gold for Bob to powerlevel him for an hour. All others rules being followed - no dual logging, no real life currency exchanged, etc. Had somebody in game get up my ass over this and rant about appealing - I just wanted to clarify so I can tell him to bugger off or stop before trouble arrives. |

Hi Budikah,
In game currency is fine although anything that includes transactions regarding real life money will result in an immediate account termination. There are a few things to consider here, whilst the player is being pl'd they must be active at their computer. If they are afk for a significant amount of time that will also result in an investigation and potential ban. People coming together as a community can make great things happen.

Thank you for the answer for the first part. The bolded part is worrying - because... a) it is said NOWHERE in your rules or FAQ (https://uthgard.org/rules) (https://uthgard.org/howto#5) as well as not in the in-game popup when you login. b) when you are being powerleveled, you are often just sitting there - so why not go do a few dishes, stretch, walk the dogs, etc and then check back in? Obviously I can see you guys checking to see if somebody is a buffbot or an alt - but if you've got two totally separate people and one checks in every few minutes is there really an issue? I appreciate the answer, but you guys are overzealous with your policing and what you just stated isn't in your rules. I don't want to play on your server, put in the work to hit level 50, and find out I'm violating some rule that wasn't stated anywhere or end up banned because I went to do something for a few minutes while being leveled. |

If you feel our rules are not clear then I apologise, I will take a look and revise if I feel it is necessary.
In regards to your point about 'dogs and dishes' etc. Please take a closer look at my post, there will be an investigation first. For example we may give the player five minutes (or longer) to return to the keyboard in order to pass any tests etc. We understand more than people think that sometime you may be away for 5-10 minutes. The point however still stands, if the player is being PL'd they should be aware that they may need to prove that they are active and thus have this in mind before doing anything which could result in a ban or being away from the keyboard for a prolonged amount of time. People coming together as a community can make great things happen.

I think is very different 'few minutes' and 'significant amount of time' It's the thrill of the chase
and I'm coming after you. |

Neither of which are defined numerically, or in the rules - which is my issue. The entire point of this server is the journey and putting effort into your character as you go along which I'd rather not see dashed away because I'm banned without warning over the perceived differences of 'few minutes' and 'significant amount of time'.

This came up as I was typing my last post - thank you for the clarification. It isn't that they are not terribly clear - it's just that the rule you just spoke of simply doesn't seem to be on your rules page. |

It comes down to technical stuff i think. You can easyly powerlevel a second account on a diffrent isp and pc if beeing afk permanently would be ok while powerleveling

Well, in your opinion which should it be: putting effort into your character or getting power leveled? Gil DaTroll - Merlin Zerker | MacDeath - Uth1 Armsman | Gil - Uth2 Zerker | Macdeath - Uth2 Armsman

Eg. : Account A / Computer 1 / Isp X -- Account B / Computer 2 / Isp Y Account A active / Account B inactive/afk when checked 2 diff account, 2 diff computer, maybe 2 diff people But, if GM they can proof that accout B has been logged, few time ago, on computer 1, or account B used Isp X sometime ago, and when checked account B was sticked/PLed by account A. It means A know and may be B. If in the historical activity of B actions were only with A. Imo both account can be baned. |

Which is possible - I'm just looking for a number. Should I check in every fifteen minutes? Will I be flagged until I respond? If I'm gone for 20 minutes and come back and failed to respond am I instantly banned? Can I appeal an action and prove that the power leveler and myself are different people or is it just one and done? I wouldn't care so much if they weren't so heavy handed with their punishments. If they gave a warning or jailed a character until they were able to give proof, fine. It's the combination of... A) heavy handed punishments for infractions. B) this seemed to be nowhere on the rules page - are they making more up on the fly? At least keep us updated C) a non specific amount of time to respond. How long exactly do I have to respond from when a GM messages me? In most cases it wouldn't be a big deal - you appeal or PM a staff member and explain what happened - but does that happen here? I don't know. I have yet to have any in game staff interaction but I don't want to find out at the last moment that it's a one and your done permanent ban for going to walk my dogs while getting powerleveled.
XPing is boring no matter which way you put it. Just getting to 50 is an arduous enough task in a game with archaic PvE mechanics, long regen rates, and relatively simple monster AI. Satanic Panic - Cleric
