Hey guys!

So I used to get this bug years ago on my old computer and still get it to this day on a completely different one. So this got me thinking and I had some guy try and reproduce it...he got it as well.

Basically what it is: with any caster class, walking while trying to spam a spell (for example AF buff, or pbaoe...basically anything) somehow triggers this bug/glitch where I end up with no spell effects on self. Either hands don't glow when casting a spell, can't see the actual spell on myself, or both...relogging resolves the issue, but eventually I'm bound to get this again.

If you get this, other players won't be able to see spell effects on you either. This is very annoying to me as playing a caster without being able to see my own spell-effects is a huge turnoff.

I also made a short video to demonstrate the issue: youtube ---> /watch?v=VpuWt_moiA8

Would really appreciate any input on this.

TY,

Kedor

I actually had this as well once on my mentalist. It was this week. Don't have any evidence though...

ok but why do you spam an ability while moving when that is completely useless :)

You run towards a mob and hold down the button to see when he's in range for example.

Exactly.

Also in RvR, let's say for example two enemy casters meet eachother. Being the first one to cast a spell will be a huge advantage, so you start "pre-spamming" your ability a few steps before reaching maximum range, so that as soon as you see you're in range, you just /face and cast the spell.

I do it all the time and I guess so many others do it as well. It's just really weird that this didn't happen at all way back in the day, and it's been happening in the last few years.

I'm creating a ticket. I can reproduce it really easily with my enchantress. Just walk forward, hold down bomb for 3+ seconds and the bug is there. Only way to get rid of it is relog. Others see the spell effects though (would be a major bug otherwise).
Not sure whether specific settings are necessary for it to happen.

Before creating an issue please make sure this bug does not exist on Pendragon.
Otherwise it is most likely a client bug we cannot fix.

Whoops sorry, I just created it. I do not have access to Pendragon (or if I have, I do not know how to access it).
I realize that this might be a client issue though where you can't do anything about it.
Ticket is as follows: https://uthgard.org/tracker/issue/2946/

Edit: Copying client now and check whether I can somehow login to pen.

Hey, so I just made a trial account and created a brand new level 1 Wizard on Ywain 4.

Well, it happens there as well, same exact thing. This is so weird that this could keep happening for years and not get noticed or, if noticed, resolved on live servers.

So I guess it's a problem with the actual client? And if so, is there any way at all one could roll back to a really old client version and still be able to play on Uthgard? I remember that spell effects used to show up every single time you tried to cast -for example- a PBAoE spell while moving, resulting in an awesome visual spam!

Mh ok so nothing that could be done. :(

Too bad, because that's rather annoying.

Did they remove spell effects showing up when you're moving & casting on the Live client?

Yeah, if you move and try to cast, the failed spell's effects don't show up at all. Casting effects only show up along with the casting animation.

Like that? seems weird to me, playing a RM mainly ;) to each his own though (i just use other things in between casttries)
Anyway it feels like its not purely on Uthgard but it could be. I could not mimic this on another freeshard (completely different client).
