Server location / VPN?

Hi. Need some tech advice. Due to where I live (japan, okinawa) I am thinking to get a VPN to where the server is located. Right now I have thirteen 'hops' between me and the server. Would it be wise to get a VPN located near the server to reduce lag?

Somehow you must bridge the distance and the amount of hops to Japan seems ok to me. I can't imagine you can shorten that much. Server is located in germany.

The longest hop I have is actually from Germany to USA ... So maybe it will help slightly. I'm just tired of having MoS5 and it acts like MoS2 haha. Again, thanks. Also, if anyone knows of some accredited VPN services please post it here or send me a PM if we are not allowed to advertise them here.
