Hi Folks of Uthgard,
I want to join the server. My name is Tyler and I played Dearyo a RR11 minstrel on percival. I also played other chars on percival / guinevere / gawaine. I am excited to join this server and try it out as I have been out of DAoC for just over two years. I am very bad with computers, I don't like them and they don't like me. I tried to join the server but kept crashing or having issues. I do however have ventrilo, messengers, and email. Is there anyone on this forum that has the willingness to do a "hand holding" process with me to get me started on this server? I sincerely appreciate the guidance. Thank you in advance. /salute Dearyo Drum

One of hte most common causes of crashing is a custom UI that hasn't been updated for the latest and greatest features in the gmae client. Please log into the char screen and choose 'Atlantis' to see if you dont crash. If that resolves it, you do indeed need a different custom UI

Aby - The process I went through was : 1. Download DAoC portal, 2. Direct DAoC Portal to my DAoC Install folder (Program Files / EA / Mythic / Darkageofcamelot . 3. Connect to the server (no problems there) 4. I made my char, then was crashed to desktop. 5. Uninstall / reinstall DAoC game client + patch fully.
That is where I sit as I write this. Dearyo Drum

You crashed before you hit 'play' ?

I have not attempted to re-install DAoC launcher post Uninstall / Reinstall of the game client. However, I would connect to the game, click "play," and the game would begin loading and then crash to desktop before any game could be displayed. I would never get to the value of mularn..

Connection::
If you connect using portal 2.8+ and daoc 1.113+, you should see a "Welcome to Uthgard" message. ![]() This means you were able to make the necessary UDP connection and DLL inject. User-Interface:: In 1.110+, if you crash to desktop after the character select screen, it's most definitely an out-of-date UI. If you're using Atlantis, that means you didn't patch properly and should run camelot.exe after deleting the mft.myp file inside your DAoC folder. Using Bob's UI is one of the best because it has the options to use almost any popular UI. |

Thank you for the response. My understanding is that my next steps need to be as follows:
1. direct DAoC Launcher to the folder that the .exe file is in. 2. delete the mft.myp file 3. download bob's UI ? 4. Figure out how to install bob's UI 5. Login and enjoy the game? Dearyo Drum

Hello, DearyoDrum
If you would like some help getting this set up, I have TeamViewer I can use to assist you, just PM me you preferred messenger client / contact name, and I'll get in touch. To answer your steps question, though... (1) Delete mft.myp from your installation directory. (2) Delete custom folder inside UI folder, which is in the installation directory. (3) Use live updater to update your installation to the latest version. (i.e. Run Camelot.exe) (4) Download Bob's UI from here. (5) Install Bob's UI. (When it asks where to extract, extract it to your UI folder inside your installation directory.) (6) Direct DAoC Launcher to installation directory from Settings menu. (7) Customize Bob's UI by running Options Chooser. (Default: <installation directory>\ui\custom\optionschooser.exe) (8) Login to Uthgard with your username and password, and the patcher will begin. If it freezes, or stops downloading completely, close it and restart. (9) Login, and enjoy. "No legacy is so rich as honesty." - William Shakespeare

I had the same issue and did exactly as posted above, however, when i log into the game, I have the default Bob's UI, and none of the changes I make in the options chooser will save when i log in. Everything is installed where it should be, and everything is patched correctly as far as I know. I am running v1.13 of the client with 1.110 v6.00 Bob's. I have messed around with it all evening trying change things one at a time to no avail. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

You have to use a process of elimination.
Firstly, restore your DAOC to defaults by either uninstalling everything or doing the following: - Uninstall/Delete any custom UI and remove the mft.myp file from the DAOC installation folder. Then run camelot.exe to patch your client to Live server. Also delete or rename your "..\Documents\Electronic Arts\Dark Age of Camelot" AND "C:\Users\"%username%"\AppData\Roaming\Electronic Arts\Dark Age of Camelot\LotM" folders. - Check you have modify permission to your DAOC install folder. If you leave it in Program Files, UAC likes to tell you that you don't know what you are doing and stops you from making changes. Personally, i move my install to a root folder and set permissions to allow local "users" have full control. Then completing one step at a time, do the following and try logging in after each change: - install/run portal and point it to your camelot.exe folder. Get to the character select screen, choose one and click play. (if it crashes here with all DAOC settings on default then you have to check your event viewer (run eventvwr) to find out what process is faulting. This is a core framework error, so could be a DirectX, Driver or Dot Net issue.) Now assuming the above did log in properly, re-download BobsUI and re-install pointing the installation at the UI folder. Change your skin in [options] to Custom. Try logging in. (A failure here is the custom UI and/or permissions to the UI folder.) If it logs in after reapplying BobsUI, then your problem is resolved. |

I have done all that, and have done it again. The permissions are set for all users to have full control. The UI will load fine, but I can't change all aspects of customizing it to how i like. Bob's loads but with the basic settings. I think that at this point I'm stuck using the default UI, as I don't know how else to fix this problem other than doing a complete reinstall of everything, which shouldn't be necessary. I would entertain doing that, however I live in a 3rd world country where the internet is stuck in the 1980's. I noticed that some of the folders in the options chooser were marked with an asterisk. I don't seem to recall seeing that before, or if it is relevant at all. Thanks for your input, and your help on trying to solve this. I do appreciate it!
