game crashes on char creation

hi, gotta mate with a problem creating a char on albion (he is ok with mid & hib). the game & machine crashe when he puts the name in and presses continue. any help would be nice. running xp. unrecoverable black screen. has to press reset.

he installed and ran it on his other comp, windows 7, np
