Some more Uthgard Spiritmaster questions

Hello everyone. Quick Uthgard SM mechanics questions:
1) SM equip stats are passed on to pet? 2) Does level or quality of staff influence summoning focus shield damage? 3) Does Summoning spec level influence anything, like pet heals or focus damage? (My opinions are 1=no, 2=no, 3=no , but i just hope to be proven wrong). Thanks for your answers. |

1) As far as I know the only "summoner" who got this benefit was the necromancer. Which makes perfect sense in my eyes.
2) I believe not. I would be surprised. 3) It improves healing. Not sure about buffs tbh, I would guess since they are specced they come with max delve already.. So no bonus here. Just assumptions by experience. I can't show you any tested proofs. And let's not forget that we are on Uthgard. |

I thank you for your kind answers.
I would like to add some more speculations, and maybe hear again your thoughts about it: I seem to remember that on old days live, staff quality does affect direct damaging spells (i.e. dd and bolts, but i think it doesn't affect dots, debuffs, or in this case focus shield damage), probably in the same manner weapon quality affects melee damage. Condition of the staff (CON) shouldn't affect spelldamage, tho, only staff quality. Speccing higher in a buffing tree adds some little percentage to buff efficiency. Speccing high augmentation gives some more statpoints with the buff than the listed amount of the same buff. I noticed this on Aug healers, aug shams, even in the hunter beastcraft line (i get 32 dex buff with the listed 28dexqui). I too think that focus shield is a particular spell which shouldn't take those many factors into account. I think that piety too doesn't affect the focus damage, it only makes the powerpool a little bit bigger. Again i ask help to anyone who wants to confirm or deny what we were speculating. Thanks |

Has anyone tested the effect of piety on either damage shields (focus or non-focus) to see if Piety actually affects the damage output? Curious whether to reroll my Spirit Master as a Frostalf simply for the higher DS damage and larger mana pool.
I've tested it with a minute difference (25 piety), and the results revealed that damage shields were not affected by piety. |

you need to test such things on live and not on uth....on uth the staff, especialy blue, can tell you exactly how stats effect spells...on live is whole different story...if piety has an effect on ds-dmg and on uth not: bug report! ![]() Genuine Spirit Cabalist since 2002

Lol, i forgot this thread i opened myself, and some days ago i was thinking if i should post some SM questions...
Anyway, since there are some more questions in this thread, i just want to add something that i discovered myself recently that could appear pretty obvious, actually, but probably not many people thought to apply to his spec / template (at least ME !) +summoning skill raises the cap of focus damage shield. A summoning SM is a class who can benefit of a very CHEAP template, being purely a PVE character (his only useful spell in rvr would be the baseline darkness, which will have a HUGE variance with the 24+11 points spent in the line). Most likely no pure PVE summ SM ever thought to spend money on his template to cap resists or skills (stats capping are beneficial, of course, but since those won't pass to the pet, it's kinda useless to cap resists or skills. You just need to play less greedily, and everything will work ok: no overpulling), dedicating all the money to his alternate characters. I did this way, and i was using until yesterday a blue staff (level 42?) with focus all 50 + 22STR as stats (helps carrying salvageable loot), and capped my stats with the rest of the equip (still wearing some greys). When i tried to use a summoning staff (drop) with +4 summoning on it, i found that the focus shield raised its cap damage. There still was the big variance but against a windswept wraith at level 47 (oj to me), higher focus damage spell does from 110 to 160 per hit. Using the +4 summoning that cap raised by 10-20 points (i'm now hitting those 120 to 180~). And i still have +7 more worth bonus points in the template. ----- TL;DR : be sure to place +11 summoning skill in your SummSM Template (if cheap) |
